Leo F. “Link” Simbeck, 99, of South Michael Street, St. Marys, PA passed away Saturday, June 10, 2023 at DuBois Nursing Home, following a brief illness.
A lifelong resident of St. Marys, he was known for many contributions to the community. Leo spent seventeen years as a member of the board of St. Marys Area School District and was president during the building of the high school. An accomplished public speaker who gave keynote addresses during Memorial Day ceremonies and on many other occasions, he was a co-founder of the original St. Marys Toastmasters Club and a member throughout its existence. He was also a member of the Elk County Concert Association and served various terms as its president.
Leo was born on May 26, 1924, in St. Marys, son of the late Henry and Irene Davis Simbeck. He was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, Class of 1942 and was employed briefly by Speer Carbon Company before being drafted into the United States Army on March 11, 1943. He received his basic training with the 106th Roaring Lion Infantry Division at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. On D-Day, June 6, 1944, he was in a replacement camp in Wales. He arrived in France on July 1st and was assigned to the 83rd Ohio Infantry Division. He spent four days on the front lines and four months in hospitals in England after being wounded on July 14, 1944.
He was returned to his unit in time to serve in the Battle of the Bulge in December of 1944. The war in Europe ended on May 8, 1945 and Leo celebrated his 21st birthday as the military commandant of a farm village in Bavaria. He was discharged on December 7, 1945, four years to the day after the U.S’s formal entry into the war.
Under the GI Bill, he enrolled in the Pennsylvania State College, earning a B.S. degree in electrical power engineering. He was a licensed professional engineer by examination and spent his professional life as an employee of Speer Carbon Company and its successor, Airco Carbon, which became a division of the BOC Group, from which he retired on October 2, 1984, after 38 years of service to the company
On June 13, 1949, in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Leo married the late Mary Grace “Sis” Straub, who preceded him in death on January 8, 1988.
Leo is survived by his daughter, Irene Hanchar (Frank) of Mahaffey, PA; two sons: Leo J. Simbeck (Linda) of St. Marys and Ira M. Simbeck (Barbara) of Kersey; eleven grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents, Leo was preceded in death by five sisters: Henrietta “Kunny” Roussey, Marie “Wiggy” Rezmerski, Ruth Meyer, Ethel “Boots” Barnes, and Edna Straub; three brothers: Richard “Dick” Simbeck, Robert Simbeck, and Aaron Simbeck. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated in the Queen of the World Church on Friday, June 16, 2023, at 11:00 AM, with the Rev. Paul R. Taylor, O.S.B., celebrating. Full military honors will be accorded by the St. Marys Servicemen’s Burial Detail. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be held in the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Friday, June 16, 2023 from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM.

Lois Ann “Nanner” Loree Hoffman, 93, Of Warren, PA passed away on Saturday, June 10, 2023, in Kinzua Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born on August 9, 1929, in Warren, PA, the daughter of the late Ralph Raymond Loree and Mary Victoria Thompson Loree. Lois graduated from Warren High School in 1947. She was a member of the former Epworth Methodist Church. Among other jobs, she was the lunch cook at the former Alleghany Hotel for 16 years.
Lois is survived by her children; one daughter, Nan Oviatt and Brian of Pittsfield, PA, and one son, Dan Hoffman and wife Erin of Warren; grandchildren, Nicole Klark, Ben Oviatt of Jamestown, NY, and Seth Taber Hoffman of Warren; great-granddaughter, Alivia Lee Hoffman of Warren; nephew, James Loree, and wife Brenda; grand nephews, Jason Loree of Warren, and Jacob Loree of Pittsburgh; and a niece, Stacy Loree of Warren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Chadwick Peterson; brother, Ralph Thompson Loree; nephew, Thomas A. Loree; two sister in laws, Rachel Blumquist Loree, and Joan Thomas; two cousins, William “Bill” Lucas, and Jean Louise Ryberg Yaegle.

Elijah M. “Eli” Mihalko, 17, of Kennedy St. Bradford, PA passed away Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at Erie County Medical Center, in Buffalo NY.
Born July 25, 2005, in Bradford, he was a son of Tabatha A. (Root) Mihalko, and Timothy M. Mihalko, both of Bradford.
He was a 2023 graduate of Bradford High School.
Eli enjoyed riding his bike, roller blading, wrestling with his nephews and niece, playing Fortnite and Rocket League, and just hanging with friends and family.

