JoAnne L. HOAGLAND, 74, of Belmont, NY, died Saturday, December 31, 2022 in Highland Park Rehabilitation & Nursing Center, Wellsville.
Born August 29, 1948, in Hornell, she was the daughter of Ernest J. and Marion Norton Cole of Angelica. On April 4, 1982, in Belmont, she married John W. Hoagland, who predeceased her on February 20, 2021. A 1966 graduate of Angelica Central School, she continued her education at Olean Business Institute in 1967, then went on to Alfred State College where she earned an AAS in business administration. JoAnne was employed by Allegany County for 27 years in various departments but spent most of her time with the Department of Public Works. She also owned and operated her own ceramic and candy business, JoAnne’s Ceramics, for 15 years.
When she wasn’t working, JoAnne volunteered as a 4-H leader for ten years, was a volunteer and avid supporter of the Allegany County ARC program, and enjoyed baking, gardening, canning, sewing, making stained glass, and many other crafts and hobbies. Most summers JoAnne could be found taking her ceramics to several campgrounds for campers to paint and enjoy. She loved going to the ARC homes with her ceramics for the residents to paint and always had Christmas presents for them. Most of all she loved spending time with her girls and grandchildren. JoAnne was a member of the Belmont United Methodist Church as well as attended the Cuba First Baptist Church with her family.
Surviving are: two daughters, Crystal (Joseph) Wiech of Greeneville, TN and Stephanie (Kirby) Pierce of Cuba; five grandchildren, Gabrielle Wiech of Johns Island, SC, Zachary Wiech of Greeneville TN, Kody (Paige) Pierce of Port St. John, FL, Kelsey (Rudy) Collver of Belmont, and Kadin Piece of Cuba; and four great-grandchildren, Rayland Pierce, Paisley Pierce, Luca Mooney, and Lainey Wiech.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a sister, Karen M. Cole.

Verena M. Cuneo, 91, of St. Marys, PA passed away peacefully at her home on December 31, 2022 with her family by her side.
She was born on November 11, 1931 in Squab Hollow, PA, a daughter of the late Timothy and Angeline Capuccini Cuneo.
Verena was a graduate of Kersey High School, class of 1949. She was employed at Keystone Carbon Company for a number years.
A talented artist, Verena loved to paint and created many works of art over the years. She also loved poetry and spending time outdoors, always enjoying a quiet walk through nature. She will be remembered as a kind and loving mother and grandmother.
She is survived by 9 children; Linda (Martin) Crowe of Kersey, Beverly (Emeterio) Valladares of Richmond, VA, Catherine (David) Suda of Richmond, VA, Christine (Keith) Clark of Richmond, VA, John (Bobbi) Kerchinski of Bakersfield, CA, Timothy (Lisa) Kerchinski of State College, Thomas (Kim) Kerchinski of St. Marys, Joseph Kerchinski of St. Marys, and Robert (Monica) Kerchinski of St. Marys; and by 14 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a son-in-law; Richard Stossel of Richmond, VA and by a brother-in-law; James Brock of Pittsburgh.
In addition to her parents, Verena was preceded in death by a daughter; Donna Stossel, by three brothers; Guilio Corradi, Silvio Cuneo, and Gerald Cuneo and by three sisters; Lauretta “Dolly” Friedl, Angeline “Jeanne” Hasselman and Shirley Brock.

SMETHPORT, Pa.—Linda K. Lewis, 72, a longtime resident of Smethport, PA passed away unexpectedly in her home on Friday, December 30, 2022.
Born on Tuesday, November 14, 1950 in Olean, N.Y., she was a daughter of Charles and Lorena Ford Pratt. On September 8, 1984 in the Smethport United Methodist Church, she married Ronald William “Mike” Lewis, who survives.
Linda was a graduate of Eldred High School. She had been employed by Backus Company in Smethport for many years holding many different positions until retiring due to ill health.
Linda enjoyed crocheting, camping. and spending time on her tablet—playing games and Facebooking. Her greatest love was her family.
Surviving besides her husband of 38 years are three sons, Ronald L. (Vanessa) Scutt of Smethport, John L. (Marnie) Scutt of Shinglehouse, and Gary K. (Sheryle) Scutt of McClure; eight grandchildren, Jenna, Rona, Courtney, Emily, Gabriel, Levi, Collin, and Eric; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Judy (Jerry) Daniels of Hope Mills, NC; an uncle, Kenneth (Teresa) Ford of Shinglehouse; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Linda was predeceased by her stepmother, Agnes “Aggie” Pratt, who raised Linda and also raised Linda’s three sons. She was also predeceased by five brothers, Charles Pratt Jr., James Pratt, Joseph Pratt, Timothy Pratt, and George Pratt; a sister, Debbie Moyer; and several aunts and uncles.

