Carolyn Marie Taylor, of Shinglehouse, passed away Thursday, September 26, 2024 in her home, surrounded by loved ones after a courageous battle with cancer.
Carolyn was born in Shinglehouse, on April 24, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Alfred “Buck” and Ruby Hanson Kemp. On June 20, 1959 in the Ceres Methodist Church in Ceres, NY, she married Dorwin Taylor, who survives.
Carolyn attended the Shinglehouse school, later working for the Hewitt Manor Nursing home in Shinglehouse for many years. She loved spending time with her family, playing games with her children and grandchildren. Her hobbies were painting and crocheting.
Carolyn is survived by her husband of 65 years, Dorwin; her children, Merle (Julia) Taylor, Archie (Carol) Taylor, Kim (John) Braithwaite, and Lynne (Eric) Swartwout; 14 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, Buck and Ruby; and 2 brothers, Francis and Richard Kemp.
Family will receive friends at the Guenther Funeral Home, Inc., 51 S. Main Street, Portville on Wednesday (October 2, 2024) from 1 to 2pm with funeral services to follow at 2 pm in the funeral home. Burial to follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Shinglehouse, PA.
