UAHS Announces August Star Awards

BRADFORD, PA & OLEAN, NY – Upper Allegheny Health System (UAHS) parent company of Bradford Regional Medical Center (BRMC) and Olean General Hospital (OGH), members of Upper Allegheny Health System (UAHS), are proud to announce the August star award winners for each hospital campus. Jason Santora and Amy Hayman were recognized at in person ceremonies at BRMC and OGH, respectively.
The star award is offered monthly at BRMC and OGH to an employee who displays exceptional performance and inspires others to do the same. Members of the team are nominated for outstanding customer service, ongoing performance improvement, teamwork, communication, ownership/accountability, and excellence. Employees are selected through patient as well as co-worker nominations.
Jason Santora, a security officer at BRMC, was awarded the honor on July 25.

Gladys M. Wilcox, age 76, of Corning, NY passed away at home on Monday, August 7, 2023.

Born March 31, 1947 in Huntingdon, TN, she was the daughter of the late Levi E. and Gladys (Fuller) Thomas.

My life is over, the pain and heartache are gone, I am now at home with all the loved one’s that have gone before me. Please don’t be sad, you each have a life to live, live it for yourselves. Please know I am very proud of you all. I leave my dearest children, Billy Wright, Paul Jr. (Stephanie) and Malyssa (Dustin Bryant).

I love each one of you dearly, along with the many other unbiological children that call me mom. My precious grandchildren, Savana, Cheyene, Haley, Thomas and Jordan – Grandma loves you dearly, please always know that you are dear to me, along with all the other children that call me Grandma. I have been blessed to have many children, grandchildren and a few great grandchildren. My brother, Elmer; sister in law, Nancy; nieces and nephews, Larry (Wanda), Fred (Teressa), Mark (Karen), Kim (Sam), Ron, Troy (Kitty), Symantha, Candy (Rich), Lexie, Mandy, Christine, Todd (Carly), Cathy, Mike (Gayle), Tonya, Justin and Josh ( Stephanie) and many dear cousins and dear friends.

Don’t be sad now over me, I lived a long, good life. I am truly ready to go home and be with my family and friends who have already gone; my husband, Paul; my brothers, Carl and Gaylon and my sister in law, Linda. Enjoy your life, Love those around you who love you.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Artisan Center Schedules Several Classes

The Potter County Artisan Center in Coudersport is planning several classes over the next few weeks.

Laurie Angood, will also teach a ‘Young Artisan’ (grades 2-6) class on Thursday, Friday, August 17 from 3:00-4:30 pm.  Students will be painting a multi-media piece representing the night sky.  Cost is $20.00.  All materials are provided. 

Artist, Theresa Welsh, is offering a Paint ‘n’ Party on Thursday August 17, 6-8 pm. Price is $30 featuring an elk and trees against a starry sky.  Supplies included. 

Theresa Welsh, will also offer a workshop to paint and assemble a wooden cow decoration.  Saturday, August 26 from 2:00-4:30 pm.  Price is $35 and includes supplies. 

To register for these classes, please call the center at 814-274-8165.  The co-op cannot guarantee registration via Facebook or Messenger. The co-op is located at 227 N. Main Street and is open 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Saturday.

Artisan Co-op Hosts Dark Sky Open House

The Potter County Artisan Co-op is hosting a ‘Heavenly Nights’ Open House to celebrate the addition of the All-New Dark Sky Room, Saturday, August 19, 4-7 pm. This new retail space includes paintings, photography, pottery, and many other products inspired by Potter County’s beautiful night sky. Come celebrate with us and enjoy refreshments and live music by local favorites, Eppie Bailey and Steve Quelet.
