​Montoursville, PA – Motorists in north central Pennsylvania are advised the restrooms at the Interstate 80 westbound rest area in Montour County are temporarily closed due to a loss of water in the area.​

The restrooms will reopen once issue has been resolved. Parking is still open to motorists.

Each year the Cameron County Chamber of Commerce hosts a Firequacker Duck Derby to raise funds for the fireworks during Weekend in the Wilds.  An anonymous donor who plans a family reunion around the fireworks is issuing a challenge.  He would like to see North Broad Street filled curb to curb with ducks. 

So far residents have adopted nearly 1,000 ducks.   The goal is to reach 1300!.  The anonymous donor recently adopted 360 of the quackers in the hope that others will come into the chamber office and lsupport the fireworks with a duck adoption.  One duck may be obtained for $2.00 while a 6-quack can be selected for $10.00.  The ducks will paddle down North Broad Street with the help of the Emporium Fire Department at 2pm on Saturday July 6.

The Volunteers That Care thank all of you who made our recent purse bingo fundraiser a huge success. To the friends of our membership who stepped up to help with setting up and working the event, thank you.  To all individuals and businesses that donated items to our basket raffle, thank you.  To those who donated purses and sponsored purses, thank you. To the American Legion Post 192, thank you for hosting and assisting with our event.  Our membership also deserves thanks for their time, travel, donations, hard work, and dedication to our fundraiser and mission.

With such generous support, VTC can continue to provide gas cards to help cancer patients travel to their treatments.  There is so much need.  To date in 2024, we have distributed $7,200.00 worth of gas cards.

Our next goal is to reach out to all Potter County community events to spread further awareness of our services.  In addition to having a presence at these events, we also have members willing to speak to community organizations.

The public is invited to attend a SENIOR EXPO AND POTTER COUNTY SENIOR CENTER COUNTY WIDE GET-TOGETHER to be held at the Coudersport Arboretum located at 201 S West Street, Coudersport, on Monday, June 24th from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Rain date will be Tuesday, June 25th. The SENIOR EXPO is sponsored by the Coudersport Arboretum Association and in collaboration with Potter County Human Services Area Agency on Aging.

This year’s carnival opens Monday night. Fire Department food booths and games will reopen. There will be live entertainment on the amphitheater starting with Acoustics by Fudge followed by Sleepwalker. Booths open at 6:00. Come hungry and bring a lawn chair.

Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) today announced that all driver license and photo centers, including its full-service center in Harrisburg, will be closed Wednesday, June 19, 2024, in observance of the Juneteenth holiday.

June 19, known as Juneteenth National Freedom Day, is an official annual observance in Pennsylvania. Juneteenth marks June 19, 1865, when union soldiers reached Galveston, Texas – the furthest point in the south – with news of the end of the Civil War. Juneteenth is a day to commemorate emancipation and the steps we’ve taken towards freedom.

Possible impacts of elevated levels of magnesium, sodium, calcium, chloride and/or phosphorus can include the following depending on the type of animal and specific ingredient involved: weight loss or decreased appetite; weak and listless behavior; reduced consumption; increased thirst; reduced feed conversion; reduced feed efficiency; diarrhea and/or watery feces; reduced or slow growth rate; weakness; increase in urinary stones; increased breathing rate; lethargy; fatigue; poor performance; bone deformities; reduced feed efficiency, egg production, and growth rate and possible mortality.
