Daryl L. Stratton, 78, a life-long resident of Wellsboro

Daryl L. Stratton, 78, a life-long resident of Wellsboro, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly Sunday morning, November 2, 2025, at his residence. He was the dedicated and loving only child of Ralph and Margaret Stratton. After his father died when Daryl was 18, he took care of his mother until she passed away at age 94.
Daryl worked as a high school industrial arts (shop) teacher at Wellsboro Area High School for 30 years until he retired in 1999. Daryl was an active church member his entire life. He was a quiet man, but very kind, generous, always quick to help others. A hard worker, he was also a talented woodworker- able to make the most beautiful works of art with wood. He touched the lives of so many people through his work. In his later years, even as he developed Parkinson’s disease, he remained active until the day he died and enjoyed helping his wife and daughter with yard work and projects around the house. Daryl is survived by his wife, Diane Stratton, 3 children, Dr. Laura French, Rev. William (Rachel) French, and Kimberly Diane (Troy) Smith, and 8 grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.
Services will be held Monday, November 10th at First Presbyterian Church Wellsboro. Viewing at 11 am; service to follow at 12 pm.
Memorials may be sent to the First Presbyterian Church Wellsboro, 130 Main Street, Wellsboro PA 16901.
