Deer Hunter Shares Unique Story about His Deer Harvest on the Kinzua Quality Deer Cooperative, McKean County
Deer hunters appear to be having good success within the Kinzua Quality Deer Cooperative (KQDC) this year with the good weather; snow is even predicted later this week. But a Bradford man is having even better luck. A couple of years back, Jason Tingley of Bradford won a deer rifle from the raffle that all hunters get to enter by registering a deer at the KQDC Check Stations. Jason picked out a caliber of his choice at Tall Tales Sports in Russell.
This year on the first Saturday, Jason harvested a buck out of Otto Township, McKean County using the rifle he won in the raffle. Jason’s 7-point buck weighed in at 120# dressed and was 2 and ½ years old. Jason’s buck was registered at the Willows Check Station near the Willows Restaurant on SR 346 west of Bradford. Well done, Jason.
The KQDC is operating TWO DEER CHECK STATIONS this year on SR 59 and SR 346. The next days of operation will be Monday, 11/27, and Saturday, December 2. Hours of operation will be 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.
All deer will be weighed, measured, and aged for FREE for hunters. Hunters will receive a fluorescent orange KQDC hat for bringing their deer to the check station. Each hunter bringing in a deer for checking will also receive a ticket on a cash raffle. Hunters bringing in antlerless deer will be eligible for a $500 raffle. Hunters bringing in an antlered deer will be eligible for a $250 raffle.
