Potter County Farmers Market October 11th
The Potter County Farmers Market will be outdoors on the square across from the county jail, every Friday (weather permitting) from 12:30 pm to 4:30 pm. The next market will be this Friday, October 11th. Below is a list of who plans to be there and what they plan on bringing to the Market:
* The outdoor market is held each Friday from May through October (weather permitting; on very rainy days, we will relocate into the Riley Gallery (if available)). In November, the farmers market goes indoors for the winter market.
* Market times have been established after many trial times over the years. If you are not able to visit us and would like something particular from one of the vendors, please contact them directly. They are willing to try to accommodate your request.

This year’s Fall Antique Show & Sawmill Run will be held on Saturday October 12th and Sunday October 13th. Northern Pennsylvania typically reaches peak fall foliage conditions around this time so the forests surrounding the museum will (hopefully) be decked in rich and beautiful colors.
The Antique Show features multiple antique vendors that will be selling their wares in the museum program room. Our vendors have a little bit of everything, including antique tools, vintage clothing, collectible coins, glassware, books, and furniture. Vendors open 9am-5pm Saturday and 9am-3pm Sunday.
Food and beverages will be available for purchase. There is no ATM on site so plan your visit accordingly.
Outside, the museum grounds will come alive with historic trade demonstrations. Saturday 10/12 of our steam-powered circular sawmill will be running from 10 AM to 3 PM. Other demonstrations will be happening over both days of the event at the birch still, lumber camp kitchen, and the Eastern Loggers model railroad display.
Author Joyce Kieffer will give presentations during the weekend on her historic fiction trilogy “The Trees Remember.” Drawing on the author’s career in women’s health and inspired by the forests she calls home in Juniata County; the series follows a young woman as she trains to become a nurse set against the backdrop of Pennsylvania’s booming lumber industry in the late 1800s. Besides scheduled talks at 11 AM & 2 PM on Saturday and 10:30 AM Sunday, Joyce will be on hand to chat with visitors about her books and what motivated the 84-year-old to become a novelist.

Cherry Springs October Events
Saw-whet Owl Banding
Northern saw-whet owls are beginning their migration to southern locales and some will be stopping in our area for a well-earned break! Join park staff and volunteers as we hope to capture and band saw-whet owls at Cherry Springs State Park on Saturday, October 19th at 5:30 PM in the CCC pavilion on the Overnight Astronomy Observation Field. After dark, participants will receive a night sky tour as our volunteers check the net traps for birds. Please bring your own chairs and dress warm with layers. Winter Sowing Native Plants
Do you have an interest in planting a native garden at your house or camp? Join park educators and local Master Gardeners at Cherry Springs State Park as we prepare our native seeds for garden improvements in the spring! Visitors will have the opportunity to sow seeds in milk jugs brought from home and the resulting seedlings will be ready to transplant to gardens by the end of spring. Soil medium and a selection of seeds will be provided for visitors to use, but participants must bring their own milk jugs/containers. The park also requests donations of spare milk jugs or plastic containers for garden improvements in the complex. This event will be in the CCC pavilion on the Overnight Astronomy Field on Saturday, October 20 @ 2 PM. Dress with layers! This program is free to attend! Register at bit.ly/milkjugnatives.
Drug Possession Arrest In Olean
Patrol Officers conducted a traffic stop yesterday at approximately 5:00 p.m. on W. State St. and arrested 34 year old Audra Divittorio of 319 N. 10th St. . Divittorio was charged with Criminal possession and Criminal sale of a controlled substance 3rd. degree ( B Felonies ) and also at the time of her arrest Divittorio was in possession of an 1/8 Ounce of Fentanyl, Crack cocaine, drug packaging and cash. Divittorio was charged for possessing these drugs as well. This arrest is a result of an investigation conducted by the Street Crimes Unit. Divittorio was arraigned and a cash bail of $150,000 was placed on her by Olean City Court Judge Dicerbo. Divittorio was transported to the Cattaraugus county jail.
Potter County Artisan Co-op Plans Events and Classes in October
· On October 15, from 5:00 – 7:00 pm Danika DeCarlo will be teaching a Needle Felting Fall Pumpkin Class. All supplies included. Suitable for ages 10 and up. Students under age 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Price of the class $25.00.
· Young Artisans will be celebrating Halloween on October 17 from 3-4:30 with ‘Build a monster’ and ‘Paint a Halloween Lantern’ projects. All supplies and scary treats provided. Price of the class is $25.00. For grades 2nd on up.
· Gary Perkins will be hosting a night of Oil/Acrylic Painting on Thursday October 17, starting at 6:30pm. Attendees are welcome to bring in process projects. Spend the evening with fellow artists painting. Price of this event is $10.00.
· The return of ‘Witches Night Out: Halloween Open House and Spa Night’, a lady only evening, will be hosted by the Potter County Artisan Center on October 18 from 4-8 pm. Enjoy spa services, live music, free wine tasting and great food. Cover for the event is $15.00. Salem Oak Vineyard will be providing wine tasting for the event.
· Artist, Laurie Angood, will be teaching an Adult Watercolor Class on October 25 from 6-8 pm. Artist quality watercolor paper, paint and other supplies provided. Gift bag of take-home supplies included. The price of the class is $35.00.

