Hazel P. Wolcott, 94, of 359 1/2 East Main Street, Bradford, PA passed away Monday, January 2, 2023, at Bradford Manor.

Born May 5, 1928, in Riterville, she was a daughter of the late Cecil and Hazel (Wagner) Pollock. She was a 1946 graduate of Bradford High School.

On July 26, 1958, in Kushequa, she married Robert F. Wolcott who preceded her in death on September 7, 1987. 

Hazel was the benefits administrator at Zippo Manufacturing for 25 years, retiring in 1993. After she retired she was a child sitter for area families including the Wilsuz, Jadlowiec, and Rodgers families.

Hazel was could be described as a force of nature with a heart of gold. She was a very sweet lady who will be missed, and a wonderful mother and grandmother. She always giving to her family, friends, and community. She was often called “Grandma Hazel” by many people.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Wimodausis and the United Women in Faith. She was a past member and Past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star Chapter #61, and a current member of the Phoenix Chapter #15, a Masonic Temple Associate, and a Girl Scout Volunteer. She also volunteered five days a week at the Friendship Table for over 10 years.

Surviving is one daughter, Cindy Ervin, of Rew, one son, Neil P. (Anita) Wolcott, of Bradford, six grandchildren, Lisa Ervin, Pam Christjohn, Mark Ervin, Sarah Rounsville, Mike Tingley, Jaime Digel, 14 great-grandchildren, Hannah Ervin, Ryder Christjohn, Kaiden Christjohn, Flynn Ervin, Layne Ervin, Kameron Rounsville, Emily Rounsville, Braidon Rounsville, Lucas Tingley, Kody Bair, Brianna Digel, Callie Digel, Dani Adams, and Tyler Adams, one great-great-granddaughter, Ellianah Buck, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bob of 29 years, one granddaughter Adina Lynn Wolcott, one great-great-granddaughter, Savanah Buck, three brothers, Harold, Dallas, and Richard, and three sisters, Viola Gulnac, Audrey Stidd, and Norma Trumbull.

Friends will be received on Thursday, January 5, 2023, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 pm in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc., 372 East Main Street and again on Friday, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the First United Methodist Church, follow by a funeral service at 11:00 am with Rev. Rick Nelson, Pastor, officiating. Burial will be in McKean Memorial Park.

Members of the Order of the Eastern Star Phoenix Chapter #15 will conduct a service at 10:45am in the church.

Memorial contributions if desired may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.

“beloved wife, mother, and Nana”

Victoria M. “Vicki” Setzer, 65, a lifelong resident of Austin, PA passed away with her loving family by her side, on Monday, January 2, 2023, in UPMC Cole, Coudersport, after a long illness.

Born on Tuesday, August 13, 1957, in Coudersport, she was a daughter of Dalevin Lamer and Keith and Betty Stuckey Purdy.  On June 30, 1973 in Coudersport, she married Ronald B. Setzer, Sr., who survives.  They had just celebrated their 49^th wedding anniversary.

Vicki was a graduate of Austin High School.  She was employed at the former Galeotti’s Restaurant in Austin and also at Emporium Specialties in Austin.  She was then employed by Pro America in Emporium as head inspector until her disability forced her to retire.

Vicki was very well known in her community.  When she became sick 30 years ago, she spent a lot of her time volunteering and also enjoyed her time visiting with the neighbors and the people of the community.  She would make her daily rounds to Paul Perry’s, Big Mikes, and the Post Office, to visit with the locals, and to harass Paul and Big Mike.  Of course, most of the locals she visited with were people who watched her grow up in this very town.

Vicki was a life member of the AVFD Dept. 44.  She would spend endless hours at the hall working Bingo, making food for the department’s firemen and for any departments there on standby.  She would be at the firehall anytime day or night if they needed anything up until she could no longer physically do it.

She was one of the original members of the Austin Pride Committee, volunteering with them for 20 plus years.  They would work endless hours every year to raise enough money to put on the annual fireworks display.

Vicki was a volunteer at the EO Austin House.  She was an Austin Borough Council member for over 20 years.  She was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post 7810 in Austin.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 49 years; three children, Ronald B. Jr. (Jeana) Setzer of Port Allegany, Rhoda R. (Terry) Hooftallen of Austin, and Heath D. (Amanda) Setzer of Austin; eleven grandchildren, Ben, Cynthia, Madison, Dawson, Sage, Shae, Sari, Skylar, and Scot Setzer, Joseph Pritt, and Maggie Earle; a great-granddaughter, Anna Grace Simms; two brothers, Anthony Lamer and Pastor Todd (Sherri) Lamer, both of Austin; a cousin, Chris (Kimberly) Stuckey, who was raised like a brother; and several nieces and nephews.

Vicki was predeceased by her parents.

Family and friends may call from 11am to 1pm on Saturday, January 7, 2023, at the Austin United Methodist Church, Turner Street, Austin, where a Celebration of Life will follow at 1pm with Pastor Todd Lamer, Vicki’s brother, officiating.