Calvin LeRoy (Roy) Christensen, 78, of Manchester Center, Vermont, and formerly of Warren, PA. died peacefully in Bennington, VT. on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, after a 5 year battle with cancer.
He was born in Warren, PA., on February 6, 1945. Roy was the son of Elmer and Hazel Christensen. He had resided in Warren, PA., for 68 years, then moved to Florida and then to Vermont to live with grandchildren.
He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the U.S. Army from 1964 to 1970, where he was honorably discharged into the Army reserves. He was employed with the former New Process Company, until his retirement.
He was a member of the American Legion and V.F.W. in Vermont.
He is survived by his 2 children – Jaimi Christensen of Winhail, VT., Brandi Yeatman of Enosburg Falls, VT., 1 sister – Susie Pirillo of Warren, PA., 4 Grandchildren – Jamieson & Preston Christensen, Calvin & Helen Yeatman.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marti, whom he married in 1970 at Grace Methodist Church, Warren, PA.

Shirley M. Pearson, 99, of Warren, PA, passed away on Wednesday June 7, 2023, in the Warren General Hospital.
She was born in Cassadaga, New York on April 26, 1924, the daughter of the late Walter L. and Marion Albee Mellor. Shirley was a graduate of Russell High School, Class of 1942. She worked for JC Penney’s for 15 years and worked for PNC Bank as a teller for 15 years as well.
Shirley loved to travel, she and her husband Stanley traveled all over the United States traveling to all but two states, they also traveled to Europe, and Puerto Rico. In her later years she enjoyed walking, puzzles, and spending time with her loving family.
Shirley was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, where she volunteered with numerous committees. She was also a founding member of Sweet Adelines.
On April 6, 1946, she married Stanley L. Pearson in Painesville, OH, and they spent 77 years of loving marriage together.
Shirley is survived by her loving husband, Stanley L. Pearson, of Warren, PA; one daughter Kathryn A. Albaugh of Clarendon; three grandchildren Karla Drake and husband Darren of Virginia Beach, VA, Chris Albaugh and wife Jena of Sheffield, PA, and Todd Albaugh of Warren, PA; five great grandchildren, Mason, Cale, Nolan, Alyssa, Adam; one great great-grandson, Ryland; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son in law, Doyle Albaugh, sister Beatrice Koch, and her brother Walter Mellor.

Allyson N. Auge, 36, of 6710 Oyler Avenue, Kill Buck, NY, passed away unexpectedly, Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at her residence after a long battle with Crohn’s.
Allyson was born in Olean, NY on December 12, 1986. She was a daughter of Julie (Beer) Newman, of Bradford, and the late Thomas Riddle. She was a 2004 graduate of Bradford High School.
On August 13, 2016, in Allegany NY, she married Carl T. Auge who survives.
Allyson’s greatest joy in life was her children. Even on her most challenging days, you would still see her in attendance supporting her children during band concerts, football games, baseball games, basketball games, and cheering events. She lived for those special moments with the ones that she loved so much, including her dog Hunter who never left her side.
She was the president of the Salamanca Youth Football Sabers Organization from 2020-2022.
Surviving in addition to her husband Carl of Kill Buck NY, and mother Julie of Bradford, are one daughter, Chloe Holleran, three sons, Cory Holleran, and twins, Logan and Lucas Auge, all at home. Additionally, four sisters: Marina Newman, Alise Newman, Marissa Newman, and Andrea Newman, all of Bradford, one brother, Aaron (Hannah) Bobenrieth of Rixford, one sister-in-law, Katie (Matt) Auge, her maternal grandfather, Dan Fitzgerald of Lewis Run, paternal grandparents, Robert and Carol Riddle of White, GA, one niece, Ivy Bobenrieth, and her in-laws, Mary Kay and Chuck Oyler of Little Valley, and Don and Tammy Auge of Great Valley, NY, along with many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas, who died in December of 2021, and her maternal grandmother, Carol Fitzgerald who died October 2022.

