Bradford Area Public Library Programs Announced
Bradford, PA—Spring is in the air and the Bradford Area Public Library is ready to celebrate the season by offering an Introduction to Garden Design workshop on Monday, April 15 at 6PM. This is a free program for all area residents that will be presented by Kari Compton, owner of Compton Florals; a locally owned business that offers seasonal flower arrangements made solely with materials grown right here in McKean County!
Compton has offered a four-week Garden Design course in the recent past but is currently able to offer a condensed version for BAPL’s adult programming. This free workshop will cover seven important steps to consider when creating an outdoor space that residents and their families will treasure. “Whether it’s a vegetable garden, a space to relax, a fun outdoor area for the kids, low-maintenance landscaping, or a beautiful flower border, I believe everyone can design a garden space they will truly enjoy and use… they just need the information and tools to do it!” states Compton.
There will be a Q & A session, so attendees are encouraged to bring their gardening questions, and Compton will do her best to assist everyone with their plant and design challenges!
Next, on the library’s programming calendar, is an Author Talk with local author Denise Seagren on Thursday, April 18 at 6:30 PM. Seagren’s book, Soldiers of the Forest: A Story of the Civilian Conservation Corps was released in November 2023. While her book is a work of historical fiction, readers will gain more knowledge about the Civilian Conservation Corps, Chief Cornplanter, and stories of hidden Civil War treasure.
Seagren’s discussion will include a PowerPoint presentation that will walk attendees through the history of the Civilian Conservation Corps, local history, as well as detail Denise’s research and corresponding documentation that she unearthed while writing her book. Come join the discussion. No registration is required for either program.
