The Nessmuk Rod and Gun Club’s last two skeet shoots for members and the public are from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. this Sunday, Oct. 8 and next Sunday, Oct. 15 at the club’s outdoor range at 4646 Route 287 in Delmar Township, 6.5 miles south of Wellsboro.
The fee to shoot skeet for members and non-members 18 years of age and older is $6 per round of 25 clays. Skeet shooting is $3 for youth ages 12 to 17.
Shooters have to provide their own shotguns and ammunition. Eye and ear protection are required.

Lawrence H. “Larry” Mitchell, age 92, of Blossburg, PA, died on Sunday, October 1, 2023.
He was born on September 30, 1931 in Blossburg, PA a son of the late William and Stella (Novitski) Mitchell.
Larry was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Blossburg and retired as an assistant manager for Acme Markets, Wellsboro, PA with over 30 years of service.
October Skye Metcalf, age 16, of Harrison Valley, PA passed away unexpectedly on Sunday morning, October 1, 2023 due to an automobile accident.
Born April 11, 2007 in Wellsboro, she was the daughter of Alexander Metcalf and Crystal Webster. She lived full-time with her father and was his and her grandmother’s whole world; she loved them very much. She loved her mother and all her family very much.
October Skye went to school at Cowanesque Valley in her younger years, where she was a CV cheerleader and won many trophies at competitions and currently was a Junior at the Northern Potter High School; her favorite teacher was Mrs. Mcorkle.
She was looking forward and hoping to attend Alfred State College in her future. Skye was kind, sweet and cared about everyone. She loved to hang with her friends, laugh and show all the new tricks on her iPhone.
To relieve some of her stress she liked to put together lego sets. October Skye was deeply loved by everyone she met in her life.
She is survived by her three dogs, Bailey (her baby), Magnus and Roo; two cats, Midnight and Dawn; her parents, Alex Metcalf and Crystal Webster; sister, Alea White; grandparents, Pat and Randy Metcalf and Pat and Stan Webster; aunt, Melissa Webster and uncle, Aaron Metcalf.
She lost her dog, Trapper, who she loved too.

Scott T. Wise, 47, a resident of Sena Kean Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Smethport, and formerly of St. Marys, passed away Thursday, September 28, 2023, at Sena Kean, after a lengthy illness.
He was born May 21, 1976, in St. Marys, son of the late Charles P. Wise II and Connie Steele. He was a graduate of Ridgway High School.
On August 18, 2007, in the Queen of the World Church, Scott married Lacy Young, who survives.
On October 2nd, 2023 at approximately 7:04 PM, following a report of a female allegedly threatening to stab another person, Cuba Police arrested Diane Casciani (40) of Cuba.
Casciani was arrested on charges of menacing 2nd with a weapon (Misdemeanor), endangering the welfare of a child (Misdemeanor) and reckless endangerment 1st (Felony).
Casciani was processed and placed in front of a Cuba Town Judge and released to appear at a later date. Casciani is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

This year’s Fall Antique Show & Sawmill Run will be held on Saturday, October 7th and Sunday, October 8th. Northern Pennsylvania typically reaches peak fall foliage conditions around this time so the forests surrounding the museum will (hopefully) be decked in rich and beautiful colors.
The Antique Show features multiple antique vendors who will be selling their wares in the museum program room. Our vendors have a little bit of everything, including antique tools, vintage clothing, collectible coins, glassware, books, and furniture. Vendors open 9am-5pm Saturday and 9am-3pm Sunday.
Food and beverages will be available for purchase. No ATM is available on site so plan your visit accordingly.
Outside, the museum grounds will come alive with historic trade demonstrations. On Saturday 10/7 (ONLY) the engines of our steam-powered circular sawmill will be running from 10 AM to 3 PM. Other demonstrations will be happening over both days of the event at the birch still, lumber camp kitchen, blacksmith shop, and the Eastern Loggers model railroad display.

The Northeast Association of Conservation District Employees (NACDE) recently announced their 2023 award recipients.
Cliff Lane Received the Northeast Association of Conservation District Employees (NACDE) District Leader Award. This award is presented to a director or other individual who is doing an outstanding job working with district professionals on a regional basis, helps obtain the goals of NACDE and the regional partnership, and assists in expanding employee professional development.
Cliff currently serves as PACD (Pennsylvania Association of Conservation Districts) North West Region Director, NACD (National Association of Conservation Districts) North East Region Representative, and Commissioner Secretary/Treasurer at the McKean County Conservation District.
Sandy Thompson, Manager of McKean County Conservation District and former Vice President of the Northeast Association of Conservation District Employees (NACDE), received the 2023 NACDE President’s Award. President Jeff Parker, from Steuben County, New York, selected Sandy for the award.
The Ulysses Area Improvement hosted a Community Picnic on Sunday, Oct 1. At the picnic they surprised and honored MaryJane Haskins for her years of service as the Borough Mayor.
Mrs. Haskins was presented items from Rep. Martin Causer’s Office by Susan Paisley and Shelley Butler. Flowers from 2023 Miss Ulysses Allison Lewis, a BIG Thank You note signed by everyone at the picnic presented by President of Ulysses Area Improvement, Alicia Freeman.
A presentation from the Potter County Commissioners, presented by Commissioners Nancy Grupp and Barry Hayman. A key to the City from acting Mayor Roy Hunt, and from the Borough Council members, presented by Steve Riley.
All of MaryJane and her husband Bill‘s children surprised her by being present for her being honored. MaryJane has served as Mayor of Ulysses since January of 2006.
