Chinyu Victoria Liang, 75, Former Bradford, PA Resident
Chinyu Victoria Liang, 75, of 730 Bower Hill Road, passed away Saturday, July 1, 2023 at St. Clair Hospital.
Born June 28, 1948 in Taiwan as a single daughter, she was raised by her adopted grandmother throughout her childhood. She was an exceptional student throughout her life. Due to being the top student in her high school, she was able to attend National Taiwan University, the most prestigious college in Taiwan, without taking the entrance examination.
She graduated from National Taiwan University in 1970 and then immigrated to the United States to attend graduate school at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. She graduated from the University of Michigan with a Master’s Degree in Chemistry on December 23, 1971.
At the University of Michigan, during graduate school, she met Zao Shon Liang, whom she married on January 12, 1972 in Ann Arbor, MI. They had a first daughter, Lillian, in 1975. They then moved to Bradford, PA around 1976 for Zao Shon’s pharmacy job. Subsequently, they had two twin daughters, Kimberly and Kelly, in 1979.
She had a passion for cooking and enjoyed preparing food for the family throughout her life. She took great joy in cooking Chinese dishes and snacks. She was a homemaker most of her life, with the exception of a short time working as a chemist at Zippo refinery in Bradford, PA.
She moved to Asbury Villas assisted living home in June 2020. She was well-liked by fellow residents there and the nursing staff who cared for her until her passing.
She is survived by her three children, Dr. Lillian Liang Emlet of Mars, PA, Drs. Kimberly Penny Liang and Kelly Victoria Liang of Kansas City, KS; a granddaughter, Caitlin Grace Emlet of Mars, PA; a brother-in-law, James T. (Sue) Liang, of Cleveland, OH; and some extended family members in Taiwan.
