John Ginkel, 85, of West Main St. Mt. Jewett, PA passed away Monday (April 3) at UPMC-Hamot. He was born in Crown, PA on June 21, 1937, the son of the late Edward and Elizabeth (Horam).Ginkel.
John had worked his entire life, from the time he was a teenager until this past year as a logger.
He is survived by four sons, Eugene “Gino” (Lisa) Ginkel of Mt. Jewett, Steve (Julie) Ginkel of MN, Randy Ginkel of Clermont and John (Sally) Ginkel Jr. of Marshburg; three daughters, Anna (Jim) Arthurs of Mt. Jewett, Pam (Paul) Arthurs of Hazel Hurst and Melissa (Eric) Austin of Kushequa; one brother Jim (Shirley) Ginkel of Warren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Betty, his parents, one daughter, Jane Ginkel and several siblings.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family.

James R. Swift, 89, of Bradford, formerly of Lewis Run, passed away Monday, April 3, 2023, at his residence.
Born on August 21, 1933, in Rixford, he was a son of the late James and Marie (Kellogg) Swift.
He attended school in Colville. He enlisted in the United States Army on January 4, 1954, and served until his honorable discharge on January 5, 1956.
On March 21, 1955, in Bradford, he married Eloise (Melinche) Swift. They were married 55 years before her death on August 10, 2010.
Jim worked for the Valley Hunt Club, Airco Spear, and retired from Trico.
He enjoyed collecting cars and going to car shows, hunting, gardening and working in his yard.
Surviving are his companion of five years, Patty Ann Vleminckx, of Bradford, two nieces, Barb Bussey, of Severn MD, and Debbie Chilson, of Bradford.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two sisters, Mildred Hurd, and Thelma Soulss, and one brother, Don Swift.
Private funeral services will be held for the family in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc., with Fr. Jim Gutting, of St. Bernard Church, officiating. Burial will be in St. Bernard Cemetery where military honors will be accorded with the United States Army and the Honor Guard of the American Legion Post 108.

Harold H. McConaghay, 92, of Galeton, PA, passed away on Tuesday, April 4, 2023 at The Green Home in Wellsboro, PA.
Born May 25, 1930, in Wharton, PA, he was a son of the late Wilbur and Mildred (Walker) McConaghay.
Harold was a 1949 graduate of Galeton High School and was a Veteran, having served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
On June 19, 1955 at the Galeton Presbyterian Church, he married the former Barbara Grant, who survives.
Harold worked and retired from the Consolidated Gas Company in Genesee, PA. He was a member of the All Saints’ Episcopal Church in Brookland, PA, a member and past Master of the Galeton Lodge #602-F. & A.M., a member of the Gale Hose Ambulance Company, and a member of the Potter County Consistory.
Harold was an outdoorsman, and enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Barbara McConaghay, are two sons, David (Tammy) McConaghay, Ulysses, PA and Allan McConaghay, Genesee, PA; a granddaughter, Katelyn (Kyle) Tice, Mansfield, PA; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Harold was predeceased by a two brothers, LeRoy McConaghay and Wilbur McConaghay, Jr.
A Private Memorial Service will be held at the family’s convenience. Military Honors will be accorded by the Potter County Honor Guard.

John “Big John” Burger, 69, of Emporium, PA passed away on Friday, March 31st, 2023.
He was born on January 23rd, 1954 in Coudersport, PA to the late Robert & Virginia (Cannon) Burger.
John spent most of his life traveling with the carnival & loved every second of it. Other than his passion for traveling with the carnival, he loved hunting, fishing & gardening. John was well liked among his friends and if he considered you a friend, there is nothing he wouldn’t do.
Surviving are his children Christie Hepfner & C. John Burger; his siblings Paula, Robert & Edward Burger; and his grandchildren Genna, Mackenzie & Kennedy.