John J. Engel, 81, a resident of Elk Haven Nursing Home, formerly of 151 Sugar Hill Road, St. Marys, PA passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at Elk Haven, after a lengthy illness.

Stacy Joann Logan, age 15, of Elkland, PA passed away at home on Friday, December 30, 2022.

Born February 21, 2007, in Wellsboro, she was the daughter of Dom E. and Therese L. (Harkenrider) Logan.

Stacy was a sophomore at the Williamson High School. She carried the spirit of love, kindness and compassion everywhere she went. She was a social butterfly with a nonjudgmental soul.

She loved helping others, her animals, and being with family and friends. Stacy could light up any room with her personality and sense of humor. She loved pineapples and decorating.

Though her time with us here on earth was short, she touched so many, and she was loved beyond measure.

Stacy is survived by her parents, Dom and Therese; two brothers, Cameron Logan and Deven Harkenrider; a sister, Alexis Logan; grandparents, David and Faith Harkenrider; aunts, Rebecca Lovell and Audra Diggs; uncles, Michael Harkenrider and Gordon “Nick” Logan; great aunts/uncles, cousins and a countless number of friends.

She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Joan Garrett and an uncle, Rodney Logan.

Dennis E. Green, 61, of N. Main St., Port Allegany, PA passed away unexpectedly Sunday (Jan. 1, 2023) in UPMC Cole, Coudersport.

Born November 24, 1961, in Port Allegany, he was a son of Donald F. Green and Constance E. Miles.  

Dennis worked as a pipeline worker for Skibeck Co., Jamestown, N, before his retirement.

He enjoyed cars and going to car shows. He was also an NFL Kansas City Chiefs fan.

Surviving in addition to his father, Donald Green of Kane, is his longtime companion, Kelly Moore of Port Allegany; four sons, Thomas J. Saltsman of Bradford, Dennis E. Green Jr., of State College, Michael T. Blum of Bradford, and Isaiah J. Green of Port Allegany; two daughters, Delleny Molisani of Wellsville, NY, Desiree Kamats of Bradford; five grandchildren; two brothers, Dan Green of Allegany, NY, Donald Green of Port Allegany; and three sisters, Linda (Michael) Gordon of Port Allegany, Debbie McKee of Eldred, and Cindy (Dave) Carpenter of Port Allegany; and several nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his mother, Constance Tompkins and stepfather Willard Tompkins; and mother-in-law, Lorna Moore.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date & time to be announced.

Thomas Michael Egger, 72, of Warren, PA passed away on Tuesday December 27, 2022, in Warren General Hospital after an extended illness.

Tom was born in Warren, Pa, on June 24, 1950, the son of late Wallace M. Egger and Anna Mae Niles. He was a graduate of Warren High School and was a veteran of the US Navy. He was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and served as ministerial servant at the local Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Pleasant Township. Tom worked as a laborer for the former Interlectric, in Warren.

Tom loved Art, oil painting, wood carving, traveling, was an excellent family man, and his favorite pastime was that he was a student of the Bible. On Dec 20, 1991, he married Laurie S. Wilcox, in Warren and they spent the next 31 loving years together.

Tom was a wonderful, loving, and caring son, father, grandfather, and friend to those closest to him. He always looked for the good in everyone and was always a hearing ear to anyone who needed someone to just listen. He always knew just what to say to help you! He will be truly missed by all his friends and family.

In addition to his wife Laurie, he is survived by two sons Derrick P. Egger and wife Patricia of Meeker Colorado, and Aaron M. Egger and wife Nicole Elizabeth Egger of Jamestown NY; Tom’s grandchildren, Roberta L. Egger, Jacob D. Egger, Caidence Nicole Anderson, Chase Alexander Ashker, and Gavin Mitchell Egger; stepmother Elaine Egger; brother David Egger and wife Roxy of TX; half-sisters Kelly Wolfe and Amy Blouser of Warren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, and grandparents.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM on Saturday January 7th in the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 201 Pleasant Dr., Warren PA 16365.

Alberta Jean “Bert” Kleisath, 80, a longtime resident of Gifford Hollow, Smethport, PA passed away Sunday (January 1, 2023) at Olean General Hospital, Olean, NY.

She was born January 29, 1942 in Port Allegany, the daughter of Leroy and Esther Lilly Huey. On October 23, 1965, in Eldred, PA, she married Raymond E. Kleisath, who survives.

Bert, as she was known by everyone, was a proud graduate of Smethport High School.  She worked for the former Jaguar Manufacturing in Smethport and owned and operated “The Flower Basket” floral shop in Smethport until her retirement in 1995.

Anyone who knew Bert knew she loved her family whole-heartedly. She was an active participant in each and every one of their lives, all the way down to her great grandchildren.  Her favorite phrase known by family and friends was, “This Too Shall Pass”.

