Kathleen L. Frost, age 77, of Elkland, PA passed away on Friday, September 22, 2023 at her home.Â
Born July 15, 1946 in Corning, NY, she was the daughter of the late George and Elouise (Smith) Shannon, Sr.Â
Kathleen graduated from Bradford High School and attended Corning Community College. She enjoyed square dancing in her younger years, gardening, bird watching, cake decorating and scratch-off tickets. She was a supporter of the Parkhurst Presbyterian Church in Elkland.Â
Barbara Jane (Sherman) Potter, age 84, of Elkland, PA entered into eternal rest on Sunday, September 17, 2023 at her home surrounded by family.Â
Born June 26, 1939 to James Erwin Sherman and Blanche VanZile, she was the 9th of 13 children and a life-long resident of Elkland, living her entire life in the very home where she was born.Â
Barbara was a wonderful soul inside and out, putting the care of everyone else first. She served as Tax Collector for the borough of Elkland for many years and was well known to all.Â
At 2:55 PM on Saturday, Harrison, Genesee & Ulysses Fire & EMS have been dispatched to Rt. 49 near the Pusher Siding Road for a one-vehicle crash.
The vehicle was reported in the ditch, unknown if injuries.
John D. “Buzzy” Morrison, 40, of Route 6, Kane, PA passed away in UPMC-Presbyterian after complications from a long-term illness. Â
Born July 24, 1983 in Kane, he is the son of John and Beverly (Lundgren) Morrison. Â
Buzzy enjoyed bicycling, drawing, gaming and photography.

On June 17, 2023 at 12:07 p.m., Troopers out of SP Machias responded to a head-on collision on Freedom Road in the town of Freedom.
 The investigation determined that a 2006 Dodge Ram traveling westbound on Freedom Road crossed the center line and struck an oncoming 2005 Ford Focus traveling eastbound.
The operator of the Ford, Dahlia J. Klink, 24 of Freedom, NY and a 4-year-old passenger were taken by Mercy Flight for serious injuries. The other two passengers in the Ford, Havanah S. Lopez, 17 of Java, NY and Molly Kibler, 6 of Freedom, NY were deceased at the scene.
The operator of the Dodge, Evan R. Klink, 21, of Freedom, NY was treated for injuries and then transported to SP Warsaw for an evaluation and the passenger of the Dodge, Cameron Klink, 19, of Freedom, NY was transported by Mercy Flight with serious injuries.Â
On June 18, 2023, Dahlia J. Klink, 24, of Freedom, NY succumbed to her injuries while at Erie County Medical Center.
UPDATE-Â On September 21, 2023, Evan R. Klink, 21 of Freedom, NY was arrested for Murder 2nd degree-3 counts, Aggravated Vehicular Homicide- 1 count, Vehicular Manslaughter 1st degree- 1 count, Vehicular Assault 1st degree-1 count, Reckless Driving, Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs and other vehicle traffic tickets.
The New York State Police and the Cattaraugus District Attorney’s Office working in collaboration, effectively made the indictment and arrest on the charges of Evan Klink.Â
The operators of both vehicles involved were brother and sister.
NYSP Collision Reconstruction Unit, Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Cattaraugus County District Attorney’s Office and Arcade Fire Department assisted in this investigation.

September 20, 2023 — The Leadership Cattaraugus Scholarship Fund at the Cattaraugus Region Community Foundation will be accepting applications from aspiring leaders hoping to participate in the Leadership Cattaraugus 2024 cohort through Oct. 31.
The Leadership Cattaraugus board of directors established the scholarship fund in 2018 to make program tuition more affordable to worthy individuals applying to participate in the leadership program.
The 2024 Leadership Cattaraugus program will take place from January through October. Applications are now being accepted at www.leadershipcattaraugus.org. Scholarship applicants must also apply for inclusion in the 2024 cohort.
Motorists are advised that a crack sealing project continues next week on multiple routes in Lycoming and Tioga counties.
On Sunday, September 24, 2023, the contractor, Vestal Asphalt, will be crack sealing on Route 15 in both directions starting in the Borough of South Williamsport through Armstrong, Clinton and Brady townships to the Lycoming / Union County line. Additional work this week includes the Route 15 interchange ramps at Foy Avenue in Old Lycoming Township. Motorists can expect lane restrictions where work is being performed.
Rolling Roadblocks
In areas on Route 15 where there is a concrete barrier separating the northbound and southbound lanes, traffic will be controlled using a rolling roadblock. Work in this area is anticipated to be performed on Sunday, September 24, 2023, and Monday, September 25, 2023. Motorists can expect traffic delays and should avoid the area if possible.
Work will be performed between the hours of 6:00 PM and 6:00 AM, weather permitting.
Additional work on this project includes the below routes in Lycoming and Tioga counties.

Route 14 in Lewis and McIntyre townships
Route 15 in Brady, Clinton, and Armstrong townships
Route 220 in Porter, Piatt, and Woodward townships

Route 2014 (Lycoming Mall Road) in Fairfield, Muncy, and Muncy Creek townships
Tioga County
Route 287 in Lawrenceville Borough; and Tioga and Lawrence townships
Route 49 in Lawrenceville and Westfield boroughs; and Westfield and Deerfield townships
Route 249 in Middlebury Township
Route 660 in Richmond Township
Route 2005 in Blossburg Borough; Covington and Putnam townships
Work on routes in Lycoming County will be performed between the hours of 6:00 PM and 6:00 AM. There are no work time restrictions on the routes in Tioga County. Motorists can expect single lane restrictions with flagging where work is being performed. Work on this project is mobile, motorists can expect slow moving vehicle, possible rolling roadblocks on a portion of Route 15 in Lycoming County where work is being performed.
Vestal Asphalt is the prime contractor for the $ 641,243 crack sealing project. Work on this project is expected to be completed in December of 2023, weather permitting.
Motorists should be alert, slow down, expect delays in travel, and drive with caution through the work zone.
