Bradford Man Arrested For Harassment At The McKean County Jail


(MCKEAN COUNTY, Pennsylvania; January 18, 2024): District Attorney Stephanie Vettenburg-Shaffer reports that, following a two-day jury trial at the McKean County Courthouse, Andrew Baker, of Eldred, was convicted of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Strangulation, Simple Assault and harassment.
He was found not guilty of an additional count of simple assault and terroristic threats. Testimony at the trial included that of a man and woman from Eldred who testified that Baker had been in a romantic relationship with the woman at the time of the crime. On June 17, 2023, he came to the woman’s house and assaulted the man with a glass device by smashing the device over the man’s head, causing it to shatter. Baker then put the man in a chokehold until he fell unconscious. After the man came to, he realized he was bleeding profusely from his back and realized that the defendant had stabbed him with a shard of glass that was on the floor from the glass device that had shattered.

On January 9, 2024, at approximately 11:09 a.m., Troopers from SP Amity responded to a report of a motor vehicle in a ditch on Moss Brook Road in the Town of Friendship.
Investigation determined that a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling northbound on Moss Brook Rd. in the Town of Friendship on snow-and ice-covered roadways when the vehicle of the vehicle exited the roadway striking an embankment.
The operator, Leslie M. Blouvet, 37, of Friendship, NY, was pronounced dead at the scene. The only passenger in the vehicle, a 40-year-old female who sustained non-life-threatening injuries, was transported to the Jones Memorial Hospital for treatment.
This is an ongoing investigation.

On January 11th, 2024 at approximately 1:16 PM, Cuba Police arrested Estefan M. Sabastros (29) of Rochester, NY. Sabastros was arrested on an outstanding warrant from the City of Olean for Burglary 3rd and criminal possession of stolen property 4th. Sabastros was processed and turned over to the Olean Police Department. Sabastros is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Wellsville Police arrested Michael S. Root, age 50 of Hornell, charging him with DWI (Felony), DWI w/BAC of .08% or more (Felony), AUO 1st (Felony), Unlicensed Operator (Infraction), Operate out of Ignition Interlock Restriction (Misdemeanor), Visibility Distorted Broken Glass (Infraction), Consumption of Alcohol in Motor Vehicle (Infraction) and Moved from Lane Unsafely (Infraction).
The charges stem from a traffic stop on State Rte. 19 in the Village. Root was processed and arraigned before Wellsville Village Justice Thompson. Root was committed to the Allegany County Jail on no bail. Root is due back in Wellsville Village Court on February 6th at 4:30 pm.
