Crary Hose Incident Report: T120723-14 Report of Gas In Structure at Westfield Kwik-Fill

Dept 5 Crary Hose, Dept 6 Knoxville-Deerfield, Dept 16 Clymer Hose, Dept 3 Elkland (RIT,) Dept 26 Sabinsville Ambulance, UPMC ALS were dispatched to Kwik-Fill at 465 East Main Street, Westfield Borough.
Caller reported that there was an odor of natural gas in the structure, with three people with a headache. The store was evacuated and secured by employees prior to arrival. Engine 5-3 (crew of 4) and Squad 5-18 (crew of 2) arrived at 07:45 to the building being ventilated via the back door. Dept 3 was cancelled.
Donning SCBA and using metering equipment, Engine 5-3 crew swept the building for natural gas and carbon monoxide with negative findings.
Squad 5-18 began patient assessments using Pulse CO-oximetry. Ambulance 26-6 arrived at 07-48 and assisted with assessments. Dept 47 (Tri-Town Ulysses) was dispatched for an additional ambulance, and UPMC ALS Medic arrived on-scene at 08:19 to further assist with assessments. Ambulance 26-6, Ambulance 47-7 transported patients and 2 patients did not require transport.
Knoxville Engine 6-2 (crew of 5) and Clymer Patrol 16-4 also assisted on-scene. The scene was turned over to Kwik-Fill Maintenance and UGI at 08:48. Thank you to all who responded.