Patricia Louise Denniston, age 70, of Coudersport, PA passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, June 6, 2023.
Pat was born in Altoona, PA on March 23, 1953, to Margaret (Skillen) Denniston and Guy W. Denniston.
Books, reading, and teaching children were her passion and she made that her life’s work. Pat graduated from the former Mansfield State College in 1975 and later received her MS in Library Sciences from the former Clarion State College.
Following graduation from college, Pat was hired as the first librarian of the Austin Area School District. She selected all the books for the new library, which served students from pre -kindergarten through grade 12. She thoroughly enjoyed teaching library and research skills to the older students. However, her passion was introducing the joy of books to younger students by reading, storytelling, and puppetry. Pat also computerized the library, learning the necessary computer skills as she went and then sharing those skills with her students.
She was the school librarian at Austin Area School District from 1975 to 2010, retiring that year after 35 years of service.
Over the years, her hobbies included crafts and needlepoint. Most recently she enjoyed volunteering her time at the Coudersport Historical Society and lunching with regional librarians, friends, and retired schoolteachers.
Pat is survived by her mother, Margaret Denniston, Grove City, a sister Dr. Katherine J Denniston, Mt. Airy, MD, a brother Bruce Denniston (Debra) Grove City and an Aunt Jean Snead, Cabot, PA.
She is also survived by her beloved nieces and nephews, Andrew Haapala (Anne Maury), Amanda Haapala Chalk (Gary), Cassandra Stull (Ryan), Cara Enny (John), and Carly Smith (Andrew). Surviving grand-nieces and grand-nephews, who enjoyed her legendary storytelling and puppeteering, include Sophia Stull, Jack and Felix Enny, Wesley, Harvey and Beatrix Smith, Jacks Haapala, and Rowan and Daryn Chalk.
Along with her cherished community, Pat also leaves behind two very dear friends, Bea Sonnekalb and Julia Kolat, with whom she shared daily chats, outings, and celebrations.
She was preceded in death by her father.

HUNTERSVILLE, NC—Willard Eric Baker, 80, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on Tuesday, June 6, 2023, near his home in Huntersville, NC.
Eric was born on July 11, 1942, in Wilmington, Delaware, to his parents Frances and William Baker.
He graduated from H. Fletcher Brown Vocational High School in Wilmington. In 1962, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, and honorably served as an airplane mechanic for 4 years.
Upon his release from active duty in 1966, he attended flight school and worked as a commercial airline pilot for 44 years. The primary airliner he flew was the Convair 580. After he reached the required maximum age to serve as an airline captain, he worked as a flight engineer on Boeing 727s.
Eric is survived by “the love of his life” Donna, whom he met nearly 30 years ago, and later married. They had a close and loving marriage and had lived together in the Charlotte and Huntersville area since 1997.
Eric is also survived by his three sons, Eric, Andy, and Billy, and his stepson, Erich. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Chase, Jennifer, Katie, Landon, and Brynn, and his step-grandchildren, Alex and Andy, who fondly called him “Eek.”
Eric loved to read books. In addition, his other hobbies included cars, motorcycles, working on his home, antiquing, and traveling.
Private funeral services will be held on Monday, June 12, 2023, at the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse, PA. Eric will be laid to rest in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Shinglehouse.

William Emory Dake, age 71, of Osceola, PA passed away on June 6, 2023 at his home surrounded by his family.
Born January 5, 1952 in Port Allegany, PA, he was a son to the late Albert B. and Alice A. (Mattison) Dake.
Bill was proud he came from a rather large family, having 10 siblings and two loving parents. William lived in Osceola with his loving spouse, Anna Owings, for 37 years up until his passing.
Bill enjoyed his work and was very proud of it – he was a woodcutter at his brother’s company, Dake’s Logging, for several years and afterwards he worked for Asplundh Tree Company until he retired.
He enjoyed playing solitaire, watching old western shows, fishing and collecting things such as coins and knives. Bill was known for his metal work, he would be the man you’d go to for anything that needed welded. It was said that nothing would break once William had welded it. He also was a tinkerer, any chance he got he would be taking things apart and putting them back together.
Bill also enjoyed spending time with his family and his beloved dogs; Sport, CoJoe, Shilo and Benjy.
William is survived by his loving wife, Anna Owings; children, Mathew (Mitsy) and Timothy (Robin) Dake; grandchildren, Cherish, Diana and Joseph Dake; 4 great-grandchildren; siblings, Sue Surine, Jim and Harry Dake; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by both his parents; his beloved son, Jason Dake who passed on March 28, 2019; and his siblings, Betty, Charlie, Herb, Arlene, June Dake, Donna McFall, and Sandy Davis.
A celebration of life will be held at 4:00 pm on Thursday, June 8, 2023 at the Osceola Fire Department, 7654 State Rte 49, Osceola, PA 16942.