Mary L. Francis, 84, of Lewis Run, died Sunday (April 2, 2023) at The Pavilion at BRMC, Bradford.
She was born August 23, 1938 in Port Allegany, the daughter of Henry and Catherine (Rossi) Keltz.
Mrs. Francis was a 1956 graduate of Port Allegany High School and was a 1959 graduate of the Bradford School of Nursing. Mrs. Francis work for all the local hospitals and several nursing homes. She was active as a private duty nurse in New Jersey, Florida and Pennsylvania.
Ms. Francis was member of the First Presbyterian Church of Port Allegany. She loved football and was a diehard Eagle’s fan. She was a cheerleader in high school. She loved arranging flowers and doing puzzles. She was involved with the STEPS program in Bradford. She loved her family, doting on her grandchildren, collecting recipes and baking for family events.
She is survived by three daughters; Christine (Sandy) Bussard of Harrisburg, NC, Crystal Keufer of Bradford, PA and Deborah (Larry) Laktash of Smethport, PA

Dennis S. “Denny” Trummer, 69, of Bradford, passed away on Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at his home after a long illness.
He was born on November 30, 1953 in Salamanca, NY and raised by the late Frederick Stearns and Florence Huff.
He was a 1971 graduate of the former Limestone High School, Limestone, NY; he later earned his CDL license.
On November 30, 2012 in Bradford; he married Joyce M. Richardson who survives.
He was a member of the Lt. John C. Roche Post 212 VFW, American Legion Post 108 and the Bradford Eagles Club. Denny was a talented musician who enjoyed singing and playing the guitar as a member of many local bands over the years.
He was employed as a truck driver for AR Trucking, Warren, for several years until his retirement in 2020.
In addition to his wife of ten years, Joyce Trummer of Bradford he is also survived by two sons, Mike (Kelly) Trummer of Lewis Run and Tom (Amy) Trummer of St. Louis, MO; one daughter, Nicole Kornacki of Bradford; ten grandchildren, Audra (Derreck) Carapellatti of Allegany, NY, Andy Trummer, Jordan Kornacki of Bradford, Blayre Trummer of Bradford, Bailey Westfall of Pittsburgh, Tyler Trummer of St. Louis, MO, Shayne Westfall of Lewis Run, Kory Yale of White Oak, GA, Eian Trummer of St. Louis, MO and Kelsey Yale of White Oak, GA; one great granddaughter, Karsyn Jo Kornacki of Bradford; two brothers, George (Sherry) Trummer of Franklinville, NY and Mike (Virginia) Trummer of Ohio; three sisters, Niki Case of Duke Center, Rhonda (Ron) Munday of Duke Center and Candy Dennison of Bradford; several nieces and nephews and a very special brother of the heart, Dave Clark.

Marsha M. Struble, 62, of Smethport, passed away Monday (April 3, 2023) at Mercy Hospital of Buffalo, NY.
She was born June 14, 1960 in St. Marys, PA, the daughter of Herman Eckert and Beverly Kent.
She was a graduate of St. Marys High School and attended beauty school. She worked as a personal care giver for many years before her retirement.
Marsha was a member of the Smethport American Legion Auxiliary and the Smethport VFW Auxiliary.
She was an avid fisherwoman and hunter. She was an amazing gardener, cook and loved canning and sharing her creations with friends and family to enjoy. She also volunteered with Special Olympics.
She is survived by her fiancee, Steve Spallina of Smethport

