It’s probably safe to say that most people, given the chance to trade their cellphone for a landline, swap out their vehicle for a horse and buggy, or replace their washing machine with a bucket, a bar of rough homemade soap and a 100-yard walk to the nearest river, would opt to keep their modern conveniences.
Tools offering efficiency, ease and comfort are hard to forgo.

Butterflies
by
Pastor B.J. Knefley
Who doesn’t like watching a butterfly? Different ones are more interesting and unique than others. Some are large, others small. Regardless of the size, color or uniqueness, all started out small. Every butterfly starts out as a caterpillar and within every caterpillar is a butterfly. A caterpillar doesn’t have to wait to become a butterfly because they already are, they just haven’t gotten their wings yet.
As a follower of Christ, you and I have everything within us to be everything God has called us to be. In other words, you are already a beautiful butterfly able to soar to great heights. So why don’t we? Is it fear, lack of trust or do we just not understand His promises. How can we see and understand the worth and value of another when we can’t see it in ourselves?
In 2 Corinthians 5:17 the apostle Paul states, “This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!” Do you believe that? Do you see that? Those who belong to Christ have a new nature. Not will have, or might have, they have it now. How do we miss that truth? Is it because our old nature, the one we’ve battle for so long is so ingrained that it’s our go to response. Instead of seeing ourselves as conquers through Christ (Romans 8:37), we see ourselves as failures in need of being propped up. We don’t see ourselves as being complete, but rather unfinish in need of more work, more repentance and the need to try harder. Instead of seeing the butterfly that’s within us, we only see the caterpillar, and for many that equates to being a worm.
The Apostle Paul stated in Romans 7: 24-25“Oh, what a miserable person I am! Who will free me from this life that is dominated by sin and death? Thank God! The answer is in Jesus Christ our Lord.” The answer to freedom is before us if we choose to accept it. Think about it.
