From 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. this coming Wednesday, Feb.12, youngsters ages 3 to 12 and their parents are invited to register for the “Moana” Sing-Along Event being held in the Coolidge Theatre at the Deane Center for the Performing Arts at 104 Main Street in Wellsboro. It’s free.
The first 50 youngsters to register at www.deanecenter.com/deanelittlebeansevents or by calling 570-724-6220 will be accepted for the program.
Children can make a craft to take home, sing and dance as they watch the film “Moana” and eat dinner with their parents. Pizza and beverages (soda and water) are on the menu.
Families are encouraged to bring blankets and pillows so their youngsters can get comfy during the movie.
Beginning at 4:30 p.m. on Feb.12, children can sit at tables and use the free supplies and materials provided to make Tamatoa, the crab character in Disney’s “Moana.”
At 4:45 p.m., the showing of the 1 hour 43-minute sing-along movie will start. Youngsters attending are encouraged to dance and sing the on-screen lyrics to the songs as they watch “Moana.” The words to each song will be on the screen so the kids can sing even if they don’t know all the words.
The film is about 16-year-old Moana, an adventurous teenager who is the daughter of the chief of her tribe. The tribe lives on an island in the Pacific. Together, Maui (voiced by Dwayne Johnson) and Moana sail across the open ocean on an action-packed voyage to prove herself a master wayfinder and save her people. Along the way, Moana fulfills the ancient quest of her ancestors and discovers the one thing she always sought: her own identity.
Being shown is the “Moana” movie originally released on Nov. 23, 2016 by Walt Disney Animation Studios. The sequel “Moana 2,” released by Disney on Nov. 21, 2024, will not be shown.