She was a Charter Member of the Smethport Fire Department and a member of the VFW Post #2497 Women’s Auxiliary.  She enjoyed gardening and was a phenomenal and dedicated Bingo player.  Snow, sleet or rain would never have kept her away from playing.  She enjoyed seeing and “catching up” with her friends and winning against them while playing.

In addition to her husband, Raymond, she is survived by:

Grandchildren:  Shannon Lynn Keesler, Stephanie Noel Scrivo, Lynn Ann Spittler, Marcus Ray-Lee Spittler, Skylar Raye Alepa, Peyton Ann Alepa and Landon Jonathan Alepa

Great Grandchildren:  Kailei J. Mason, Patrick Kelley, Adrianna Keesler and Raelynn Scrivo

Along with several nieces and nephews she dearly loved.

In addition to her parents, Bert was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Christal Lynn Keesler; three sisters, Evelyn Cunningham, Joyce Rose and Joan Hosmer.

In keeping with Bert’s wishes, there will be no visitation or services.  A Celebration of Life will be held for immediate friends and family on Saturday, January 7, from 2-4 PM at the VFW Post #2497 of Smethport.  Burial will be in St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Smethport.

Clifford J. Murray, Jr., 99, of Gaines, PA passed away on December 25, 2022 at the Laurels, Wellsboro. 

Cliff was born August 21, 1923 in Buffalo, NY, the son of the late Clifford J. and Mary Louise (Thomas) Murray.  He was the husband of the late Josephine (McGlade) Murray.

Cliff was self employed as a commercial printer for 45 years.  He was a Navy Lieutenant serving during WWII in the Pacific Theatre and attended the First Baptist Church, Galeton. 

Cliff was a sports car enthusiast, avid Sports Car Club of America rallyist and rallied for Ford Motor Company, and Captain of the Ford Rally Team.  He was also a member of the Porsche Club of America and the National Champion Sports Car Rallyist when they introduced the Mustang. 

He was a world traveler, enjoyed upland game hunting, especially with bird dogs, and fly fishing.  He loved the Pine Creek and lived at Grubb Hole for 37 years. Cliff also enjoyed golfing and was a member of the Boy Scouts of America, representing the United States in Europe in 1937.

Cliff is survived by a son, Clifford (Jeannie) Murray III of Chester Springs; a daughter Susan Girdis of Leesburg, FL; grandchildren, Allison Thomas and Susan Thais; and three great grandchildren, Lucas Thais, Aubrey Thais, and Kiley Thomas.  In addition to his parents and wife, Cliff was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Jack Girdis.

A memorial service for Cliff will be held 11:00am Monday January 16, 2023 at the Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home and a private burial will be held in St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Chester Springs.

Helen M. Mahoney, 95, of Elk Haven Nursing Home, St. Marys and formerly of Marienstadt Place, St. Marys and High Street, Johnsonburg died late Saturday night, December 31, 2022 at Elk Haven following a brief illness.

Her family feels now that they are sure she is in heaven. She was born on March 26, 1927 in St. Marys a daughter to the late Leo and Mary Bauer Feldbauer. When both her parents passed away when she was 7, she was raised in the home of the late Joseph and Mary Feldbauer Uhl whom she considered second parents.

Growing up in St.Marys, she attended St. Marys Catholic Schools. On July 24, 1948 in St. Mary’s Church in Pittsburgh, she married Robert A. Mahoney. He preceded her in death on December 25, 1996.

Helen was a member of Holy Rosary Church, the Johnsonburg Senior Center, Central Hose and the St. Marys Senior Center. She loved being a homemaker, taking care of her family and friends, especially on their birthdays when she would have parties and bake for them. She felt that later in life she was born again into her Christian Faith. She loved flowers, playing cards and bingo and getting home in time to watch her detective shows. She desperately missed her beloved dogs Casey and Amos. 

Helen is survived by sons Robert A. Mahoney, Jr. and his wife Virginia “Ginny” of Johnsonburg, Thomas P. Mahoney and his wife Ellen of Penfield and Kenneth A. Mahoney and his wife Arlene of St. Marys. She is also survived by her grandchildren Carie Simbeck and fiancé Brad Hauber, Trisha Mahoney, Suzi Mahoney and fiancé Shannon Leach and Mandy, Mrs. Ryan Murphy and great-grandchildren Alyssa Simbeck and fiancé Alex Herzing and Braeden and Brooks Murphy. 

In addition to her parents, step-parents and husband, Helen is predeceased by a grandson Robbie Mahoney, a brother Roger Feldbauer and sisters Rita Nightway, Agnes Peters, Alice Young, Rose Rippy and step-brothers Norbert and George Uhl.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Helen M. Mahoney will be conducted at Holy Rosary Church, Johnsonburg on Thursday January 5, 2023 at 10:30 AM with Fr. David Wilson as celebrant. Interment will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery, Johnsonburg.

Friends will be received at the Anthony F Ferragine Funeral Home and Cremation Services Chapel, 401 Chestnut Street Johnsonburg, PA on Thursday morning from 9 to 10:15 AM.
