Our beloved mother and grandmother, Theresa Farnsworth, 88, of Old Smethport Rd., passed away Monday (Sept. 2) at UPMC-Presbyterian with her family by her side. Born March 11, 1936 in Kane, she is the daughter of the late Mike and Mary (Zlosel) Bradley. On Aug. 14, 1953 in Kane she married Russell Farnsworth Jr., who preceded her in death.
Theresa worked at Stackpole and also as a cook at Desio’s Restaurant and the Kane Community Hospital. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting and sewing. She made many treasured gifts over the years for her loved ones. She was an excellent cook and baker and was known for her groskie cookies whom she shared with everyone. She enjoyed spending time on her porch watching the birds and squirrels. She had a love for cats and would feed every stray that showed up. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren who held a special place in her heart. Everyone will miss her dearly.

On Saturday afternoon, discover the rich history behind Cherry Springs State Park with volunteers with the PA Lumber Museum and State Park staff. Walk around the fields visiting important locations while exploring how Cherry Springs grew from a small stop on a winding mountain throughway to a robust region hosting multiple Civilian Conservation Corps Camps.
Registration is encouraged to relay details about the weather. Walk will be about a mile over mostly level grassy and graveled ground. Please leave pets at home, they are not permitted at the park. To register, visit https://bit.ly/CHSPHistoryHike.

KANE – Rep. Martin Causer (R-Cameron/McKean/Potter) is reminding area seniors citizens and their family members and caregivers of the Kane Senior Citizens Expo coming up on
Friday, Sept. 13, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Kane Community Center, 46 Fraley St., Kane.
“There are so many programs and services available to support our senior citizens, but it still can be difficult for people to find the help they need,” Causer said. “I hope area seniors will take advantage of the opportunity to gather a lot of helpful information in one place.”
The event is free to attend, and lunch will be provided. State, county and local exhibitors will be on hand to distribute information and answer questions about a variety of issues. Health screenings will also be offered, and door prize drawings will be held at 12:30 p.m.
Causer noted he will also hold another expo on Friday, Oct. 11, at the Roulette Fire Hall.
Due to the expo, Causer’s office in Kane will be closed all day on Friday, Sept. 13. The offices in Bradford and Coudersport will remain open and may be reached by calling 814- 362-4400 in Bradford or 814-274-9769 in Coudersport.

Ray is survived by his wife, Pamela: daughter Becky (Jim) Ulmer of Tampa, FL: daughter Laurie (Bill) Gable of Stockbridge, GA: daughter Sally (Jerry) Lucia of Westfield, NC : brother Fred (Margie) Scalise of Warren, PA; sister Jean (Frank) Temple of Youngsville, PA; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews: 4 stepchildren; and 2 step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dominic and Sara Scalise.
Memorial services will be held at the Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home Inc., 304 East St. Warren, PA 16365, on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at 10:00 am with Fr. Richard Tomasone, pastor of St. Joseph R.C. Church, officiating.

Bruce Edward West, 63, of Route 321 in East Kane, passed away Monday (September 2, 2024) at his home. Born August 25, 1961, in Bradford, he is a son of Virginia J. (Warner) West of Kane and the late Dale West. On April 20, 1991, at St. Bernard’s in Bradford, he married Marianne (Przestrzelski) West who survives.
He was a 1979 graduate of Bradford High School and received his BS in Geology at the University of Pittsburgh- Bradford. He was a member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists.

Long-time Cameron County-based Notary Public Diane Bolin, who retired after 36 years of distinguished service, was honored this week as state Rep. Martin Causer (R-Cameron/McKean/Potter) presented her with a citation from the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. Causer noted the important role notaries play in ensuring the accuracy and legitimacy of countless government-related documents by serving as an impartial witness, and he commended Bolin for always going above and beyond to provide these vital services to the community.

Johnsonburg, Pa.: Jim Miller of St Marys brought in the lone coyote on the last day of Rolfe Beagle Club’s Statewide, 10-Day, Coyote and Crow Hunt. And it was a well-deserved coyote. This was Jim’s first time entering the Rolfe Hunt and his first coyote harvested during the hunt timeframe. “I started hunting predators just recently and I shot a coyote a couple of weeks ago, so I was excited to see if I could harvest another one during the hunt timeframe.
