At 7:47 PM on Friday, Port Allegany ambulance was called to East Mill Street for a fall victim.
Florida Woman Arrested on Warrant in Cuba, NY
Cuba Police Department
On February 20th, 2024 at approximately 7:56 PM, Cuba Police arrested Katelyn Amberlese (30) of Orlando, Florida. Amberlese was arrested on a fugitive of justice out-of-state warrant.
Amberlese was processed and placed in front of a judge and sent to the Allegany County Jail to await extradition. Amberlese is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
COMMENTS ON PROPOSED WATERFOWL SEASONS ACCEPTED
Hunters and members of waterfowl organizations have several options to ask questions and voice opinions on the 2024-25 proposed migratory game bird seasons.
Questions or comments can be submitted to waterfowlcomments@pa.gov, or a letter can be mailed to Pennsylvania Game Commission, Bureau of Wildlife Management, 2001 Elmerton Avenue, Harrisburg, PA 17110-9797.
An online question-and-answer session will be held on the proposed seasons on Thursday, March 7 at 1 p.m. on the Game Commission’s Facebook page. The briefing will be recorded, and a link will be available to view at www.pgc.pa.gov.
Bonnie J. Young, 84, of 307 Porter Avenue
BUFFALO — Bonnie J. Young of 307 Porter Avenue, passed away on Monday (February 19, 2024) following an illness and overall decline in health.
Bonnie was born December 8, 1939, in Port Allegany, PA and was the daughter of Maynard and Evelyn Blanchard Painter.
Bonnie graduated from Port Allegany High School in 1957. She went on to study at a SUNY school in Buffalo, obtaining her degree as a registered nurse. Her career as a nurse allowed her to work in multiple settings with many types of patients who benefited from her care and compassion. Bonnie had a passion for caring for the elderly with the majority of her career spent working in skilled nursing settings in Olean, Allegany, Buffalo, and Niagara Falls.
2 WANTED BY MCKEAN COUNTY DRUG TASK FORCE
(McKEAN COUNTY, Pennsylvania: February 23, 2024): District Attorney Stephanie Vettenburg-Shaffer reports that the McKean County Drug Task Force is currently looking for two individuals wanted on drug charges.
Mark NAGY has been charged in two criminal complaints by Detective Kolin Strawcutter with Delivery of a Controlled Substance (cocaine) – Felony; Delivery of a Controlled Substance (fluorofentanyl (a fentanyl derivative)) – Felony; and other charges.
Detective Strawcutter has also filed a criminal complaint against Christina Lynn-Hamilton charging her with Conspiracy to Deliver a Controlled Substance (cocaine) – Felony and other charges. She is charged with conspiring with Nagy in the delivery.
Arrest warrants have been issued for the arrest of NAGY and HAMILTON. If you know of their location, please alert law enforcement. The last known address of both individuals is Shinglehouse, PA.

