Candi Ann Hendrickson, 40, of Central, Alaska
Candi Ann Hendrickson, 40, of Central, Alaska, passed away unexpectedly on May 28, 2023.
Candi was born on Sept. 9, 1982, in Jacksonville, North Carolina, to Cathy Davis Gelvin and Paul Lewis Jr. She was a happy and easygoing baby.
Before Candi turned 5 the family moved back to Pennsylvania. When she was 8 years old her mom tossed her and her brother, Terry, into her car and drove to Alaska. Candi turned 9 years old on this trip to Alaska.
Her first five years of her Alaska adventure were spent in the Athabascan Native village of Ruby on the Yukon River. She had a happy and fun life there. After five years her mom moved her and her brother, Terry, to the gold mining town of Central, Alaska. Candi would spend the remainder of her life in Central.
It was in Central, Alaska, that Candi met the love of her life, Jacob Hendrickson. On Aug. 12, 2006, her brother Terry walked her down the aisle and she became Jake’s wife. Candi was extremely happy, and they raised a beautiful family together.
Candi was a wife, mother, daughter, sister, crafter, baker, homeschool teacher, cook and many other things. She enjoyed many talents in life.
Candi leaves behind her husband, Jacob Hendrickson, and three children, Jade, Skylar and Braydon Hendrickson, all of Central, Alaska; her mom and stepdad, Cathy and Stanley Gelvin of Central, Alaska; mother-in-law, Becky Hendrickson of Central, Alaska, brother, Terry Lewis of Central, Alaska; stepbrother, James Gelvin of Circle, Alaska; stepsister, Keri (Chris) Gelvin-Bowen and family of Fairbanks, Alaska; stepsister, Barbara (Kris) Rudek and family of Maple Grove, Minnesota; father and stepmother, Paul and Lori Lewis and their son Roy, of Addison, New York; brother-in-law, B.J. Hendrickson of Fairbanks, Alaska; brother-in-law, Joshua (Amber) Hendrickson and family of Fairbanks, Alaska; brother-in-law, John Hendrickson of Central, Alaska; sister-in-law, JoHanna (Nick) Missina and family of Fairbanks, Alaska; grandparents, Arnold and Nina Davis of Westfield, Pennsylvania; grandfather, Paul Lewis Sr. of Westfield, Pennsylvania; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Candi is preceded in death by her stillborn son; father-in-law, Jack Hendrickson Jr.; brothers-in-law, Jedediah and Josiah Hendrickson; sister-in-law, Cyndie Hendrickson; and grandmother, Donna Lewis.
Candi will be laid to rest in the Central cemetery with a private family gathering. Later this summer there will be a celebration of life in Central, Alaska. This date will be announced later.
Candi was a beautiful person and will be forever missed.