Carol J. Connolly, 80, of Newell Creek Road, Eldred, PA passed away on Friday (June 2, 2023) at home surrounded by her family.
Born on Aug. 12, 1942, she was the daughter of David and Marion Davis Lee. On Jan. 14, 1961, in Olean, N.Y., she married Thomas “Tink” Connolly, who preceded her in death on July 24, 2017.
Carol was a 1960 graduate of Port Allegany High School. She was a lifelong resident of Newell Creek Road and was formerly employed by Corning Glass, and then retired from the former Ball InCon after 26 years.
She was a member of the Port Allegany Moose #460, The American Legion Post #887 of Eldred, Auxiliary, The Eldred VFW Post# 2092 and the Order of the Eastern Star. She loved photography, traveling on the Harley and was the head of the Liberty Majorettes in high school. Carol also enjoyed dirt track racing and was an avid Dale Earnhardt fan. She also enjoyed working and helping to operate the family farm with her husband and family.
Surviving is one son, Duane (Missy) Connolly of Newell Creek; one daughter, Tina Connolly of Smethport; two grandchildren, Courtney Jeremias and Cody Connolly; five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday (June 8, 2023) at the Frame Funeral Home, Eldred, from 2 to 5 p.m. There will be a graveside service held at Lamphier Cemetery on Friday, (June 9, 2023) at 11 a.m.

Connie R. Sikes, 74, of Shinglehouse, PA passed away on Wednesday, June 7, 2023, in UPMC Cole Place, Coudersport, after a short illness.
Born on Thursday, March 31, 1949 in Wellsboro, she was a daughter of Harley and Eunice Clark Worthington. In Ceres, she married Donald L. Sikes, who survives.
Connie was a graduate of Oswayo Valley High School in Shinglehouse. She attended the former Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Shinglehouse. She loved spending time with her family and close friends. She also loved watching wrestling on Monday nights, but most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband; four children, Tracey Damon of Oswayo, Dawn (James) Hunter of Arlington, Texas, David Sikes of Pittsburgh, and Kimberly (Scott) Shelp of Shinglehouse; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; three brothers, William (Tracy) Worthington of Tavares, Florida, Lyle (Francine) Worthington of West Clarksville, N.Y., and Harold (Alice) Worthington of Portville, N.Y.; two sisters, Audrey Sweitzer of Lewistown and Diane Harvey of Eldred; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Connie was predeceased by a daughter, Veronica Unverdorben; two brothers; and three sisters.
In keeping with Connie’s wishes, there will be no public visitation or funeral services.