Billie R. Coy HOWELL, 52, of Wellsville, NY, died Monday, April 3, 2023 in St. Vincent Hospital, Erie, PA.
Born December 22, 1970, in Wellsville, she was the daughter of Arnold C. and Helen P. Armstrong Coy. In 1993, she married Michael D. Howell, who survives.
A 1989 high honors graduate of Wellsville Central School, she earned an associate’s degree in elementary education from Alfred State College. She also attended SUNY Oswego, studying elementary education. Billie was employed by Ames in Wellsville, Wellsville Manor, and Wellsville Central School as a substitute teacher. She home-schooled her two children.
Excelling in crafts, she enjoyed working with jewelry, resin, and scrapbooking. Billie was a member of Yorks Corners Mennonite Church. She loved her children immensely and cared for her nieces and nephews like they were her own.
Surviving besides her husband, Michael, are: two children, Adam Howell and Amy Howell; a brother Matthew (Consuelo) Coy of Wellsville; two sisters, Caroline (James) Hubbard of Wellsville and Angela (William) Cunningham of SC; a special sister, Dawn Schoenthal of Poca, WV; two aunts, Sharon (Les) Balch of Wellsville and Paula Borden of Centralia, IL; nieces and nephews. Delphine L. Johnson Campagna, 67, of Warren, PA, died Monday evening, April 3, 2023, at Titusville Hospital, Titusville, PA., after suffering an apparent heart attack.
Delphine was born October 29, 1955, in Warren, PA. She was the daughter of Delton Johnson and Constance “Connie” Froman Johnson Slater. She has lived in Warren most of her entire life. Delphine was a 1974 graduate of Warren Area High School. She loved her cats and her grandkids.
She is survived by her daughter – Anita Wolfe and her husband, Shannon of Jamestown, N.Y., 1 Sister – Debbie Braley and husband, Tim of Warren, PA., 5 Grandchildren – Corey Burt, Karissa Kontz, Skylar Beckford, Caden Beckford, Nevaeh Harris, 2 Step Grandchildren, 1 Step Great Granddaughter, 1 Great Grandson, 1 Great Granddaughter, several nieces.

James M. Greville III, 39, of Spruce Ave. in Kane, PA passed away early Tuesday morning (April 4) from injuries received in an ATV accident. He was born in Kane on Aug. 5, 1983, the son of James (Kathy) Greville II of Kane and Rita Greville of Daytona, FL.
Jim worked at Ardagh Group Glass in Port Allegany as an electrician. Prior to that he had done many satellite installations throughout the area and also managed the Carhartt portion of his father’s Photo and Sound store in Kane. He hurdled and high jumped for the Kane track team while in high school and had been on the all-time list for high jump for many years.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by two daughters, Arianna and Jocelyn Greville, both of Kane; one sister, Erica Wirta of Appleton, WI; one stepsister, Ashley Parik of Chicago, IL and his paternal grandmother, Dolores “Dee” Greville, of Kane. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews and several children who he raised like his own, including, Kayin Bard, Addison, Silas, Easton and Leonidas Plants.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, James Greville Sr. and his maternal grandparents, Fred and Delores “Dody” Johnson.

Michael G. McBreen, 71, of Bear Rd., Emporium, PA formerly of Ebensburg, passed away peacefully with his family by his side at his residence, Emporium, PA on Tuesday morning (April 4, 2023). He was born July 6, 1951 in Altoona, PA a son of the late Donald and Jean Griffith McBreen. On February 27, 1971 in Ebensburg, PA he married Nancy Makin, who survives. Mike and Nancy celebrated over 52 years of marriage.
After high school, Mike served with the US Coast Guard for four years. He then worked for eighteen years in the coal mines and then ten years as a security guard for homeland security. He was a member of the Emporium Moose Lodge, Miller-Raffaele Post 6221, VFW, the Cameron County Memorial Detail, Ebensburg Legion, and was a life member of May Hollow Sportsman Club, and the Sinnamahoning Sportsman Club. He was an avid hunter, trapper, fisherman, and loved being in the outdoors. He and his wife Nancy were able to live out their dream by living in the Hunts Run area.
In addition to his wife Nancy he is survived by two sons, Jeff McBreen, Pittsburgh;
and Josh McBreen (Tifany), Taxas; six grandchildren: Kagan, Mason, Trinity,Tamsyn, Josie and Orion; eight brothers and sisters, Jim McBreen (Susan), Maryland; Shelly Bittinger McBreen, Mechanicsburg, PA; Donald McBreen (Jan), Johnstown; Mark McBreen, Ashville, PA; Scott McBreen (Kathie), Ebensburg, PA; Douglas McBreen (Julie), Carroltown, PA; Kevin McBreen (Tricia), Ebensburg, PA; Martha McBreen (Stacey) Kentucky; numerous nieces and nephews.

