In Wake of Philadelphia Looting, House Republicans Unveil Anti-Looting Bill Package
HARRISBURG – In the wake of recent rampant and violent looting in Philadelphia that caused significant property damage and loss, House Republicans today unveiled a package of anti-looting legislation that will increase penalties on looters, put additional teeth in juvenile curfews, crackdown on social media coordination of looting and enhance penalties for those looting state property, including liquor stores.
“The uncontrolled looting and violence we saw in Philadelphia recently was more than unacceptable: It was disastrous and disgusting,” said House Republican Leader Bryan Cutler (R-Lancaster).
“Pennsylvanians want safe communities—and they need them for neighborhoods to grow and thrive—so I am proud to see House Republicans step up and further our Keystone Commitment by introducing this package of bills to make our streets safer and help prevent this looting from occurring again.”
PFBC SEEKS INPUT FROM BOAT RENTAL BUSINESSES IN EFFORT TO INCREASE CUSTOMER ENJOYMENT AND SAFETY
HARRISBURG, Pa. (October 11) — As part of an effort to increase overall boater safety and enjoyment across the Commonwealth, the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC) is seeking information from boat rental businesses.
The PFBC wants to connect potential customers with boat rental opportunities. Owners of a boat rental business (also known as a livery) are encouraged to complete the questionnaire found at this link: https://bit.ly/BoatRentalQuestions.
Pennsylvania State Police Seized $21M in Prohibited Drugs in Third Quarter of 2023
Harrisburg, PA – Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) seized approximately $21.2 million in cocaine, methamphetamines, heroin, fentanyl, marijuana, and other prohibited drugs during the third quarter of 2023.
Troopers from July 1 to September 30 seized 318 pounds of cocaine, 183 pounds of methamphetamines, 141 pounds of fentanyl, 8 pounds of heroin, 2,175 pounds of processed marijuana, and 62,597 pills of assorted narcotics.
Yaw, Owlett Announce Grants for Area Recreation Projects
HARRISBURG – Rep. Clint Owlett (R-Tioga/Bradford) and Sen. Gene Yaw (R-23) today announced nearly $600,000 in funding has been awarded to communities in Bradford and Tioga counties.
“Our region has so much to offer when it comes to outdoor recreation, and it is always a good investment when we build on those opportunities,” Owlett said. “I commend our local leaders for their ongoing commitment to these projects.”

Emporium Library Seeking Board Member
The Barbara Moscato Brown Memorial Library (Cameron County Public Library) is seeking ONE Cameron County resident to fill a vacancy on the Library Board of Trustees.
The interested individual must have an understanding of our community and its needs and be willing to commit their time and effort to a public cause by attending regularly scheduled board meetings, committee meetings, and planning sessions. Public participation benefits all of Cameron County.
GALETON BOROUGH AUTHORITY REGULAR MEETING OCTOBER 3, 2023
The regular meeting of the Galeton Borough Authority was held on this date in the Municipal Building with the following members present: Tony Adami, Joe Cimino, George Bowen and Mike Brown. Not present was Tom Smith.
Others present were Solicitor-Mike Plummer; Engineer-Tim Tritch on phone; and Auth Secy.-Andrea Caracciolo.
The meeting was called to order at 5:00 PM by Chairman Adami followed by the Pledge to the Flag.

One Vehicle Rollover Crash In Foster Twp.
On October 11 at 9:15 Derrick City Fire and Bradford City Ambulance were dispatched to Derrick Rd. near Red Rock Hill for a one-vehicle rollover crash with entrapment. Air medical was dispatched. The vehicle is reported to be smoking. Otto Fire Dept has been requested to shut down Red Rock Hill on top. Bradford Twp. has been dispatched to assist at the scene

POTTER COUNTY REPUBLICAN CANDIDATES INVITED TO SPEAK WITH LOCAL VOTERS AT TOWN HALL STYLE MEETING ON WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 11 6:00 PM GALETON, PA; MOOSE LODGE, 5 EAST MAIN STREET, GALETON, PA
All Republican Candidates-both primary winners and write in candidates are invited to speak at this event which is being sponsored with FREE Admission to all by Potter county FREE PA Chapter. We invite all candidates-including incumbents and those running un-opposed to come out for the event for a chance to get to know the area voters and hear their concerns before the November 7th election.
This meeting is directed towards the candidates representing Potter County Magisterial District 55-4-03. Candidates for these Townships and Boros will be featured; Pike, West Branch, Abbott, Ulysses, Ulysses Boro, Bingham, Harrison, Stewardson and both Galeton wards. Don Kudrick, Potter county’s Republican Party Chairman will be on hand to speak and to introduce countywide candidates who are in attendance.
On-site Voter Registration assistance will also available- so if you have been considering registering (deadline to register is October 23’rd) to vote-please show up and be ready to vote this November! Each voter present will be permitted one question per candidate and will be able to follow up pertaining to the response from the candidate.
We would like to extend an invitation for all school board candidates to attend-as parents have valid concerns and would like to know where the candidates stand on important issues such as forced masking, potential forced vaccinations for their children and their stance on male trans-genders using the girls restrooms or locker rooms.
FREE PA Potter County will be serving complimentary soups, snacks and desserts as well as an ice cream social at the meeting…so stop by after work, we hope everyone can attend and share their concerns and comments with the candidates participating to help with their decision on who to vote for in November.

Dr. Wilson was awarded the Golden Stethoscope
Bradford, PA / Olean, NY – Upper Allegheny Health System (UAHS), parent company of Bradford Regional Medical Center (BRMC) and Olean General Hospital (OGH), presented the second 2023 Golden Stethoscope Award to Christian Wilson, MD, MBA. Dr. Wilson is currently a hospitalist at OGH but started in the role at BRMC in 2019.
The Golden Stethoscope Award is a result of nominations from employees and is presented semi-annually to a physician who exhibits an exceptional level of professionalism, integrity, and teamwork in caring for patients and families, as well as interacting with hospital staff members and fellow physicians.
Coudersport Rotary
At our September 25, 2023 meeting, District Governor Herb Smith gave an inspirational speech about what Rotary means to him. This year’s theme is Create Hope in the World. “Hope is being able to see light despite all the darkness.” ~ Desmond Tutu.
Herb says he serves with the motto, “You can have fun and still get a lot done to help the world.”
He noted that Rotarian Paul Herzig has been a member for over 40 years and Rotary Sergeant-At-Arms Jim Plotts for 56 years.
In February Herb will jump in the Susquehanna River as part of the Polar Bear Plunge to eradicate Polio. Last year they raised $27,000.
Pennsylvania House GOP Leaders Condemn Violence in Israel, Call for America’s Support
HARRISBURG – Pennsylvania House Republican leaders are standing in solidarity with the Israeli people as civilian violence by Hamas, which began on the 50th anniversary of the Yom Kippur War, continues to escalate.

As terrorists have invaded their sovereign borders, taken hostages, and launched offensive weapons that have killed more than 900 innocent Israelis and injured thousands more, Israel deserves America’s strong support.
