Alberta M. “Tootie” Crocco, 99, formerly of Mertz Avenue, St. Marys, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at Elk Haven Nursing Home.
She was born on April 23, 1925, in St. Marys,, a daughter of the late Edward and Carrie Friedl Wittman.
On October 19, 1946, in St. Marys Church, she married the late Biagio “Bill” Crocco, who preceded her in death on December 8, 1996. Together they shared nearly 50 years of marriage.
Tootie was a graduate of St. Marys Area High School, class of 1943 and retired from Stackpole Carbon Company after more than 38 years of service. She enjoyed spending her time bumming around, going to bingo and playing cards with her friends. Most of all, she cherished spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by three children; Judy (Ron) Vislay of Rochester, NY, Joyce (Mark) Mosier of Kersey, and Janet Crocco, of St. Marys, by seven grandchildren; Jennifer Vislay, Jason Vislay, Julie (Brian) Peebles, Stacy (Andrew) Riel, Shawn (Amanda Ott) Mosier, Shane (Ashlynn) Mosier, and Scott (Andie) Rodich and by nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister; Phyllis (Quentin) Smith, of St. Marys, and by numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 3 brothers; Edwin Wittman, Floyd Wittman, and Vern Wittman; two sisters, Helen Emmert and Arlene Uhernick; and by two sisters in infancy; Alice Wittman and Mary Wittman.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Alberta M. “Tootie” Crocco will be celebrated on Monday, September 23, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the St. Marys Church, 315 Church Street, St. Marys, PA 15857 with Fr. Ignatius Camello, OSB, as Celebrant.
Burial will follow in the St. Marys Catholic Cemetery.
There will be no public visitation.