Kenneth A. Goodier, age 76, of Osceola, PA passed away on April 2nd, 2023 surrounded by family.
He was born July 21st, 1946, in Corning NY to the late Arthur E. Goodier and Doris H. Space-Campbell. He married Sandra F. Goodier and they spent several loving years together before her passing on Dec 31st, 2012.
Kenneth worked at both the Elkland and Westfield Tannery’s until he started and ran Ken’s Auto and Salvage for 30 plus years at which time he retired, and his boys took over the business. Kenneth enjoyed hunting, competition shooting, working on Art’s stock car with him and visiting family and friends.
Ken leaves behind his children; Laurie (David) Freeman, Robert Goodier both of Osceola, Lisa Repard (Don Bailey) of Westfield and Jackie Fisher of Elkland; daughter-in-law; Melinda Goodier and son-in-law; George Pryslak. Ken is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 28 great- grandchildren, sister; Ellen Moon, brother-in-law; Roy (Deb) Mitchell, sisters-in-law; Joyce (David) Cook, Carol Goodier and Shirley Campbell; and many nieces and nephews.
Ken was preceded in death by his wife; Sandra, daughter; Roxanne Pryslak, son; Arthur Goodier, brother; Thomas Goodier, stepbrother; William Campbell, brother-in-law; Floyd Moon and granddaughter; Brittney Lowe.
Betty Jo Tanner, 88, of Elkland, PA passed away on March 31, 2023.
Betty grew up in Virginia where she met the love of her life, Guy Tanner, with whom she happily shared 61 years together.
Betty was a fiercely dedicated mom and homemaker. Holidays were always special. She loved animals with a passion. She enjoyed working in her yard, flea marketing and visiting with her friends.
Betty was preceded by her husband, Guy Tanner.
Surviving are her 3 sons, Guy Tanner of Big Flats, NY, Gary (Yvonne) Tanner and Scott (Lisa) Tanner; 3 grandchildren, Stephanie Jacobson, Scott Tanner, Jr. and Kylie (Hamilton) Schoonover; 4 great-grandchildren, Reed and Quinn Jacobson, Kinsley and Carson Schoonover and Dianna Tanner all from the Elkland area; sister, Patsy (Dennis) Holgate of Poquoson, VA; brother, Ross (Gail) Jones of Hampton, VA; brother-in-law, Dale (Danice) Tanner; sister-in-law’s, Jane (Donald) Cook and Earlene Tanner; and several nieces and nephews.

William G. Taylor, 88, of Route 646, Gifford, PA passed away Saturday (Apr. 1, 2023) at home, with family by his side.
Born Aug. 15, 1934, he was a son of John H. and Edna V. Gallup Taylor. On Jun. 12, 1954, in Eldred, he married Faye E. Farrell, who died May 30, 2020. They were married 65 years.
William was employed with Corning Glass Works, Bradford, retiring in 1989, after 21 of service. He also worked with his sons in the family excavating company. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and managed to visit all 50 states.
He was a member of the Hilltop Baptist Church of Gifford. He was an avid craftsman who built toys, furniture and designed & built his own home. He also loved to garden.
He is survived by two sons, David L. (Julie) Taylor of Gifford and Rodney A. Taylor; five grandchildren: Kristin Sledjeski, Kathryn Oberg, Andrew Taylor, David Taylor and Rebecca Williams; and 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Faye, a daughter, Dianna L. Taylor, three brothers: Edward, John Jr., and Raymond L. Taylor; four sisters: Naomi Covert, Beulah Zindren, Beatrice Dann, and Dorothy Kenneson.

