Cameron County Commissioners Acknowledge Delay in Election Results and Thank Law Enforcement for Swift Response to Bomb Threat
Cameron County, PA — The Cameron County Commissioners extend their gratitude to the Pennsylvania State Police, Emporium Borough Police, Cameron County Sheriff’s Office, and Cameron County Emergency Management Director for their swift and coordinated response to the bomb threat received on November 5, 2024. Their dedication ensured the safety of our community and allowed us to proceed with election-related activities as securely as possible under challenging circumstances.
Due to this incident, an alternate location was designated for poll workers to bring ballot results to the Board of Elections, where ballots remained secure until the county was cleared to begin counting. The count commenced shortly after 9:30 p.m. to ensure that every step was taken with care and precision.
Our team also encountered technical difficulties with our ballot scanning equipment, which led to a delay in posting results. However, our Election Office staff, with support and guidance from the Department of State, worked tirelessly to troubleshoot these issues. This allowed us to finalize and post unofficial results shortly after 2:30 a.m. The Cameron County Commissioners commend our Election Office Director and staff for their commitment and resilience in overcoming these challenges. Their efforts ensured that all ballots were securely handled and that the integrity of our election was upheld.
We appreciate the patience of our community as we worked through these unprecedented issues and remain committed to transparency, security, and accuracy in every aspect of the election process.
