Audrey Margaret “Peggy” Loud Chilson, 91, Wellsboro, PA
Audrey Margaret “Peggy” Loud Chilson, 91, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 15, 2024 at Broad Acres Nursing Home in Wellsboro, Pennsylvania.
Audrey was born June 3, 1933 in Middlebush, New Jersey to Karl and Anne (Beggs) Loud.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her ex-husband, Wynn Chilson; son, Jeffrey Chilson; siblings: Muriel, Doris, Daniel, Mary Ellen, Maureen, Alice, C. Everett, Carl Junior, and Warren Loud.
Audrey was the proud mother to Jeffrey (deceased) (Sandra) Chilson of Middlebury Center, PA; Brian Scott (Deborah) Chilson of Nelson, PA; Kevin (Karen) Chilson of Lawrenceville, PA; and Peggy Kay Chilson of Merriam, Kansas. The grandmother to Annette Chilson Knapp, Elizabeth Chilson Arnold, Erica Chilson, Max Chilson, Dustin Chilson, Kyle Chilson, Wynn Chilson, and Asa Martin. She was blessed with six great-grandchildren: Cory, Grace, Cody, Mackenzie, Jasmine, and Emma. Audrey had many siblings: Muriel “Snooky”, Doris “Punchie”, Daniel “Sonny”, Maureen, Mary Ellen, Alice, C. Everett “Larry”, Carl “Junior”, Lorraine, Shirley “Mitzie”, Warren Leslie, and Kathleen “Kitty”.
As a first-generation Scots-Irish American, Audrey was proud of her mother’s heritage, whose name was engraved on the Immigrant Wall of Honor at Ellis Island. Audrey retired from the Voter Registrar’s office, Tioga County Courthouse in Wellsboro, PA.
For many years, Audrey was the local tax collector for Nelson Township, as well as the Nelson Township Judge of Elections. Audrey was honored as a 50-year member of the Elkland Chapter No.135, Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed socializing at Club 63 in Elkland, PA. Audrey often joined her siblings and their families at camp in Lamoka Lake, New York. She always looked forward to attending the annual Loud Reunion and Chilson Christmas Eve party. Audrey also enjoyed tending to her floral garden, as well as taking pictures of family and the wildlife in her scenic yard overlooking the Cowanesque Lake.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, June 24th at 11:00 AM in Nelson Cemetery. Arrangements are in care of Kenyon Funeral Home, Elkland. www.kenyonfuneralhome.com