John P. Dietrick, 89, of Ridgway, PA passed away at Penn Highlands Elk on Saturday, December 31, 2022, following a short illness.
He was born on May 15, 1933 in Ridgway, a son of the William Wilson and Sarah LaRose Moore Dietrick.
On May 19, 1952, he married Charlotte Lundin, who preceded in death on May 30, 2013.
John has been a lifelong resident of the area and a graduate of Johnsonburg High School class of 1951. He served in the U.S Navy and was a member of the Ridgway Burial detail for many years. He was a member of the Ridgway Moose, Elks, and Legion. John loved to go on motorcycle rides, wood working, hunting, and playing cards.
John is survived by 5 children; Charles Dietrick and his wife Brenda of Ridgway, Pamela Uber and her husband David of Ridgway, John Dietrick and his wife Susan of Denver, NC, Todd Dietrick and his wife Lamis of Merritt Island, FL, and Diane Zelcs and her husband Gene of Ridgway, 12 grandchildren; Adam, Jennifer, Randee Jo, Angela, Paul, Kathleen, Zachary, Jessica, Heather, Dylan, Allison, and Kaitlyn, numerous great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

Leslie D. Field, 73, of 1995 Route 305, Cuba, NY passed away December 23, 2022 at Strong Memorial Hospital, in Rochester.
Born April 14, 1949 in Olean, he was the son of Ray E. and Nellie Bly Field. He married Bonnie Powell, who survives.
Leslie was a veteran of the United States Navy and worked as an NDT inspector for Walt Disney World as well as Dresser Rand in Olean and Wellsville.
He was a longtime member of the Southside Union Chapel, the Steel Workers Union, and the Christian Motorcycle Association. He also loved the Green Bay Packers, working on cars, riding his motorcycle, playing his guitar and writing music. Most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Leslie is survived by; two daughters, Misty (Michael) Vossler of Orlando, FL., and Michelle (Freeman) Bridge of Shinglehouse, PA; five grandchildren, Ashton, Julien, Levi, Luc, and Oliva Grace; one sister, Anna Catherine Howard; and many nieces and nephews.
He predeceased by; one daughter, Loriann Field; one grandson, Ethan Ray; and his siblings, Harold Jones, Helen Berard, and Linda Cook.

Carol Lee Armagost, 68, of DuBois, PA died Thursday, December 29, 2022 at Penn Highlands DuBois Hospital.
Born on January 4, 1954 in DuBois, PA, she was the daughter of the late Harry W. and Ella V. (Milliron) Armagost.
Carol moved to DuBois in 2019 after living in Emporium, PA for 45 years.
She retired from GKN Sintered Metals in Emporium as a technician after 40 years of service.
Carol is survived by one brother, William L. Armagost and his wife Deanne and one sister, Nancy Jo Horak and her husband Edward both of DuBois, PA; two nieces, Tammy and Susan; and three nephews, Rich, Alex and Zack.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 31, 2022 from 10 – 11a.m. at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc.