Robert W. South, 76, of Harding Avenue, Bradford, PA passed away Monday, April 3, 2023, at the Penn Highlands Hospital, in St Marys.
Born June 9, 1946, in Bradford, he was a son of the late Harwell and Evelyn J. (Maben) South-Roberts.
On June 17, 1967, in High Point NC, he married Linda (Newton) South, who preceded him in death on November 2, 2021.
Bob was a 1964 graduate of Bradford Area High School. Following graduation, he enlisted in the US Army on July 9, 1964, and served until his honorable discharge on July 7, 1967.
Bob worked as custodian for the Bradford Area School District for 27 years. In his retirement, he served as the crossing guard for both Fretz and School Street.
In addition to his love for his family, Bob was deeply devoted to serving his community. He was an original member of the Big 30 All Star Charities Classic Committee serving as Secretary for 47 years before becoming President 3 years ago. He brought joy to many children and families by playing Santa Clause during the holidays throughout the community. Bob operated the scoreboard at many area fields and gymnasiums, including decades of Bradford Owl Football games. He was a long-standing PIAA Track and Field and Cross-Country Official working many local and district meets. He also worked for the Athletic Department at Pitt Bradford.
Bob was a member of the Hilltop Baptist Church, the American Legion Post 108 and VFW Post 212.
Surviving are three sons, Robert (Amy) South, of St. Johnsbury, VT, Bradley (Gigi Dupont) South, of Bradford, and Brian (Jennifer) South, of Bradford, five grandchildren, Sierra (Danny) Ehlers, Hannah (Cheyenne) Chavis, Audrey South, Lillian South, and Lucas South, three great-grandchildren, Lacey, Scarlett, and Jeremiah, two sisters, Mary Roberts, of Grand Meadow, MN, and Reba Lynn Williams, of Bradford, one brother, Jack H. (Vicki) Roberts, of Las Vegas, NV, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife of 54 years, Linda, one brother, Gary South and his mother’s brothers, the Maben’s.

Leshia B. Eberts, 58, of Spruce Street, Johnsonburg, PA passed away at her home on April 1, 2023, following a lengthy battle with Lupus.
She was born on September 22, 1964, in Brookville, a daughter of John and Ida Grace Barnett Plyler, who survive.
On April 15, 2019, she married Jeffrey Eberts, who survives. Together they shared their lives, having been together for more than 20 years.
In her free time, Leshia loved painting and doing arts and crafts. She also enjoyed being out in nature, especially while the sun was shining. Above all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren. Leshia was a beautiful person who was always happy, and she would greet everyone with a smile and a hug.
In addition to her parents and her husband Jeff, she is survived by 3 children; Ian Rigby of Johnsonburg, Kayleigh Rigby of Pittsburgh, and Jason Heffner of Dubois; by 3 stepchildren; Daniel, Jessica, and Ashley, and by her 12 beloved grandchildren. She is also survived by 5 sisters; Connie Brosius, Michelle Keim, Lorie Baker, Jill Stephens and Amanda Plyler, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Leshia was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents.

Roulette – Doris L. Kio, 95, of Bradford, PA passed away Sunday (April 2, 2023) at Bradford Ecumenical Home, Bradford.
She was born March 21, 1928 in Fall River, MA the daughter of Maruice and Lillian (Boucher) Botelho . On April 22, 1944 she married Philip Kio.
She attended school in New London , CT and graduated from Hunnington Institution of Norwich, CT.
Mrs. Kio was always a hard worker helping Phil on the farm and driving school bus as the first woman bus driver for Port Allegany School District. She Also worked as a nurse aid for the Port Allegany Hospital, as a waitress at the ABC Restaurant and owned her own Grinder (Sub) Shop in Norwich, Connecticut.
She was a very social person. She enjoyed meeting people at coffee and for outings. She loved Christmas and would crochet items for friends and family. She was well known for her delicious fudge.
She is survived by three sons: Thomas (Carlene) Kio of Roulette, Corwin (Hope) Kio of Port Allegany and Dennis (Lou) Kio of Lufkin TX.
Twelve grandchildren, Twenty eight great grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren
One brother: Maurice Botelho of Middleboro, Massachusetts
And several nieces and nephews,
She was preceded in death by her parents, one son Philip Kio, Jr, one grandson Shane Cook, three brothers and two sisters, Mike Botelho and Sheila Ferry, Janet, James and Fred Valere.

