Assault Investigation At SCI Forrest In Jenks Twp.

(MCKEAN COUNTY, Pennsylvania, September 4, 2023): District Attorney Stephanie Vettenburg-Shaffer reports that, following a jury trial on August 30, 2023, Tony McCormick, of Port Allegany, was convicted of Simple Assault. McCormick was charged by Foster Township Police with Simple Assault and Harassment after they were dispatched to a residence in the Township on December 2, 2022 where the victim reported she was assaulted by McCormick. Officers observed marks on her face. McCormick was also convicted of harassment. Assistant District Attorney Thomas Coppolo prosecuted the case on behalf of the Commonwealth. Officer Devin Grandinetti investigated the case.

PRESS RELEASE
On September 3, 2023, at 7:30 P.M., Troopers out of SP Olean responded to Cheese Factory Road in the town of Allegany for a vehicle that struck multiple people.
Investigation determined that a 2014 Ford Fusion operated by Peggy J. Errera, 70 of Bradford, PA, was backing out of a driveway into the roadway. Errera intended to go straight, but never straightened the wheels as she accelerated the Ford. The Ford accelerated back into the driveway and struck six people gathered in the front lawn of the residence.
One of the victims, Ronald S. Piechota, 81 of Schenectady, NY was pronounced deceased at the scene. Another 66-year-old victim was air lifted and taken to Erie County Medical Center with severe injuries. The four other victims are all being treated at local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.
Errera was evaluated by a Drug Recognition Expert and no signs of intoxication were detected.
The Collision Reconstruction Unit and the Bureau of Criminal Investigation assisted in this investigation.
This is still an ongoing investigation.

(MCKEAN COUNTY, Pennsylvania, August 31, 2023): District Attorney Stephanie Vettenburg-Shaffer reports that a warrant has been issued for the arrest of Robert Allen Tanner of Smethport.
The warrant was issued by Magisterial District Judge William K. Todd on August 31, 2023 following the filing of a criminal complaint by Trooper Eric Thompson (Pennsylvania State Police – Lewis Run).
The complaint charges Tanner with crimes against a juvenile from September 26, 2021-February 23, 2023.
Tanner is charged with Rape of a Child, Involuntary Deviate Sexual Intercourse with a Child and other sexual offenses.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Tanner is asked to call 911 or the Pennsylvania State Police – Lewis Run barracks at (814) 368-9239.

Wellsville Police arrested Kyle J. Caschera, age 30 of Wellsville, charging him with Assault 3rd (Class A Misdemeanor). The charge stems from an incident that took place on Madison Street. Caschera was processed, issued an appearance ticket and released. Caschera is due to appear in Wellsville Village Court on September 19th at 4:30 pm.
(SMETHPORT, Pennsylvania, August 28, 2023): McKean County District Attorney Stephanie Vettenburg-Shaffer reports that, following a jury trial at the McKean County Courthouse, Brian A. Gausman (formerly of Kane), was convicted of crimes related to sex acts against a minor.
Witnesses testified that, on August 7, 2022, Officer Michael Henry of Kane Borough Police Department was dispatched to Gausman’s residence on Welsh Street in Kane for a report of a suicidal male. On-scene, Officer Henry encountered Gausman and a teenage female relative.
The female would later disclose that Gausman raped her and forced her to perform oral sex on him at his residence.
Wellsville Police arrested Daniel E. Fronczak, age 47, of Wellsville, charging him with Public Lewdness (Class B Misdemeanor).
The charge stems from an incident that took place on South Main Street. Fronczak was also charged with a Probation Violation Warrant. Fronczak was processed and arraigned before Wellsville Village Justice Thompson.
Fronczak was committed to the Allegany County Jail on $2,000.00 cash bail or $4,000.00 property bond or $8,000.00 partially secured bond. Fronczak is due back in Wellsville Village Court on September 5th at 4:30 pm.
