Edward C. Palmer, 90, of 170 Toby Road, Kersey, passed away peacefully Saturday, November 9, 2024 at Penn Highlands DuBois.
He was born March 26, 1934, in Dagus Mines, son of the late Carl H. and Dorothy Green Palmer. He was a graduate of Kersey High School and employed by Stackpole Carbon Company.
On April 19, 1954, in Cumberland, MD, Ed married his high school sweetheart, the late Clara E. Lance, who preceded him in death on September 25, 2022. They raised a large and loving family with whom both loved to spend time. Both were active members of the United Methodist Church of Kersey.

Robert H. Carroll “B.O.B.”, 95, of Smethport, passed away on Sunday, September 29, 2024, at Olean General Hospital.
He was born on October 27, 1928, in Mapleton Depot, he was a son of the late James H. Carroll and Vera Flo (Corbin) Carroll.
He was a 1946 graduate of Jeannette High School, received a Bachelor of Science from Indiana State Teachers College in Indiana, and earned a Master of Arts at West Virginia University in Morgantown, WV.
On June 22, 1956, he married Shirley Woodle, who passed away on June 8, 1999.
Frank E. Yungwirth, 79, of Covington, PA.
Frank E. Yungwirth, 79, of Covington, passed away Saturday, November 9, 2024, at UPMC Williamsport. He was born October 4, 1945, in Blossburg, to Matthew and Catherine (Kroll) Yungwirth. He graduated from high school, and joined the Army where he flew helicopters in Viet Nam and was decorated for his service. He earned an officer’s commission and reached the rank of captain. After leaving the military Frank worked at Maple Hill Tree Farm on his old homestead while he attended Mansfield University and earned his bachelor’s degree. He then taught history and government at Wellsboro High School. After retirement Frank served Covington Township as a Township Supervisor. He attended St. Peter’s Catholic Church, and was deeply involved in veterans’ organizations VFW, DAV, and the American Legion, serving as commander and participating in veterans’ events.

Ronald Gary PRESTON, 65, of Belmont, NY, passed away peacefully Saturday, November 9, 2024 in his daughter’s home surrounded by family.
Born July 2, 1959, in Cuba, he was the son of LeClair Archie and Myrtle Louise Bisnett Preston. A graduate of Belfast Central School, he was first employed by his family gas station, Quaker State in Caneadea. He then went on to Preston Truck Sales, Eastside Garage, and Preston Auto in Wellsville. Later, he owned his own business, Twin Tier Auto Transfer in Belmont, and most recently was employed as transportation supervisor for Alfred-Almond School. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Ron enjoyed camping, fishing, reading, and was a NASCAR enthusiast.

Job Announcement: Outreach and Communications Advisor
The Potter County Conservation District is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Outreach and Communications Advisor. The position will be full-time (37.5 hours/week) with a probationary period of six months. The purpose of this position is to oversee the general planning, development, and direction of all communications of the District. Coordinate programs, social media, news releases, and other forms or publication to build and sustain a positive image of the District in the public. The qualified applicant must have a high school diploma or equivalent, be able to obtain required clearances, and a valid driver’s license. Candidates are preferred to have a degree in an Environmental Field (Biology, Environmental Science, Ecology, etc.), Communications, Public Relations, or another related field. The position involves extensive contact, both by phone and in person, with a variety of District customers and partners. The person in this position must have excellent communication skills, a pleasant disposition, be courteous, and detail oriented. Tasks will be assigned and supervised by the District Manager per program needs.
The salary will be commensurate with experience. Qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religious creed, age, sex, ancestry or

Roulette Twp. Water Restrictions
ATTENTION WATER CUSTOMERS: this weekend our well level fell to 25 feet and put us in mandatory water restrictions. The rain we had yesterday will not be enough to put us above that mark for very long, if at all. Thankfully we are in the colder months but the mandatory restrictions are for no excess water used for anything other than daily household use. We will notify you when it is lifted. Veterans Day Celebration at Port Allegany Elementary School
The annual Port Allegany Elementary School Veterans Day Celebration was held Monday morning at the school. The two part ceremony began outside in the parking lot of the school. Elementary Principal Greg Oliver welcomed the Veterans and Student Body. Participating with Mr. Oliver in the outdoor ceremony were Pastor and Veteran J.T. Madison, Boy Scouts under the direction of Boy Scout Leader Nick Valentine, Veteran Marcus Borowsky and the Port Allegany Honor Guard. Speaker for the outdoor part of the ceremony was Vince Berrettini. The indoor ceremony began with the introduction of over 60 Veterans including speaker Lieutenant Colonel Joseph G. Keary. The Elementary Ensembly sang the Star Spangled Banner under the direction of Jen Guncheon. After a video presentation, the student body sang America the Beautiful. Veterans and the students who invited them to the Veterans Day Celebration visited and had photos taken before the Veterans were invited to the Gator Den for refreshments.
Embankment Stabilization Project Continues on Route 44 in Lycoming County
Motorists are advised that a two-year embankment stabilization project continues on Route 44 between Route 973 and Waterville in Cummings Township and between Route 220 and Torbert Lane in Watson Township, Lycoming County.
The week of Tuesday, November 12, 2024, the contractor, Glenn O. Hawbaker, will begin removing the traffic signals and temporary barrier between village of Ramsey and 0.5 mile north of the Pine Creek Inn in Cummings Township.

Robert J. Turner, 87, of Warren, Pa, died on Friday November 8, 2024, at UPMC Hamot Hospital, Erie, PA, after an extended illness.
He was born on December 8, 1936, in Clarksville, Pa, the son of the late Gerald J. and Hildred Dorothy Scott Turner. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Shirley Largent and Garaldine Adamson. Bob was a Warren area resident from 1973 to 2001, moving to Erie, Pa, and back to Warren in 2013.

Week two of PAHS Seniors visiting Rotary took place November 7 at the Port Allegany Moose Lodge. Azriel Luk is the son of Stephanie and Randy Taylor and the grandson of Barb Bockoras. He is a member of the Class of 2025 at PAHS and attends the Seneca Highlands Career and Technical Center.

Rotarian Joe Lashway presented Sarah Lonzi with a check for the United Way of Bradford (McKean County). The presentation was made following the regular weekly meeting of the club. Lonzi was the guest speaker for the day. She is the Director of the United Way.

David G. Anderson, 75, of 6624 Ridgway-Johnsonburg Road, Johnsonburg, passed away suddenly on Saturday, November 8, 2024.
He was born to the late J. Richard and Germaine Rippon Anderson on August 26, 1949 in Philadelphia, PA. David resided in the Wilcox and Johnsonburg area for the past forty-plus years. He attended Holy Rosary Grade School, Elk County Christian High School, and Penn State University, where he majored in Materials Engineering.

James Andrew Johnson of Ridgway Pennsylvania passed away peacefully in his home on Friday, November 8th, 2024.
James was born on October 3, 1940 to late Andrew and Bernice Pollick. He was later adopted by George and Isabel Johnson. James attended Ridgway high school and later went on to serve in the United States Marine Corps. James served as a Marine from 1959-1963. Later that year, he went on and married Sandra Gier of Ridgway on November 16, 1963. James had three children Kevin, Kimberly, and Crieg.
