Elk County Coroner Michelle A. Muccio-Krise is releasing the 2024 year-end report for the Elk County Coroner’s Office. During the year of 2024, 283 cases were investigated by the Coroner’s Office.

The breakdown is as follows:
63-Natural deaths
14-Accidental deaths with the following breakdown:
8 falls
3 fire-related deaths
1 aspiration
1 hypothermia
1 drug overdose
6 Suicides
1 Homicide
1 pending investigation
39 nursing home deaths
The office also examined and issued 159 cremation authorizations and assisted four mothers through the Elk County Cribs for Kids program, which provides cribs to mothers who are in need of a safe sleep space for their baby.
