The Wilds Are Calling Hazy IPA hits shelves and participating breweries
The Wilds Are Calling Hazy IPA, produced by New Trail Brewing Company in collaboration with 17 other brewers who call the Pennsylvania Wilds home, is now available at participating breweries and select distributors in PA!
Get the brew at the following locations: Bald Birds Brewing Co. of Jersey Shore, Bent Run Brewing Co. of Warren, Boom City Brewing Co. of Williamsport, Boxcar Brew Works of DuBois, Bradford Brew Station of Bradford, Bullfrog Brewery of Williamsport, Clarion River Brewing Company of Clarion, Floating Feathers Brewing Co. of Mill Hall, John Ryan Brewery of Williamsport, Lost In The Wilds Brewing of Shippenville, Mechanistic Brewing Co. of Clarion, Riepstine’s Pub & Brewery of Williamsport, Robinhood Brewing Co. of Bellefonte, Rosko’s Brew House of Williamsport, Therapy Brewing of Montoursville, Wicked Warren’s of Warren, and Yorkholo Brewing Co. of Mansfield.
The brew is a hazy IPA, made with a malt bill of pilsner and oats. It’s hopped late with Citra, Simcoe and HBC 586. This gives the brew aromatics of juicy citrus and light tropicals.
A portion of sales will support the PA Wilds Center for Entrepreneurship’s mission to marry conservation and economic development in a way that strengthens and inspires the region’s communities.
The new brew was unveiled during a special celebration on May 18 at New Trail Brewing Company in Williamsport, in the I-80 Frontier landscape of the PA Wilds.
Jason Fink, Williamsport/Lycoming Chamber of Commerce President, served as event emcee and welcomed special guests and speakers. Don Rieck, New Trail Brewing Company’s Marketing Director, shared details about the brew and the importance of water quality to craft beer production.
John Roskowski from John Ryan Brewery spoke about the importance of collaboration between business owners in rural PA, and Jared and Mallory Griebel from Lost in the Wilds Brewery spoke about how the region’s natural assets inspire them.
Ta Enos, Founder and CEO the PA Wilds Center for Entrepreneurship, spoke about the connections between breweries and outdoor recreation and how both the natural assets and the craft breweries are destinations for people looking for unique experiences. Enos thanked New Trail for their commitment to conservation of natural resources and their support of the PA Wilds Center’s mission through this collaboratively branded brew.
Meredith Hill, Acting Deputy Secretary of Conservation & Technical Service at the PA Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, spoke about the brew’s ties to the PA Wilds Conservation Landscape and the way its theme celebrates the region’s natural wonders. She noted that it is one of several brews produced by New Trail to uplift the assets of Pennsylvania, including a series made in partnership with the Pennsylvania Parks and Forests Foundation that supports public lands.
Representatives from the offices of Congressman Glenn “GT” Thompson and Congressman Dan Meuser attended, alongside Vince Pulizzi and Eric Beiter, members of the Williamsport City Council.
Many of the brewers also came together on April 18 to celebrate the kickoff of the Hazy IPA’s production.
“Special thanks to New Trail Brewing for initiating this collaboration, helping to connect people to nature and supporting stewardship efforts across PA,” said Hannah Brock, who serves as the PA Wilds Licensing Manager at the PA Wilds Center.
Did you know? 70 percent of Pennsylvania’s headwaters begin in the PA Wilds, flowing through one of the world’s most valuable hardwood forests. This natural filtering process makes for some of the best water imaginable, utilized by the 22 independent breweries currently in operation.
