Sara R. “Sally” Burkett, 91, of Derrick City, PA peacefully passed away unexpectedly at her home on Saturday, November 12, 2022.
She was born on June 15, 1931in Bradford, a daughter of the late A.O. and Elinor Meachem Alexander.
She was a 1949 graduate of the Bradford Senior High School.
On April 3, 1954 in Reno, NV; she married Howard R. Burkett who preceded her in death on July 11, 2012.
Sally was a proud wife of an Air Force officer who loved taking care of her family and baking; she was especially famous for making her peanut butter cookies.
She is survived by one daughter, Susan D. (Dr. David) Godfrey of Bradford; two sons, Howard R. (Julie) Burkett of Brackney and Jeffrey O. (Nancy) Burkett of Hallstead; one brother, John Alexander of Bradford; one sister, Karen Calderwood of Bradford; four grandchildren, Howard D. Burkett, Michael B. Burkett, Jessica N. (Michael) Misciagno and Alexander D. (Kimberly) Burkett; seven great grandchildren, Michaela, Bailey, Peyton, Chloe and Samantha Burkett and Dominic and Erik Misciagno and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband she was also preceded in death by four brothers, Mahlon “Fat” Alexander, James Alexander, Gerald “Meach” Alexander and Samuel Alexander and two sisters, Molly McAndrews and Elinor Wasden
A private celebration of her life will be held at the convenience of the family.