Daemon J. Beck, 51, of 1496 Kent Rd., Ischua, NY passed away Sunday (December 25, 2022) after a recent diagnosis of cancer.
Born October 4, 1971 in Ft. Lee, NJ, he was the son of Robert Beck and Susan Gruzdis Shapiro. On October 17, 2015 in East Smethport United Christian Church, he married Randi L. Burton who survives.
Daemon was raised in New York City and graduated from the Culinary Institute in NYC in 2005. He worked for a period of time for the Plaza Hotel and Tavern on the Green, both in NYC. In the early 2000’s he moved to Portville. In 2014, he and Randi moved to Smethport. They returned to Ischua in June of this year, and he had been working for Go To Meals as well as Randy’s Fireside.
He enjoyed spending his time cooking and being with his family, especially his wife and children. He also loved his country and was a true patriot. He was a former member of the Portville Volunteer Fire Department.
He is survived by his wife Randi; his father of Queens; his mother of New Jersey; 8 children Rene Faulkner of Bradenton, FL, Tim Flanagan of Buffalo, Savannah Chiapuso of Portville, Isabelle Phearsdorf of Ischua, Nathan Beck of Portville, Gabriella Phearsdorf of Ischua, Ameline Beck of Portville, and Everly Beck of Ischua; 1 granddaughter Nevaeh House; an uncle and aunt Gary and Nancy Beck of NYC; and 1 cousin, Arla Fiorenzi of New Smyrna Beach, FL.

Richard L. HRIBAR, 83, of Coudersport, PA, died Thursday, December 29, 2022 in Sweden Valley Manor, Coudersport.
Born January 26, 1939, in New Castle, he was the son of Louis William and Jennie Meelich Hribar. On October 24, 1964, in Winchester, VA, he married the former Carol A. Jameson, who survives.
A graduate of Bessemer High School, he earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Youngstown University and a master’s degree in guidance counseling from St. Bonaventure University. He was employed by IU9 teaching special education at Coudersport High School for 30 years.
Dick was a member of Coudersport Alliance Church, Susquehannock Trail Club, and Trout Unlimited.
Surviving besides his wife, Carol, are: a daughter, Tammy (Timothy) Bennett of Coudersport; a granddaughter Traci (Kris) Bretz of Coudersport; two great-granddaughters, Gianna Allen and KarliJo Bretz, both of Coudersport; a sister, Carol (Ronald) Snyder of Ft. David L. Bizzarro, loving father and grandfather, 73, of 23 River Street, Bradford, PA passed away unexpectedly, Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at his residence.
Born October 5, 1949, in Bradford, he was a son of the late Michael and Lena (Martel) Bizzarro.
Dave was a 1967 graduate of Bradford Central Christian High School and received an associate degree from the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford in 1969.
He was employed for 25 years locally at Penzoil Company and moved to Midland, TX with Penzoil. He retired and returned to Bradford to work with his son Mel.
Dave enjoyed playing baseball and coaching Little League Baseball. He loved the NY Yankees. His greatest joy was being with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He was a member of St. Bernard Church, and the Italian Club.
He is survived by two daughters, Joy (Shane) Harless, of Bradford, and Melissa (Kevin) Winter, of Prosper TX, several grandchildren including Cassandra Harless, Brodie Harless, twins, Codie and Blake Harless, Nathan Winter, Sofia Winter, Vinnie Bizzarro and Melanie Bizzarro, one brother, Robert M. (Lisa) Bizzarro, of Tonawanda NY, and two nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one son, Melvin D. Bizzarro.

Alfred J. Brown, age 87, of Lawrenceville, PA passed away on December 24, 2022 at Broad Acres Nursing Home in Wellsboro.
Born August 2, 1935 in Bath, NY, he was the son of the late Alfred H. Brown and Frances (Quick) Brown Patterson. He married Rosalie Rumburger on November 23, 1957 and they celebrated 65 years of marriage.
Al served three years in the US Marine Corps where he earned the rank SSgt. Al then worked as a machinist for Ingersoll Rand where he retired. In retirement, Al operated a cabinet shop where he built many pieces of heirloom furniture, kitchen and bathroom cabinets as well as custom restoration.
In addition to his wife, Al is survived by his children, Deborah and Ronald Chapel of Tioga and their son, Nicholas Chapel; Cherrie and Arthur Miller of Tioga and their children, Matt Soper, Jaime Soper, Tony Miller and Angie Miller and Brian and Desta Brown of Knoxville and their children, Yvonne Brown and Brian Brown; and six great grandchildren.