Wallace R. “Wally” Dyne, 92 of Oak St. in Kane, PA passed away Saturday (April 1) at UPMC-Kane.
He was born on May 27, 1930 in Kane, the son of the late Reid and Alice (Johnson) Dyne. On July 16, 1960, in Kane, he married Jo Ann Swanson, who preceded him in death.
Wally had worked at Quality Woodcraft in the very early 50’s and then went to work at Stackpole in 1952 and stayed there until his retirement.
He was a lifetime member of the Kane Fish and Game Club and very instrumental in the construction of the club. He served as a Gun Safety Instructor and was a member of the Kinzua Fish and Wildlife Association. Wally joined the Kane Elks Club in 1959 and was one of its oldest members.
He donated his time to Meals on Wheels and the Food Pantry, was involved with Scouting and was himself an Eagle Scout. He was an active member of Tabor Evangelical Lutheran Church and a regular donor during the American Red Cross Blood Drive.
He is survived by two sons, Steve (Kerri) Dyne and Bob Dyne, both of Kane; one daughter, Deb (Tom) Cunningham of James City; three granddaughters, Drea (Joe) Zuzek, Allison Emer and Sydney Dyne; one grandson, John Emer; two sisters, Joyce Langdon of Waterloo, NY and Beverly (Gerald “Bud”) Keneski of Lakewood Ranch, FL and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Brenda Emer.
Friends are invited to attend a memorial service, which will take place on Saturday (April 15) at Tabor Lutheran Church at 11:00 a.m. with The Rev. David Pflieger officiating. Interment will take place at Lebanon Lutheran Cemetery.

Harold A. Lister, 86, of Port Allegany, PA passed away Sunday (April 2, 2023) at Sena Kean Manor, Smethport.
He was born September 20, 1936 in Watertown, NY, the son of Harold Lister and Vivian Brooks. On Dec. 21, 1963, in Dansville, NY, he married Carolyn Lewis, who preceded him in death.
Harold graduated from Watertown NY High School and attended Williamsport Area Community College in Williamsport, PA receiving an Associate Degree in Industrial Arts/Printing. He instructed at Williamsport Area High School, worked for Dresser of Olean, NY, and then at Citizen Printing Shop in Olean, NY.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was an avid traditional bow hunter. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Olean, NY

Carol L. REES, 73, of Port Allegany, PA, formerly of Roulette, died Saturday, April 1, 2023 in Williamsport Hospital.
Born December 25, 1949, in Olean, NY, she was the daughter of Richard S. and Wilma A. Carlson Klein.
A graduate of Port Allegany High School, she devoted her life to raising her family. She was a Buffalo Bills fan.
Surviving are: three children, Wendy (Tom) Rees Manning of Port Allegany, Justin (Tina) Rees of Roulette, and Travis Gaines of Port Allegany; five grandchildren, Josh, Jake, Steven, Rikki, and Trevor; and four great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her longtime companion, Gordon Gaines; a daughter, Laurie Rees; and a sister, Janice Rennells.