COUDERSPORT, Pa.—Gary Allen Sturdevant, 90, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great- grandfather and brother, a lifelong resident of Coudersport, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, June 7, 2023, in his home surrounded by his loving family.
Gary was born on August 11, 1932 in Coudersport. He was adopted and raised by his grandparents, Amos and Nellie Sturdevant. As a child he attended the Hebron Center and Coneville Schoolhouses and later attended the Coudersport High School. While in high school, he was a member of the FFA Spud Growers Chapter.
On May 17, 1952, he married the love of his life, Donna Mae Baker, who survives. They were wed at the Methodist Parsonage in Coudersport, with Kip and Shirley Saulter by their sides as attendants. During their 71 years of marriage, they were blessed with four children, who brought years of joy to their lives. Gary enjoyed fishing, mowing his lawn with his Wheelhorse and he especially enjoyed the yearly family summer trips to Maine. There, he enjoyed camping and fishing on Raymond Pond and Crescent Lake with his family.
He also immensely enjoyed watching his grandsons, Tyler and Troy Schroeder play soccer, his granddaughters, Krista, Kim, Gabby and Emma and his grandsons, Rodney Jr. and Jake ride and show their animals at the fair, and his grandson, Andrew and granddaughter, Bethie show their cows at the local fairs. His favorite past-time was playing his harmonica and listening to polka and bluegrass music.
Gary was a true “jack of all trades” and held a wide knowledge of being able to fix anything from his long work history. He was employed by Clark Brothers of Olean, LH Lincoln, Nestole Road and Gerner Electric. He was also a Hebron Township Supervisor for many years, but he is most famously known as the owner and operator of Gary Sturdevant General Contracting for over 40 years. His love and faith in the Lord carried him through the years and he was a member of the North Eulalia Baptist Church in Coudersport.
In addition to his grandparents and his biological mother, Louise Lawton, Gary was preceded in death by three siblings; Amos Lawton, Jerry Lawton and Diane Carlin.
Gary will be greatly missed by, not only Donna, but their four children as well; Terry (Linda) Sturdevant of Coudersport, Steve (Valerie) Sturdevant of Coudersport, JoElla (Alan) Kinney of Port Allegany and Kathy (Jeff) Schroeder of Coudersport.
He was blessed with many grandchildren; Krista (Rod) Doran of Coudersport, Kimberly (John) Dailey of Coudersport, Andrew Kinney of Philadelphia, Bethie (Ben) Pevornik of Port Allegany, Tyler (Brianna) Schroeder of Port Allegany and Troy (Teagen) Schroeder of Coudersport.
Gary is also survived by a sister, Tammy Allen of Andover, N.Y.
Gary loved his family and they were his greatest accomplishment. He had the pleasure of watching eight great grandchildren; Gabby, Rodney Jr., Emma, Jake, Cole, Sawyer, Ella and Emilia; one great great grandson, Duke Amos and several beloved nieces and nephews grow.
His funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at his lifelong church, North Eulalia Baptist Church, 683 SR 49, Coudersport, with a viewing from 11:00am to 1:00pm, with a service officiated by Pastor Michael Reeves at 1:00pm. Gary will be laid to rest in the Hollenbeck Cemetery in Coudersport.

Diana Joan FISHER, 75, of Wellsville, NY, died Saturday, June 3, 2023 in her home. Born November 20, 1947, in Olean, she was the daughter of Albert L. and Stella T. Zapel Burdick. Diana was an artist and enjoyed cooking and baking for her family.
Surviving are: three sons, Todd (Sherry) Fisher of Wellsville, James (Tara) Fisher of Wellsville, and Dean Fisher of Rochester; five grandchildren, Jessica Fisher, Brianna Fisher, Brittany Mesler, Dalton Fisher, and Justin Fisher; a great-grandson, Callen Reed; three step-children, Jonathon Armstrong, Lori Dandride, and Tracy Ahrens, all of Wellsville; two sisters, Gail Cangialosi of Rochester and Betsy Eade of Florida; two brothers, Albert Burdick, Jr of Michigan and Stephen (Gloria) Burdick of Rochester; nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; former husband, Leslie D. Fisher; and her significant other of over 20 years, John Armstrong.

James R. Sortore, 93, of Bradford, PA passed away on Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at the Olean General Hospital, Olean, NY.
He was born on October 27, 1929 in Bradford, a son of the late Raymond and Mary (Smith) Sortore.
James attended the Bradford Area High School; graduating in 1947. He went to work for the former Kendall Witco Refinery in 1947 as a laboratory technician until his retirement in 1995. He then worked throughout the years after his retirement as a part-time consultant for the laboratory at the refinery until 2007.
He served in the United States Army during the Korean war from 1949 until his honorable discharge in 1950.
James was actively involved in the SPEBQSA (Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Quartet Singing in America) and sang baritone in several quartets throughout the years in Bradford, Olean, Saint Marys and Coudersport. James a talented artist and created the backdrops and scenery for the annual Barbershop Quartet and Chorus shows in Olean for many years. He was also a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Bradford; where he was active in the chorus.
He is survived by one son, William Sortore and his wife Christine (Fox) Sortore of Bradford; one grandson, Tyler Sortore of Bradford and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by three brothers, Raymond Sortore, Allen Sortore and Glenn Sortore and one sister, Virginia Von Carlowitz.
A private memorial service will be held by the family at a later date.
Burial will be in the Duke Center Cemetery, Duke Center.