Elizabeth Lillian Sallade, 89, Coudersport, PA passed away Monday December 26, 2022 at UPMC-Cole, Coudersport.
She was born on August 23, 1933, daughter of the late Clayton and Wanda (Petrosewitz) Reed. She married her high school sweetheart, Frederick William Sallade, on June 16, 1951 and they were married over 33 years until his passing on May 14, 1985.
Betty was a graduate of Coudersport High School, Class of 1951. She retired from Morgan AM&T, formerly Pure Carbon, when she was in her mid 70’s after 47 years of service. She loved her job and her friends on the inspection line. Betty was a member of St. Eulalia Catholic Church, Coudersport.
Betty had a great sense of humor and was fiercely loyal to her family. She enjoyed life with family and friends and staying in touch with the people she loved. She enjoyed go out with her late husband to local places for dining and entertainment and she enjoyed travelling.
Earlier in life she loved working with her father outside, helping with chores on the farm. She continued this love for working outside with her husband and even later in life, after retiring, helping her son William with the outside chores.
Betty is survived by a son, William (Donna) Sallade of Coudersport; a daughter, Deborah (David) DeGroff of Florissant, MO; six grandchildren; Shannon Sallade, Megan Sallade, Jason Saler, Minelle Snay, Matthew Sallade, and Case DeGroff, 11 great grandchildren; Breanna, Corben, Liam, Sean, Lincoln, Finnen, Andrew, Emily, Lucas, Zoie, and Callum, a brother, Clayton Reed, Jr. of Coudersport; and a sister, Mary McCaigue of Coudersport.
A gathering of family and friends will take place at Sweden Hill Cemetery in the late spring. A date and time will be announced at a later date.

Barbara Breal (71) of Biloxi, Mississippi has gone to be with the Lord and Savior on 12/25/2022.
Barbara was born in Port Allegany, Pennsylvania on January 26,1951 to the late Dorothy (Stuck) and Paul Bennett of Eldred, PA.
She was a 1969 graduate of Otto-Eldred JR/SR High School. After graduating Barbara joined the United States Air Force where she served for 5 1/2 years.
In December of 1998, Barbara married Rickey Ficke Breal and had a wonderful family. Barbara was a long-time employee of Merit Health for 30 years.
Barbara is survived by her husband Rickey Breal, son Richard (Amanda) Lord of Pensacola, FL. Sisters Deborah Bird of Eldred, PA and Sarah (Phil) Hall of East Aurora, NY. Grandsons Carson Lord, Garrett Lord, Stepdaughter Kimberly Breal and step-granddaughter Dallas Graham. A very special cousin Stephen Bennett of Duke Center, PA and many nieces and nephews.

Joseph A. “Joe” “Joey” Lehosky, 63, of Eldred, PA passed away at home, suddenly and unexpectedly, on December 23, 2022.
Born October 15, 1959, in Olean, NY, he was the only child of the late Joseph P. Lehosky, and Joyce Sacco Lehosky of Bradford.
Joe was a 1977 graduate of Otto-Eldred High School. He earned a BA from St. Bonaventure University and an MBA from Penn State-Behrend.
His work history includes employment with the Otto Eldred Recreation Center during high school summers, and, after college, Joel Anderson, CPA, in Port Allegany, National Transit Company in Bradford, Pennzoil in Oil City, and, most recently, as co-owner of Cranberry Castrol 10-Minute Oil Change/Car Wash/Pet Wash in Cranberry. He retired in April 2021.
Joe enjoyed traveling, reading, fly fishing, and fly tying.
On May 24, 1986, Joe married Patricia Popiel Lehosky who survives.
Surviving is his wife Patty of 36 years, his mother Joyce, mother-in-law, Doris Popiel, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Kevin and Molly Popiel Lindahl, Jon Popiel, and Joseph and Alice Popiel. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, including Jason and Heidi Popiel Worthington and their children, Cade and Paxton, plus Dan Popiel and Ashley Butters and their children, Natalee and Nicholas. Also, he is survived by special local friends, Mike and Lois Kervin, Joe Wade, and Carl and Jean Miskovich.
There will be no public funeral services. His cremains will be scattered by the family.