Michael A. O’Leary, 68, of Gardeau Rd., Emporium, PA passed away peacefully at Guy & Mary Felt Manor, Emporium, PA on Sunday night (April 2, 2023).
He was born February 13, 1955 in St. Marys, PA a son of the late Charles and Marie Erhensberger O’Leary. In 1993 he married he married Lynne Schultz, who survives.
Mike graduated from Cameron County High School and then from technical school to become an electrician. He worked at Emporium Contracting, Crosby Contracting and then was a co-owner of Custom Contracting and Tile with Scott Baker.
Mike had a big laugh and smile that could light up a room according to his wife, Lynne. He loved riding motorcycles until an unfortunate encounter with a turkey and then a deer. He then shifted his interest to less dangerous tractors. He loved his dogs, and he loved sitting on his porch in Gardeau watching the deer and the wildlife.
In addition to his wife he is survived by a brother, John E. “Salty” Solveson (Mary), Emporium and a sister, Sally Mumford (John), Jersey Shore, PA.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

AUSTIN, Pa.—Lois C. VanWhy, 90, a longtime resident of Austin, PA passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2023, in Cole Manor, Coudersport.
Born on Sunday, December 11, 1932 in Wharton, she was a daughter of Roy and Martha Bair Logue. She was married to James “Jim” VanWhy, who predeceased her.
Lois was a graduate of Austin Area High School. In her early working years, Lois was employed by Sylvania in Emporium and also worked in various local establishments, including Ginzo’s Game Room in Austin. For many years Lois was employed as a cafeteria lady in Austin. She then was employed at Coudersport Head Start until her retirement.
Lois was a member of the Austin United Methodist Church. She was an extremely active life member of the Austin Volunteer Fire Department where she was a first responder in her early years and in later years was one of their most active social members. She had previously served as President of the Board of Directors of the department. She spent many Saturday nights chairing, working, or playing Bingo. She worked nearly every fundraiser and also loved running the annual yard sale with her good friend, Ruby.
She loved all the members of the fire department and their families too. She was fondly known by the “kids” of the fire department and also the many students she touched the lives of at the school, as “Gramma Lo”. She truly had a way of making each and every one of them feel special. Lois’s greatest love was her family, especially her grandchildren, and also loved spending time with her friend, Robin.
Left to cherish her memory are two sons, William “Bill” Wheaton of Spokane, Washington and Darren C. (Carla) VanWhy of Coudersport; four grandchildren, Shelly (Dale) Peters of Emporium, Gabrielle Helberg of Port Allegany, Nicholas (Kina) VanWhy of Houtzdale, and Connor (Kristen) VanWhy of Chattanooga, TN; several great-grandchildren; a brother, Harry Richard (Mary Jane) Logue of Sinnemahoning; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Lois was predeceased by a daughter, Amy; two sisters, Phylis Hudson and Jettie Bickford; and a brother, Jack Logue.
Family and friends may call from 4pm to 6pm on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at the Austin United Methodist Church, Turner Street, Austin where a memorial service will follow at 6pm with Pastor Todd Lamer, officiating. Private burial will be in Gilmore Cemetery next to her husband, Jim, and her beloved daughter, Amy.

Daniel R. Jackson, 47, of Salamanca, NY passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2023.
Born December 1, 1975, in Bradford, he is the son of Daniel R. Johnson and Kathryn D. Jackson. He was adopted and raised by Bernard and Thelma (Griffin) Jackson.
Dan was a 1994 graduate of Salamanca High School, where he excelled in football and lacrosse. During high school he was a Boy Scout and was two merit badges short of receiving his Eagle Scout Award.
He was formerly employed at Dallas-Morris Drilling, Keane Drilling, and most recently as a pipeliner for the International Brotherhood of Laborers Local 603.
Dan enjoyed fishing and was an avid Raiders fan.
Surviving in addition to his parents, is his longtime companion, Diane Jusko, three daughters, Cheyenne Jackson, Jocelyn Martin, and Francesca Jackson, one son, Christopher Jackson, five sisters, Christine Jackson, Jennie Johnson Petitt, Kimberly Jackson Smith, Billie Lynn McGraw, and Heather Hahn, three brothers, Timothy Jackson, Bernard Jackson Jr., and Robert Reid, and many nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends on Thursday April 6, 2023, from 11:00 AM to Noon in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc. 33 South Ave. in Bradford, followed by funeral services Noon, with Rev.
