A Port Allegany man is in jail following an attempted robbery in Hinsdale
Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s office reports that around 7:40 am yesterday, they responded to a robbery in progress at the US Post Office on Main Street in Hinsdale. Following their investigation, Officers arrested Kenneth E. Lannager and charged him with Attempted Robbery and Menacing. Officers say Lannager allegedly threatened employees of the post office with a hammer and stole property from them.
Lannager was remanded to Cattaraugus County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Hinsdale Court tomorrow.
Police: Emporium man charged for repeated sexual abuse of girl, 10, inside tent
Cameron County, PA (WJAC) — Authorities in Cameron County have filed charges against an Emporium man following a years-long investigation into claims that he had repeatedly sexually abused a 10-year-old girl in 2014.
Police say the investigation into Forest William Drake, now age 60, began in the summer of 2014 after the victim’s mother filed a complaint, alleging that her daughter had been sexually assaulted by him.
According to the affidavit, police say an arrest warrant was issued for Drake but authorities say he had fled the area prior to being taken into custody. Read more…..

Wellsville Police arrested David P. Metcalf, age 37 of Wellsville, charging him with Criminal Contempt 2nd, Endangering the Welfare of a Child and Harassment 2nd. The charges stem from an incident that took place on Seneca Street in the Village. Metcalf was processed and arraigned before Town of Amity Justice Gominiak. Metcalf was committed to the Allegany County Jail on $2,500.00 cash bail, or $20,000.00 property bond or $50,000.00 partially secured bond. Metcalf is due to appear in Wellsville Village Court on December 6th at 4:30 pm.
Troopers Charge Man With “Drug Delivery Resulting in Death” of Kane Man in May
(KANE, Pennsylvania): McKean County District Attorney Stephanie Vettenburg-Shaffer reports that on November 16, 2022, charges were filed in regards to a Kane man’s death earlier this year on Pine Street in Kane.
Trooper Eric Thompson charged 28 year old Paul MCMAHON, currently of the McKean County Jail, with Drug Delivery Resulting in death, Involuntary Manslaughter, 3 counts of Possession with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance, 3 counts Criminal Use of a Communication Facility, and Reckless Endangering Another Person.
The complaint alleges that, on 05/06/2022, a 35 year old male was found unresponsive at 10 Pine Street. He was pronounced deceased.
Members from Kane Volunteer Fire Department, Kane Borough Police Department, Emergy Care Ambulance and the McKean County District Attorney responded to the scene. The District Attorney requested the Pennsylvania State Police investigate the death.
The complaint alleges that the investigation showed communication between McMahon and the victim regarding the sale of drugs to the victim three times between May 4 and May 6, including the last delivery to the victim shortly before his death. The cause of death was rule fentanyl toxicity.
MCMAHON was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge David Engman who set bail at $1 million.
A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for November 28 at Magisterial District Judge David Engman’s court in Kane.
MCMAHON remains incarcerated.

Valerie L. Ostrum, 70, of 218 Summit St., Austin, PA passed away at UPMC Williamsport, Williamsport, PA on Sunday night (November 13, 2022).
She was born March 5, 1952 in St. Marys, PA a daughter of the late Eugene Snyder and Norma Carlson Stebich.
She graduated from Cameron County High School in the class of 1970.
She is survived by her companion LaVern Carlson of Austin; a daughter, Missy Whitcomb (John), Emporium; two step-daughters, Beth Carlson and Crystal Earle, both of Emporium; three grandchildren: Natasha, Lacey and Jason, one great granddaughter: Adalee and eight step grandchildren.
Valerie was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, David and Brian Snyder.
At her request there will be no visitation or service.
