Soil Remediation This Week on I-180 WB in Delaware Township, Northumberland County
Montoursville, PA – Motorists are advised of a lane restriction this week on Interstate 180 westbound in Delaware Township, Northumberland County, for a soil remediation project due to a previous crash.
On Wednesday, March 13, 2024, the contractor will be working on Interstate 180 westbound approximately 2.5 miles from the Interstate 80 interchange. Motorists can expect the right (driving) lane and shoulder to be restricted. Work will be performed between the hours of 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM, weather permitting.
Motorists should expect minor delays, watch for slow or stopped vehicles, and watch for construction vehicles entering and exiting the roadway.

BRADFORD, Pa. — It can be difficult for college students to commit to a career path when they haven’t had much life experience. That’s especially true if their path requires a lot of complex training and dedication – they need to focus early, but how do they know they will like what they’ve chosen?
PMEA District 2 Jazz Band and PMEA Region II Band
Lily Madison and Raelin Meacham participated in the PMEA District 2 Jazz Band held in February at Collegiate Academy in Erie. Lily, piano, and Raelin, tenor saxophone, were in one of four jazz bands selected through an audition held in November of 2023.
They worked with guest conductor John Roden from the General McLane School District in Edinboro and presented a public concert to end the event. Raelin, clarinet; and Lily, percussion, qualified for PMEA Region II Band Festival through their audition at the district band festival.
This year, Meadville Area Senior High School hosted the event with 160 students from all over Northwestern Pennsylvania. The festival was held February 22-24 and was guest conducted by Dr. Brad Genevro from Oklahoma State University.

CRCF Community Fund Grant Applications Due April 15
OLEAN, N.Y., March 5, 2024 — The Cattaraugus Region Community Foundation’s Community Fund grant application process is open, with grant applications due April 15.
The Community Fund makes possible two rounds of annual funding, one in May and one in November, for unrestricted grants intended to support nonprofit projects and initiatives that respond to the changing needs of the community.
Applicants must be 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organizations or a government entity or school district.
Daniel K. “Mack” Lechner, 82, of St. Marys, PA
Daniel K. “Mack” Lechner, 82, of St. Marys, PA passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, March 8, 2024.
He was born on June 5, 1941 in St. Marys, PA, a son of the late William and Sophie Barbarich Lechner.
On November 25, 1961, at Queen of the World Church, he married Carol Nussbaum, who survives. Together they shared more than 62 years of love, laughter, and marriage.
Mack was a 1959 graduate of Elk County Catholic High School. He went on to retire from Keystone Thermometrics after many years of service. He was a member of the St. Marys Moose, and in his free time enjoyed playing cards and going on trips to Salamanca. Mack excelled at bowling and was the city singles champ at one time. He could often be found telling jokes and making people laugh, or spending time on his porch taking care of flowers and watching hummingbirds. His family was the highlight of his life, he loved spending time with his grandkids and great-grandkids, and going for car rides with his loving wife.

Gloria J. Vecellio, 87, of W. Irvine Street, Lewis Run, PA passed away peacefully at home in her sleep on Friday, March 8, 2024, at her residence.
Born August 6, 1936, in Crosby, she was a daughter of the late Albin and Ida (Frigo) Faes. She attended school in Crosby and graduated from Smethport High School.
On August 4, 1956 in Smethport, she married Clayton V. Vecellio, who survives.
Gloria was employed at Allegheny Bradford Corporation.