Timothy C. GIELOW, 68, of Wellsville, NY, died Wednesday, December 28, 2022 in his home.
Born September 13, 1954, in Buffalo, he was the son of Joseph James and Delores Yvonne Mills Gielow.
A graduate of Angelica High School, he served honorably with the U.S. Air Force from 1978 – 1980. He was employed on the bridge crew with the Department of Transportation.
His interests included fishing, ice fishing, woodworking, hunting, painting, and carpentry. Tim especially enjoyed time spent with his grandchildren.
Surviving are: his girlfriend of 22 years, Connie Morris; a daughter, Cassie (David) Guagliano of Buffalo; four granddaughters, Rochelle, Maddie, Carley, and Reese Morris; four great-grandchildren; several step-grandchildren; three step-sons, Anthony (Christie) Morris of Murfreesboro, TN, Scott (Patty) Morris of Eastaboga, AL, and Robbie Morris of Andover; a step-daughter, Christina (Chad) Allen of Filmore; a daughter-in-law, Melissa Niedermaier; a sister, Becky J. She was born February 15, 1930, in Wellsboro, to Ezra and Alta (Patrick) Dickinson. On June 24, 1950 she married Ernest H. Teed, and together they raised three children and shared 69 years of marriage.
Letha worked outside the home cleaning houses and offices, and was an employee at Witts Nursing Home in Nauvoo, but she was happy to consider her vocation, that of a homemaker. She had been a member of the Oregon Hill Grace Chapel. Letha and Ernest maintained a camper at Petticoat Junction in Cedar Run for 40 years and loved their time there. She enjoyed crocheting and knitting, gardening and canning, and was proud of her flower beds.
Letha is survived by her two sons: Larry Teed of Wellsboro and Scott Teed of Liberty; a daughter: Sandi (Victor) Johnson of Asheboro, NC; five grandchildren: Colin, Stephen, Todd, Karen, and Brittany; four great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a brother-in-law: LeRoy Teed of Oregon Hill.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers: Larue and Don Dickinson, and a sister: Angie Fletcher.
Friends and family are invited to pay tribute to Letha’s life from 11am-1pm Tuesday January 3, 2023 at the Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home, 139 Main Street, Wellsboro, PA, a funeral will follow at 1pm in the funeral home. Burial will be in Oregon Hill Cemetery.
John C. McLaren, 82, of Lindholm Road, Mount Jewett, PA passed away Sunday (Dec. 25, 2022) at his residence.
He was born on Feb. 3, 1940, in Johnstown. On Feb. 15, 1969, in Toledo, Ohio, he married Rose Switala, who survives.
John was a heavy equipment operator with the union in Toledo. John used to hunt in this area and he and Rose moved here after his retirement.
He was a life member of the Mount Jewett American Legion and the Mount Jewett VFW. He also was the Shriners, Zenobia Shrine, in Perrysburg, Ohio, the Free and Accepted Masons Harbor Light Lodge #746, the Mount Jewett Sportsman Club and the Wilcox Sportsman Club.
John had also served in the Army during the Vietnam War.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one sister, Mary “Suzie” Karalfa of Toledo, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Gary and Dennis McLaren.
Friends will be received at the Cummings Funeral Home on Thursday (Dec. 29) from 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral ceremony will be conducted on Friday (Dec. 30) at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. David Pflieger, officiating. Burial and military honors will follow in Nebo Cemetery.

Scott A. Canfield, Jr., 40, of Bradford, PA passed away on Tuesday, December 27, 2022.
He was born on December 14, 1982 in Bradford; a son of Scott Canfield Sr. and Carol Jackson Richardson of Bradford.
In addition to his mother; he is also survived by four children, Cole Canfield, Elijah Canfield, Kadence Canfield and Jaxon Canfield all of Bradford; two brothers, Ron Jackson of Bradford and Allen Canfield of Grand Prairie, TX; one sister, Tara Canfield of Grand Prairie, TX; one aunt, Kathy Witherell of Bradford; one uncle, Jim Jackson of Cowarts, AL and three nieces, Sierra and Kendra Jackson and Kaileigh Major.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