Ronald D. Mix, 90, of Belfast, NY passed away Sunday (June 4) in The Jones Memorial Hospital in Wellsville. He was born in Eldred on July 22, 1932, the son of the late Herbert and Ester (Stall) Mix.
Ron attended the Mt. Jewett School where he graduated in 1951. During his schooling he was a cheerleader for the Mt. Jewett Magicians. Ron was the schools only male to earn a varsity letter and jacket in cheerleading. He then served in the US Army during the Korean War, being deployed to Germany. After being honorably discharged, he attended St. Bonaventure where he earned a bachelor’s degree in business education. From there he taught for ten years in the Belfast School system.
Ron’s next journey became his life’s passion, owning and running the Belfast Hotel. It was his pride and joy for over 40 years. He loved the public and was a devoted generous soul, always there to help his community. His love of the public was second only to his love of his family. He always checked on everyone to make sure all was okay. He had an amazing ability to recall everyone’s special dates, whether it be a birthday or anniversary.
He was a member of the Mt. Jewett Legion American Legion Post 574, the VFW Post 6347 and a member of the Lions Club in Belfast, NY.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Richard who was killed in action during WWII, Herbert “Pete” and Wendell “Bill” Mix; a nephew, Robert Mix and a great nephew Robert “Mike” Mix.
He leaves behind three nephews and six nieces, one that was extra special to him, his goddaughter, Cathy. He is also survived by 3 cousins, 10 great nephews, 5 great nieces, 8 great-great nephews, 14 great-great nieces, 2 great-great-great nephews and 5 great-great-great nieces.
Friends are invited to attend visitations at the Cummings Funeral Home in Kane on Thursday (June 8) from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and also on Friday from 10:00-11:00 a.m. A memorial service will take place on Friday (June 9) at Noon at the Mt. Jewett United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Beverly Spore officiating.

Patricia Ann (Kerr) Watkins, age 74, of Horseheads, NY, passed away on Sunday, June 4, 2023.
She was born on December 21, 1948 in Indianapolis, IN a daughter of the late Raymond and Barbara (Mortensen) Kerr and was the wife of the late John W. Watkins, Sr.
Patricia was a home economics teacher for most of her life and was very active in her church. She loved sewing, wintering at her “cottage” in Florida, decorating and celebrating the holidays and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her son: John (Kerri) Watkins, of Churchville, NY, daughter: Anne (Chris) Fenton of Horseheads, NY, sister: Sue (Bill) Niles of Wellsboro, PA, brother-in-law: Bob Watkins of Watkins Glen, NY, and four grandchildren: Ben, Andrew, Katie, and Maggie.
She was predeceased by a brother: Richard Kerr.

Emmagean A. Corbin, a lifelong resident of Eldred, passed away peacefully on Tuesday (June 6, 2023).
Born Feb. 8, 1928, she was the daughter of Howard and Olive Semelsberger Weakland. On Sept. 30, 1950, she married Kenneth Corbin, who predeceased her on Feb. 10, 1989.
Mrs. Corbin worked for over 40 years for the former American Olean Tile Company. She enjoyed traveling, jigsaw puzzles, playing cards, and sudoku puzzles.
She is survived by; one daughter, Kay (Kristen Thomson) Corbin of Eldred; several nieces and nephews, including a very special niece, Lisa Folts of Olean, N.Y.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Corben was predeceased by her three brothers, Howard Weakland, Paul Weakland, and Conrad Weakland; and one sister, Sylvia Russell.
Friends will be received at the Guenther Funeral Home Inc., 1303 E. State Street, Olean on Monday (June 12, 2023) from 10 a.m. to noon. Funeral services will begin at noon in the funeral home. Burial will be in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Portville, N.Y.

David C. “Wally” Post, 76, of Warren, PA., died Sunday evening, June 4, 2023, after an extended illness. He was born September 1, 1946, in Warren, PA. He was the son of Wilbur and Bernice K. Pierce Post. He had served with the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1968 in Germany. Wally was employed with the former New Process Company for 40 years and retired from Warren Times Observer in the advertising department after several years employment. He was a member of the Warren Jaycees since 1972 and was instrumental in forming the Warren County 4th of July Organization. He was a member of St. Joseph R.C. Church, Warren American Legion Post, Warren Eagle Aerie. Wally was a diehard Buffalo Bills fan.
Wally is survived by his wife, Polly B Post of Warren, PA., a son, Michael Post (Natalie), and granddaughter, Erin Elizabeth Post all of Frederick, MD., brother, Wilbur Post (Linda) of Gilbert, AZ., niece, Jenna Post (Tushar) of Sharma, TX, great niece – Jia Bee, nephew, Collin Post (Janin), great niece, Johanna Ruby of N.C. and all of his 4th of July family.

