Experience the wonder of the night sky through a laser-guided tour conducted by park staff. If conditions allow, we’ll take a look through telescopes at some of the key features of the late spring sky. Hear legends and myths surrounding several constellations. Telescopes available from roughly 10 PM and later. Telescope availability is subject to staff/volunteer availability, weather conditions, and crowd size limitations.

Richard M. Hannon, 74, a resident of Congress Street in Bradford, PA passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at Bradford Regional Medical Center.
Born in Bradford on December 11, 1949, he was the son of the late John R. and Mary (Taylor) Hannon.
A 1967 graduate of Bradford Area High School, Rich worked at Dresser Pipeline Solutions in Bradford, starting in 1968 and retiring in 2012.
An enthusiastic fan of the Buffalo Bills and an avid golfer at Pine Acres Country Club, Rich was also a passionate lifelong music lover. The Beatles and Bob Dylan were among his favorites, but he enjoyed attending concerts of all kinds and sharing his extensive collection of rare albums with friends and family. He was also fond of classic movies and cherished the companionship of many dogs throughout his life.
Donald Dean Steck, 85, formerly of Timbuck, a resident of Simpsonville SC, passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2024.
Born March 8, 1939, in Degolia, he was the 13th child of the late Leonard and Louise (O’Neil) Steck. He was a graduate of St. Bernard School.
On July 22, 1967, in Our Mother of Perpetual Help Church, he married Patricia Ann (Cardenas) Steck who preceded him in death on December 29, 2021.
A native and life-long resident of Bradford, Dean worked for over 30 years at the Kendall/Witco Oil Refinery. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.
Dean loved participating in and watching all sports, but especially rooting for the Buffalo Bills. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing with friends.
Aaron G. Nicklas, 40, of 164 E. Oil Well Street, St. Marys, PA passed away with his wife by his side, Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at Penn Highlands DuBois, following a 22-month battle with cholangiocarcinoma.
He was born January 26, 1984, in DuBois, the son of John and Charlotte Gorlowski Nicklas. He was a lifelong resident of the area and a graduate of St. Marys Area High School, Class of 2002. He attended Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania, as well as the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. He was employed by the Elk County Prison for many years. He was appointed Deputy Warden of the Prison in April 2022.
Peter Winklbauer, 74, of 618 Virginia Road, St. Marys, PA passed away unexpectedly Monday, June 10, 2024 at his residence.
He was born May 22, 1950, in Altoona, PA, son of the late John P. and Joan Healy Winklbauer. Pete was a graduate of Bishop Guilfoyle High School, Class of 1969 and continued his education at Mercyhurst College, graduating in 1973. Upon graduation with a BFA, he accepted a teaching position at Elk County Christian High School, where he remained until his retirement.
On June 14, 1975 in the Sacred Heart Church, Pete married the love of his life, the late Karen M. Ryan, who preceded him in death on April 6, 2021, to whom he was married for forty-nine years.
Pete is survived by two sisters: Lee Ann Burkhart (Thomas) of Shavertown, PA and Lisa Hummel (Anthony) of Dover, DE; a brother, David Winklbauer (Patricia) of Evans, CO; sister-in-law, Cindy Ryan Burke of Archbald, PA; brother-in-law, Daniel Ryan (Meg) of Newbern, NC; several nieces and nephews, whom he loved dearly; and countless friends.
