The annual Lady Gator Volleyball Banquet was held recently at the VMI in Port Allegany. Sponsored by the Volleyball Boosters, Jenn Moses served as MC for the event.
Speaking at the event were JH Coach Allison Lathrop; JV Coach Tyler Burr and Head Coach Matt Burr.
Seniors volleyball players were the guests of honor and are pictured: (left to right) Kayleigha Dowell, Brie Hosterman, Paige Threadgill-Crum; Lily Babcock, Amber Funk and Jossalynn Mereen.
Also honored were four athletes who reached milestones this past season – Kayleigha Dowell, 500 Digs; Isla Lehmier, 500 Assists; and Ella Moses with 500 Kills and 500 Digs.

Courses being offered include Introduction to Psychology, Foundations of Math, Environmental Biology, Cyber Crime, Public Speaking, and many more. These courses are part of five associate degrees – Business Administration, Criminal Justice, Early Childhood Education, Liberal Studies, and Social Sciences. Of course, if you are not interested in pursuing an associate degree at this time, NPRC’s team will help you select courses or training that meets whatever goal you would like to achieve.

This Saturday, Dec. 16 at 7 p.m., a non-denominational Community Christmas Concert will be held at the First Baptist Church at 25 Central Avenue in Wellsboro. The concert is sponsored by Arise Cafe and is being produced by Chris Eckert Music. It is free and open to the public.
Patricia E. “Patty” Eckert, 83, of Ridgway, PA died on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at her residence after a brief illness.
She was born on November 27, 1940, a daughter of the late James and Margaret Emmert Renaud
On April 3, 1980, in Johnsonburg, she married Charles Eckert who survives.
Patty was a graduate of Kersey High School and Christian by faith. She retired from Ridgway Powder Metals and was an active member of the Fox Twp Senior Center. Patty, along with her husband, was the founders of the Heckowee Camping club traveling to various states. She loved spending time with her family and was known for her amazing apple pies. Along with her camp, she enjoyed fishing with Charles, crocheting, and traveling. “Love ya later”
Charles E. “Chuck” Hullihen, 89, of 128 Comet Road, St. Marys, PA passed away Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at his residence, surrounded by his family.
He was born September 11, 1934, in Bradford, son of the late Milford Hullihen and Leah Van Houtte Hullihen Grasser. Chuck was a lifelong resident of the area and attended St. Marys Area Schools before entering the United States Army and serving in Japan. He was employed at Pure Carbon, where he met his loving wife of 66 years, prior to working at St. Marys Tool and Die, where he retired in 1999.
On August 17, 1957, in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Ridgway, Charles married June Ellen Nelson, who survives.
Margaret Ann “Peg” Pistner, 81, of 8 Brown Avenue, Bradford, PA passed away Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at Olean General Hospital.

Esther Lorraine Dover, 90, of Langmaid Lane Bradford, PA passed away Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at the Bradford Ecumenical Home.
Born August 8, 1933, in Custer City, she was a daughter of the late John and Rose (Steffy) Leonard II. She was a graduate of Bradford High School where she was in the marching band and was elected May Queen.
Esther had been employed as an assembler at Corning Glass in Bradford, she also was a waitress and played the piano in various restaurants and night clubs like the Brookside, Legends, and Roman Villa.
Jane Williams, 90, of Ridgway, PA died on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at McKinley Heathcare.

Gale Community Foundation a/k/a Galeton Foundation provides grants to community organizations located in the Galeton borough and surrounding area and scholarships to every graduating senior of the Galeton Area High School who applies. The Galeton Foundation is proud to announce the recipients of their 2023 grants. The Administrative Board and Advisory Committee reviewed all submitted applications and decided to support seven Galeton area not-for-profit organizations with $66,000 in funding.
