Clearfield, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that work to trim and remove trees along Route 4003 in Jones and Ridgway townships, Elk County, began earlier this week. This work will enhance driver safety and extend the life of the roadway surface.
PennDOT expects the work to take one to two months, but all work is weather-dependent. The contractor will complete the work during daylight hours. Drivers may encounter short delays as roadway flaggers enforce an alternating traffic pattern during these operations. Drivers should remain alert for flaggers and slow-moving or stopped traffic.

National Weather Service State College PA 853 PM EST Wed Jan 3 2024 …AREAS OF FREEZING DRIZZLE POSSIBLE THROUGH 2 AM THURSDAY…
A cold front that was crossing Lake Erie and Eastern Ohio this Wednesday evening was helping to produce clouds containing small, super-cooled water droplets.
As these droplets fall and come in contact with the cold ground, where temperatures were in the upper 20s to low 30s, they will freeze and could create a hazardous, thin layer of black ice on from freezing drizzle.
Thicker and colder clouds spreading in behind the cold front will cause a changeover to flurries and snow showers around or shortly after midnight across the Northwest Mountains of the state. Up to one inch of snow accumulation is possible by daybreak Thursday.
Motorists should exercise caution and be prepared for potentially slick travel on untreated roads, bridges, and overpasses, especially across the ridge tops where sub-freezing surface temperatures will be most likely. Lambert
