BRADFORD MAN SENTENCED FOR DUI-RELATED DEATH IN JULY CRASH
UPDATED December 7, 2023: (MCKEAN COUNTY, Pennsylvania): District Attorney Stephanie Vettenburg-Shaffer reports that, following a sentencing hearing at the McKean County Courthouse, the Bradford man who was driving a vehicle while under the influence and crashed, causing a man’s death, was sentenced to a period of state incarceration.
Darian Ramdin pled guilty to Homicide by Vehicle while DUI, Aggravated Assault while DUI, Fleeing or Attempting to Elude Police and other charges for the crash on July 16, 2023 on East Main Street in Bradford.
Wallace Easton was killed in the crash and a juvenile female suffered serious injury. Both were passengers in the Ramdin vehicle.
Ramdin was sentenced by Judge John H. Pavlock to a term of incarceration of 4 years to 8 years plus 3 years of consecutive probation and other terms. At the time of the crash, Ramdin had been out on bail for a charge of delivery of marijuana.
Wallace Easton’s mother spoke at sentencing that her son’s organs were donated and, in that way, he lives on. Ramdin read a statement to the Court prior to sentencing.
ORIGINAL PRESS RELEASE: BRADFORD MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO HOMICIDE BY VEHICLE WHILE DUI (MCKEAN COUNTY, Pennsylvania: October 27, 2023): McKean County District Attorney Stephanie Vettenburg-Shaffer confirmed that Darian Ramdin pled guilty to Homicide by Vehicle while DUI and other charges in county court on Thursday. Ramdin had been charged after a fatal car crash on East Main Street in Bradford on July 16, 2023.
Reports indicated that Officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a vehicle Ramdin was driving. Although he initially stopped, after Officers exited their vehicle and made contact with Ramdin, Ramdin fled down East Main Street at a high rate of speed – estimated to be 85 miles per hour. The vehicle crashed – killing Wallace Easton and seriously injuring a juvenile female – both passengers in the car.
Ramdin pled guilty to Homicide by Vehicle While DUI; Aggravated Assault by Vehicle While DUI; 3 counts of DUI – alcohol, marijuana; Fleeing and Attempting to Elude Police Officer; Driving at Unsafe Speed, Reckless Driving and possession of small amount of marijuana. Ramdin will be sentenced on December 7th. He remains incarcerated at the McKean County Jail.