James C. Henderson, 86, of Henderson Road, Lewis Run, passed away, Monday, June 5, 2023, at ECMC in Buffalo NY.
Born February 12, 1937, in Bradford, he was a son of the late Thomas A. and Freda (Goodwill) Henderson Sr., he attended schools in Lafayette and Buffalo.
On September 8, 1954, he entered the United States Navy. He served overseas on submarines until he was honorably discharged on December 12,1957.
In 1959 after returning from the service he married Phyllis (Overholt) Henderson who preceded him in death.
Jim graduated from Williamsport Tech as a Diesel Mechanic and moved to Buffalo, NY where he worked for several companies before working at Consolidated Freightways, in Tonawanda, NY for 18 years.
Jim later married Barbara (Brown) Henderson and returned to reside in Lewis Run. He began working at the Area Transportation Authority as Head Mechanic from which he retired in 2000. Bored with retirement he worked for C.J. Morris as a mechanic and Dallas-Morris Drilling as a heavy equipment operator until 2010.
After retirement he enjoyed working in his self-taught wood shop, crafting many
wonderful things.
Surviving are his wife, Barbara of 44 years, four children, James (Annette) Henderson Jr, of Lewis Run, Bonnie (Dave) Vaughn of Churchville, NY, Delores Henderson of N. Tonawanda, NY, and Cindy (John) Baker of Lewiston, NY, two stepchildren, Donald (Denise) Myers of Erial, NJ and Daniel (Heidi) Myers of Savage, MN, 15 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, one sister, Marjory (John) Knox of Lewis Run, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, four sisters, Delores Wasson, Virginia Henderson, Jane Coskey, and Janet DiFonzo and two brothers, Charles Henderson, and Thomas Henderson.
Private graveside services will be held for family members at McKean Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Jeremy Childs, Pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating, followed by members of the United State Navy and the Honor Guard of the Bradford American Legion Post 108, according Full Military Honors.

James H. McPHERSON, 84, of Ulysses, PA, formerly of Asbury and Flemington, NJ, died Monday, June 5, 2023 in UPMC Cole, Coudersport. Born December 3, 1938, in Sunnyside, NJ, he was the son of Hervey and Dorothy Arnenson McPherson. He was married to Bessie Thompson McPherson, who predeceased him on May 24, 2023. A U.S. Army Veteran, he served honorably from 1962 – 1964. He was employed by Johnson & Johnson in Pittstown, NJ and Raritan, NJ for 28 years. Jim was a member of Carl E. Hyde American Legion Post #963 in Ulysses and the NRA.
Surviving are: three children, James B. McPherson, Jesse McPherson, and Thomas Motto; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Cassullo; nieces and nephews.

Thomas A. Stilwell, 80, of Warren, PA, died with his family at his side, on Monday, June 5, 2023, at AHN-St. Vincent Hospital, Erie, PA., after an extended illness.
He was born November 20, 1942, in Warren, PA., to the late Maurice J. and Clara Ertola Stilwell. Tom was a Warren area resident his entire life.
Tom was a 1960 graduate of Warren High School. He had served with the United States Marine Corp., during the. Vietnam War, where he earned a good conduct medal and rifle M-1 Sharpshooters Badge.
He was employed with the former Blair Corporation in the IT Department and retired from there as Assistant Vice President. He was an active member of St. Joseph R.C. Church, Warren Knights of Columbus, Warren Elks Club and Warren Eagles Aerie. Tom enjoyed fishing, playing cribbage and his weekly poker games.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Carol Lee Nason Stilwell whom he married July 10, 1965, in Warren, PA., 1 Son – Gregory Stilwell and wife, Heidi of Warren, PA., 2 Granddaughters – Kayla Sue Morgan and husband, Bryan of Kane, PA., Maleah Amy Lee Stilwell of Warren, PA., 2 Great Grandchildren – Wyatt Thomas Morgan and Whitney Constance Morgan of Kane, PA., his beloved cat, Booger, several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Joanne Slater.
