Rixford— Andrew J. Schenfield, 47, of Clark St., passed away at home on Saturday (March 8th, 2025).
Born December 30th, 1977 in Bradford he was a son of David M. and Jeanne Gage Schenfield Sr. On August 21st, 2004 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Sartwell he married Tammy Hepfer, who survives.
Andrew was a 1996 graduate of Otto-Eldred High School. He then joined the US Army where he served for 20 years as a combat engineer in the US Army Corps of Engineer before retiring as a Sargent First Class. He was a veteran, having served in several overseas deployments including Operation Iraqi Freedom and had been based in Fort Belvoir, VA; Germany; Ft. Hood, Texas; and Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. He had received a Bronze Star.
After his military service he became an RN and was employed by The Bradford Hospital in the Emergency Room and PSA Health Care and Home Care. His final employment was at Sol Epoxy in Olean.
Mr. Schenfield was a member of the American Legion Post #887 of Eldred and VFW Post 4092 of Eldred. When in the military Andrew taught demolitions disposal. He loved to coach Little Nippers and O-E Terrors football and baseball. He enjoyed studying history and Loved his two dogs, Lacy and Crawl.
Surviving in addition to his wife of twenty years are two sons, Andrew J. Schenfield Jr. and Ryan J. Schenfield, both at home; as well as two brothers, Jeffrey N. Backer of Willoughby Hills, Ohio and David M. (Paula) Schenfield Jr. of Duke Center; his mother and father in law, Nancy J. and Steven P. Hepfer of Duke Center; a brother in law, Steven P. (Amber) Hepfer of Lawrenceville, Pa; and several nieces and nephews, David M. Schenfield III and Mason P. Schenfield, both at home, as well as Lillianna, Paige R., and Steven J. Hepfer, all at home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, David M. Schenfield Sr. on June 5th, 1978 and his mother, Jeanne Gage Schenfield Backer; as well as a sister Rachel L. Schenfield in 1974.
Friends may call on Saturday (March 15th, 2025) at the First Church of God, Eldred from 9:00 am to 11:00 am, at which time funeral services will be held with the Rev. Jim Kazimer, pastor, officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in McKean Memorial Park, Lafayette, Pa.
