The July 1, 2025 meeting of Ceres Township Supervisors was called to order at 6:00 p.m. by Anthony Plants with 3 Supervisors, Secretary, and 12 residents in attendance. The Pledge of Allegiance was said and the June 3,2025 meeting minutes read and approved.
Paradise Energy Solutions Discussion concerning the solar farm raised questions: will it connect to the electric grid? The fire department has no chemical to use should a fire break out. Is Paradise Energy willing to provide the chemical to have on hand? What is the effect of the Solar Farm on a pacemaker? How do they propose to treat the soil to return it to its original state when decommissioning? Questions will be relayed to Paradise Energy and responses reviewed at the next meeting. Some residents were in direct opposition to the Solar Farm.
Solar Farm Ordinance was discussed by residents and supervisors. The ordinance was adopted as well as the application for Solar Farm and Transfer of Solar Farm. Several
Two applications for summer help were received for review by supervisors.
Ceres Cemetery Care issue was readdressed. Contact with Rep. Causer’s office offered no resolution. There is need for interested persons or persons with a relative laid to rest in the Ceres cemetery to contact Roberta Stickles,or Ceres Tow 58 Powerhouse Rd, Little Genesee, NY 14754 or Ceres Township @ 814-697-6948. They have need of people to mow as well as someone to be responsible for funds for the Association. Once a willing person to manage funds for the cemetery is found, the Township Secretary will help them obtain EIN. Funding of cemetery care can then be solicited.
Gwen Rush presented ATV/UTV Ordinance that would give permission for ATV/UTVs to ride on Township Roads. The ordinance would protect the township from any liability related to ATV/UTV mishap. The supervisors will consider the ordinance and give reply at the next meeting. Proposal for Firkel Sub division for property owned by Michael and Marilyn Firkel was presented and approved. Resolution for DCED Multimodal Grant Applicationin amount of $300,324.00 and DCED County Aid application were signed and approved. Old Tractor and mower will be put up for bid. Roadmaster reported ditching has been done on Barden Brook and is ready for project that will begin the middle of July. Gravel put on Lynch Hollow and King’s Run. Mowing of Township Roads has been completed on this side.
PUBLIC COMMENTS It was stated by a resident that Ceres Township does need to have a Wind Ordinance in place. Another resident requested Keech Hollow be graded. A third resident would like a section of Slippery Elm repaired where storm water has washed it.
The next meeting of the Ceres Township Supervisors will be held at 6:00 pm August 5, 2025 at Ceres Township building located at 12 Barbertown Rd. Hope to see you there.
