Cascade System Passed The Test
Portville Fire District – Engine Company #1
Yesterday morning around 5 am our cascade system was requested to assist Olean City at the scene of a structure fire on East State Street. Rescue 46 (portville 7) responded with a crew of two. Once on scene the crew assisted Olean City with filling their SCBA bottles. Our crew filled approx 70 bottles while on scene. We were released back into service around 10am.
This is the first time our new cascade system has truly been put to the test. We bought this current system when we bought the rescue in 2020, and while it’s been used numerous times since being placed into service this was it’s first true test. Filling 70+bottles is not a normal task. Our system held up great and could have continued to fill more if needed.
Great job by everyone operating on scene. It’s always great to see departments working well together.
