MEN’S BASKETBALL
Junior Gavin Barrett of Roselle, New Jersey, was named to the D3Hoops.com District 4 All-Region third team, it was announced on Thursday. Barrett becomes the college’s first men’s basketball player in the NCAA era (since 2014) to earn all-region honors.
No stranger to making program history, Barrett was the first player to earn a United East Conference first-team selection as a sophomore and the first to earn that honor in back-to-back seasons when he was named to the first team this season. He led NCAA Division III in assists per game (7.7) and triple-doubles (2) this season while he tied for second in the division with a 1.7 assist-to-turnover ratio and sixth in scoring (16.9 ppg). Barrett recorded his triple-doubles in back-to-back games against Gallaudet (15 points, 16 assists, 10 rebounds) and Penn State Berks (22 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists) and scored his 1,000th career point against Gallaudet on Jan. 20.