C. Dennis Alward, 83, of Bradford, PA
C. Dennis Alward, 83, of Bradford, PA passed away on Monday, February 19, 2024, at the Olean General Hospital, Olean, NY.
He was born on May 14, 1940, in Ridgewood, NJ, a son of the late Thilander and Beulah Hood Alward.
On July 26, 1975, in Allendale, NJ, he married Diane E. Hartman who preceded him in death on May 11, 2017.
He was a truck driver for the former NBS Trucking and Kightlinger Trucking until his retirement.
Causer Honors Public Servants
Two long-serving leaders received special recognition for their work at a McWaPEC Counties Boroughs Association meeting held recently in Mount Jewett. George Hults of Coudersport was honored for his 30 years of service as a member of the Coudersport Borough Council. Irv Swartz of Lewis Run was honored for his nearly 20 years of service as a member of the Lewis Run Borough Council. Rep. Martin Causer (R-Turtlepoint) presented both men with congratulatory citations from the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.
Cora Helen Miller, 96, of Hamburg, New York, formerly of Emporium, PA
Cora Helen Miller, 96, of Hamburg, New York, formerly of Emporium, PA passed away peacefully at home on Friday morning (February 23, 2024). She was born April 16, 1927 in Sinnamahoning, PA a daughter of the late Charles and Louella Swank Goss. On June 26, 1948 in Sinnamahoning United Methodist Church she married the late Lloyd Miller who preceded her in death on December 30, 2017.
Mrs. Miller graduated from Emporium High School in the class of 1944. She was a longtime volunteer with Salvation Army and the Food Pantry in Emporium.
Delores “Dee” Greville, 96, of Highland Rd. in Kane, PA
Delores “Dee” Greville, 96, of Highland Rd. in Kane, PA passed away Tuesday (Feb. 20) in the Lutheran Home at Kane. Born March 3, 1927 in Nansen, she is the daughter of the late Charles and Laura (Barner) Weaver. In 1947 at the St. Callistus, she married James Greville, who preceded her in death.
Dee graduated from Kane Area High School in 1945. She was a past president of the P.T.A for both St. Callistus and Erickson Schools. She was the Chairman of Mothers March of Dimes in Kane from 1969-1970 and also was the hostess for the Kane Welcome Wagon for 19 years. She was the owner and manager of the Winsor Hotel and Bar and the Birdcage for 18 years.
Dee served on the United Way board of directors for six years and was a former member of the Kane Elks Club, the VFW, the Kane Eagles, the Kane Senior Center and St. Callistus Catholic Church. She prepared the meals for the Kane Rotary for years and in honor of her commitment, she was awarded the Paul Harris Award, which is Rotary’s highest honor. Dee also was a Can Can Dancer for the March of Dimes and also for the Church Women United.

Marjorie “Jean” Clawson Quiggle Hackett
Marjorie “Jean” Clawson Quiggle Hackett passed away Sunday, January 14 at Warren General Hospital at the age of 99 just shy of her 100th birthday.
Jean was born March 5, 1924, in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Robert J. and Hannah A. (Shuster) Clawson. Jean worked several jobs in the Cleveland area including a time at the Rations Board during the Great Depression where she would routinely slip extra ration coupons into the hands of parents needing shoes for their children.
Her family moved to Corydon, PA where her grandparents owned and operated the Clawson General Store. She graduated from Kinzua High School where she was the standout woman’s basketball player and captain of her team and was voted most popular of her graduating class. Jean worked for many years at the Blair Corporation and the Warren County School District as a Library Aid at Beaty Junior High School and Warren Area High School.
Jean was a devout Catholic and a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church and St Joseph’s Catholic Church during her lifetime. Determined to remain active well into her 90’s, Jean could be seen walking her neighborhood and greeting everyone on her front porch most days. Jean also enjoyed boating at Kinzua for many years with her family and her brothers’ family each summer enjoying the many fun-loving antics of the nieces and nephews.

James R. McDowell, 89, of Crosby, PA
Smethport – James R. McDowell, 89, of Crosby, PA passed away Thursday (February 22, 2024) at Sena Kean Manor, Smethport.
He was born March 29, 1934 in Smethport, the son of James and Golda (Eberly) McDowell. On January 29, 1955, in Farmers Valley, PA, he married Anita L. Russell, who survives.
Jim attended Smethport Area Schools and had worked at Emporium Hardwoods and then for his own business, McDowell’s Welding in Crosby.
Jim was a member of the McKean Lodge #388 F&AM of Smethport and the John Berg Post #976 of Crosby as a social member.
Jim enjoyed the outdoors, vegetable gardening and working with wood. He was a master craftsman who built his house and several hope chests for family and friends. He was a self-taught welder/mechanic who could fix or build anything. For many years, he enjoyed working side by side with his son, Doug. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren/great-grandchildren play sports and hosting and attending hot dog roasts with family and friends. Jim also loved going to local stock car races and watching NASCAR on TV. His skill and friendship will be missed by many friends and family.