Halloween Spooktacular at Lyman Run October 19th
The Halloween Spooktacular at Lyman Run will be returning this year. The date is Saturday, October 19 and runs from 7:00 pm until 8:30 pm. As in the past this program is designed for younger children 12 years old and under. The day use picnic area will be magically transformed into the Enchanted Picnic Grove where candy stations will be sent up along an illuminated trail.Fairly lights will be hung from the trees and solar lights will also be used to guide everyone through the grove. Volunteers will be wearing fun costumes instead of scary ones. Cider and cookies will be available at the pavilion during the event which will be rain or shine.
This program is free of charge but free- will donations will be gladly accepted. The program is being hosted by the Friends of Lyman Run- a chapter of the Pennsylvania Parks and Forests Foundation. Everyone who attends is encouraged to wear costumes! Please make sure all the kids have a trick or treat bag or container to collect their candy. Looking forward to seeing all the kids this year and thank you for supporting the Friends of Lyman Run!
Potter County Artisan Co-op hosts ‘Witches’ Night’ for October
The Potter County Artisan Co-op is hosting their second annual ‘Witches Night Out’, a ladies only event, on Friday, October 18 4 pm-8 pm. This year’s festivities include Spa Night, offering services, such as Hand and Foot Reflexology with Ginny Mainus, Full Body Reflexology with Mike Hook, Chair Massages with Jamie Machula, and Lemongrass Spa Pedicures with Kerry Ehrensburger, with prices set by each provider. Complimentary wine tastings will also be provided courtesy of Salem Oak Vineyards from Pedricktown, NY (SalemOakVineyards.com). Live music will be provided by Eppie Bailey and friends. Refreshments will be served for the festivities. New to this year’s event is a decorated witch hat contest with prizes awarded for creativity, in addition to door prizes. There is a $15 cover charge, which includes a commemorative wine glass, while supplies last. The event will be held at 227 N. Main Street, Coudersport, PA. Marilyn I. “Molly” Malone, 88 of 9400 Laidlaw Rd, Franklinville, and formerly of Hinsdale, passed away Wednesday, October 09, 2024 at Olean General Hospital after a short illness
Born on November 21, 1935, in Farmersville, New York she was a daughter of Jay and Ethelyn (Chamberlain) Brown. In 1958, she married John P. Malone who predeceased her on February 26, 2024.
Marilyn was a graduate of Hinsdale Central School Class of 1954 and three years later graduate as a Registered Nurse from the Buffalo School of Nursing.
She began her nursing career at Cuba Memorial Hospital before going to work at Olean General Hospital from where she retired after 30 years.
When her children were young, she was an active Girl Scout Leader and horse show mom always looking forward to when her girls would show horses at the Cattaraugus County Fair. At home she enjoyed gardening, watching the wildlife, baking, and raising cats and dogs throughout the years.

Beverly Joan Retzer, 92, formerly of South Avenue and Congress Street Apartments, Bradford, passed away Saturday, October 5, 2024, at the Bradford Ecumenical Home.
Born April 24, 1932, in Buffalo, NY, she was the daughter of the late Horace W. and Bernice Elvira (Davis) Mines.
She graduated from Wilcox High School in 1950 and was a graduate of Jamestown Business College as a Medical Secretary. She worked for Samuel A. Dispenza, M.D. in Jamestown. Later, she worked at the Child Guidance Clinic, Social Services, and Cerebral Palsy Clinic at Children’s Hospital in Buffalo, NY. Beverly retired in 1993 after working 23 years as secretary to Widad E. Bazzoui, M.D., Medical Director of the Guidance Center.
On April 4, 1953, in the Presbyterian Church in Wilcox with Rev. T. Lambert officiating, she married Ernest N. Retzer who preceded her in death on November 19, 2014.

Catherine M. Cuneo, 76, of Buffalo and formerly of Hemlock Road, St. Marys, passed away Wednesday, October 2, 2024 at Mercy Hospital in Buffalo.
She was born April 21, 1948 in St. Marys, daughter of the late Victor E. and Mary Margaret Henkel Marconi. Cathy was a lifelong resident of the area and was a retired office manager for PennDOT.
On August 14, 1976 in the Sacred Heart Church, Cathy married the late Charles J. Cuneo, who preceded her in death on July 21, 2013.

October 12th Final Farmers Market In Turtlepoint
This Saturday, October 12th, is the final Turtlepoint Farmers Market for the 2024 season! This event is located at the Turtlepoint Community Park and runs from 9-12! Birch and Twig will be coming with their mustard and vinegar varieties! As always, free samples will be available. Jenna-June will be returning with healing skin salves, body butters, bug repellent and body scrubs. Studio 7 Fashions and More will be setting up to showcase their latest items. The Peaceful Pages will be present selling all crocheted hand-made works! Thorny Bush Farm will be present to sell artisan honey blends. Quiet Acres will be present to provide baking supplies and handmade aprons.
Messy Mountain Organics is returning with vegan hand crafted soaps, as well canned goods and breads. Really Rural Woodworks will be returning where you will be sure to find a handcrafted bowl or gift. Larsen brothers will be selling pumpkins and maple syrup. We also will have a variety of Amish baked goods including pies, cookies, donuts and bread.
October is the wrap up month for the market! This is when you are able to stock up on all your favorite items until the 2025 market! With the holiday season, it doesn’t hurt to start thinking of gift ideas also!

Performers Needed For “Dickens on the Street”
Hamilton-Gibson Productions, in collaboration with First Position Dance Studio of Wellsboro, seeks performers to be part of two “Dickens on the Street” groups of performers who will appear at the festival in Wellsboro on Saturday, December 7. The groups will offer songs, poems, dances, and skits. No prior theater experience is needed, just a desire to join in and create engaging short outdoor performances that add to the charm and festivities of Dickens of a Christmas.
Causer, Dush Announce Cameron County Grant
Cameron County has been awarded a grant to rehabilitate its recreation center located in Emporium, Rep. Martin Causer (R-Cameron/McKean/Potter) and Sen. Cris Dush (R-25) announced today.
The $266,534 grant was awarded by the Pennsylvania Broadband Development Authority through its Multi-Purpose Facilities Grant Program. The money will be used to rehabilitate and renovate the recreation center into a modern, attractive, multi-use facility for area residents.
