Goodyear Hose Co. Celebrates Fire Prevention Week
Goodyear Hose Company celebrated Fire Prevention Week at their fire station located at 87 Sherman Street in Galeton on Sunday, Oct.15 along with member Sawyer Douglass. Douglass, a member of Goodyear Hose Co. and Wellsboro Troop 24, decided to have this as his Eagle Scout Project.
Families came to view the firehouse, fire equipment along with demonstrations by the fire personnel throughout the afternoon along with games, food, and refreshments.
Smoke detectors and goodie bags were given to all children while supplies last. Also, CO2 detectors were given to families while supplies lasted. Families could also enter their names for several door prizes.
The Eagle Scout designation is the highest in the scouting program. There are numerous badges that need to be acquired before becoming an Eagle Scout. Sawyer had to go through many steps to ensure this project was successful but not limited to submitting an application for approval of the event, fundraising to cover the costs of the project, preparing a project plan along with a budget, and after the project is completed, a project analysis is to be done. The final step is to go before the board of review for approval to officially become an Eagle Scout.
