Raymond J. Scalise, born August 27, 1934, in Warren, PA, passed peacefully on July 28, 2024, from complications from Alzheimer’s
Ray is survived by his wife, Pamela: daughter Becky (Jim) Ulmer of Tampa, FL: daughter Laurie (Bill) Gable of Stockbridge, GA: daughter Sally (Jerry) Lucia of Westfield, NC : brother Fred (Margie) Scalise of Warren, PA; sister Jean (Frank) Temple of Youngsville, PA; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews: 4 stepchildren; and 2 step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dominic and Sara Scalise.
Memorial services will be held at the Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home Inc., 304 East St. Warren, PA 16365, on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at 10:00 am with Fr. Richard Tomasone, pastor of St. Joseph R.C. Church, officiating.

Bruce Edward West, 63, of Route 321 in East Kane
Bruce Edward West, 63, of Route 321 in East Kane, passed away Monday (September 2, 2024) at his home. Born August 25, 1961, in Bradford, he is a son of Virginia J. (Warner) West of Kane and the late Dale West. On April 20, 1991, at St. Bernard’s in Bradford, he married Marianne (Przestrzelski) West who survives.
He was a 1979 graduate of Bradford High School and received his BS in Geology at the University of Pittsburgh- Bradford. He was a member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists.

Causer Recognizes a Job Well Done
Long-time Cameron County-based Notary Public Diane Bolin, who retired after 36 years of distinguished service, was honored this week as state Rep. Martin Causer (R-Cameron/McKean/Potter) presented her with a citation from the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. Causer noted the important role notaries play in ensuring the accuracy and legitimacy of countless government-related documents by serving as an impartial witness, and he commended Bolin for always going above and beyond to provide these vital services to the community.

The Musical Memories Café is a joyful and compassionate hour of shared musical experience designed to enrich the lives of caregivers and their loved ones with Alzheimer’s, dementia, or other physical challenges, as well as isolated adults.

Johnsonburg, Pa.: Jim Miller of St Marys brought in the lone coyote on the last day of Rolfe Beagle Club’s Statewide, 10-Day, Coyote and Crow Hunt. And it was a well-deserved coyote. This was Jim’s first time entering the Rolfe Hunt and his first coyote harvested during the hunt timeframe. “I started hunting predators just recently and I shot a coyote a couple of weeks ago, so I was excited to see if I could harvest another one during the hunt timeframe.

Penn College Spotlight on Men’s Golf
After back-to-back United East championships and trips to the NCAA Division III Championships the last two springs, Pennsylvania College of Technology men’s golf coach Rob Lytle knows the importance of fall-season preparation.
“This is the most aggressive fall tournament schedule Penn College has ever seen. The only thing it’s going to do is make us better. I want our guys out there playing against the best of the best. That’s the only way we’re going to get better,” the third-year coach said. “The fall season will help us set the stage for the spring and another run at the conference championship.”
Northern Pennsylvania Regional College and University of Pittsburgh at Bradford Sign Academic Agreement
BRADFORD – Northern Pennsylvania Regional College (NPRC) and the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford (Pitt-Bradford) signed a guaranteed transfer agreement to enable NPRC students in three associate degree programs to transfer into bachelor’s programs at Pitt-Bradford.
The signing took place in an official ceremony held on the campus of Pitt-Bradford on Wednesday, September 4.

Wellsboro, Pa., – All individuals whose loved ones were under the care of UPMC Home Healthcare of Central Pennsylvania and Family Hospice of Central Pa. within the past year are welcome to attend a memorial service in their honor on Thursday, Sept. 12, 6 p.m., at Tioga County Fairgrounds, 2258 Charleston Rd., Wellsboro.

The Canyon Pilots Association Labor Day Weekend All-You-Can-Eat Fly-In Breakfast was on Sunday, Sept. 1 from 8 a.m. to noon at the corporate hangar at the Grand Canyon Regional Airport in Delmar Township at 112 Runway Road, near Wellsboro.
“After the fog lifted, sometime between 9 a.m. and 9:30 a.m., it was a great day for flying. People went on airplane rides over the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon for a fee or entered a raffle for a chance to ride in a helicopter,” said Joe Burnside, Canyon Pilots Association treasurer.
Shapiro Administration Announces Reopening of Route 14 in Trout Run, Lycoming County
Lewis Township, PA – At an event today, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), along with local officials and industry partners, announced that Route 14 is open to traffic in Trout Run, Lewis Township, Lycoming County. Motorists will use a temporary roadway that connects to Lycoming Creek Road (Route 1017), bypassing the damaged bridge, until the bridge is replaced.
Route 14 has been closed between Route 15 and Trout Run Mountain Road (Route 1002) since August 9 after severe flooding caused extensive flood damage to the bridge over Trout Run.
