Change in Leadership at the Stackpole-Hall Foundation
On Thursday, August 24, 2023 Dr. William Conrad retired as the Chairman of the Board of the Stackpole-Hall Foundation. Having turned 80 years of age the day before, Dr. Conrad, believes that younger leadership is needed; and while stepping down as Chair, he intends to remain active as a Trustee for a few more years.
Upon his resignation as Chairman, Conrad nominated fellow long-time trustee Alexander Sheble-Hall to be the next chairman. Following his nomination, Mr. Sheble-Hall, affectionally known as Sandy, was unanimously elected as only the sixth Chairman in the Foundation’s seventy-two-year history.
Sandy is the grandson of Lyle G. Hall Sr., founder of the foundation, and the son of Lyle G. Hall Jr., a former Chair of the foundation board. Sandy was first appointed a trustee 40 years ago at the age of 28, and over the years he has served as an active and dedicated trustee.
Sandy was born in Ridgway, Pennsylvania and moved with his family to the Boston, Massachusetts area when he was a boy. However, regardless of distance, he has always been very involved with the foundation, serving on committees and actively advocating for the advancement of the foundation’s mission.
Sandy brings a wealth of knowledge and experiences to the foundation, especially in the fields of health and human services. He has spent a career in the health services field, especially involved in the care and treatment of the HIV and AIDS patients, he traveled to West Africa during the Ebola outbreak as part of a volunteer medical team, and to Haiti in the aftermath of devastating earthquakes and storms.
Sandy is keenly committed to the needs of a diverse and caring world, and he is an advocate for the foundations’ service to the most vulnerable and disadvantaged people.
Sandy and his wife Becky live in Dover, Massachusetts, and have two children, daughter Rory and son Tim. Continuing the Hall family’s foundation tradition, daughter Rory joined the foundation as a trustee in 2019.
Upon Mr. Sheble-Hall’s election, his fellow trustees acknowledged that the future of the foundation is in good hands.
