Elaine Alice Flynn, 92, of Galeton, PA, passed away on Friday, August 18, 2023, at the Sweden Valley Manor, Coudersport, PA. 

Born August 4, 1931, in Hector Township, PA, she was a daughter of the late Gaylord and Hazel (Naylor) Jeffers. On April 15, 1950, she married Claude Flynn, who preceded her in death on January 21, 1988.

John E. Lyon, 79, a lifelong resident of Stanton Hill Road, Russell, PA

John E. Lyon, 79, a lifelong resident of Stanton Hill Road, Russell, PA, passed away peacefully, Friday August 18th at the John & Orpha Blair Hospice House in Warren Pa. after a courageous and lengthy battle with cancer.

Born January 6, 1944, in Jamestown NY, he was the son of the late William Lyon & Catherine (Myers) Lyon- Bloss.

John was a 1962 graduate of Eisenhower High School and went on to complete education at the Pennsylvania School of Banking at Bucknell University and the American Institute of Banking. John entered the Army on May 4, 1965, and served in the Vietnam Conflict until his discharge on April 25, 1967, where he received the award for Exceptional Meritorious Service while serving in the 159th Transportation Battalion in Qui Nhon, Republic of Vietnam.

Elsie Kay Pasquino, 83, a former resident of The Villages, Florida and Warren, PA, died Thursday, August 17, 2023, at River Park, Little River, S.C., at home peacefully surrounded by her loving family. Elsie was born September 19, 1939, in Erie, PA.  She was the daughter of James “Yaokee” and Lillian DeBello Caruso. 

Elsie was a 1957 graduate of Villa Maria Academy and St. Vincent Hospital School of Nursing where she earned her Licensed Practical Nursing license. She stepped away from nursing to be a “stay at home” mom to raise her daughters.  Later in life she worked at Turners Appliances and along with her husband were part owners of the former Gilbert’s Restaurant.

PRESS RELEASE

On August 10, 2023, the Bureau of Criminal Investigation out of SP Amity arrested Ravyn M. Cramer, 26 for Assault 2nd degree- Injuries person less than 7 years old (2 counts) D Felony, Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Tyler J. Cramer, 28 both of Angelica, NY was arrested for Assault 3rd degree and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

On August 9, 2023, Troopers and the Bureau of Criminal Investigation started an investigation on a possible child abuse incident in the village of Angelica. Investigation determined that Ravyn shoved two children’s faces in feces as a form of punishment leaving injuries to the children under 7 years of age. The Children both received medical attention at a near by hospital. Child Protective Services were contacted to assist in this investigation.

Both Cramer’s were arrested and processed at SP Amity and arraigned at the town of Friendship Court. Both were released and to appear at the village of Angelica Court later in September 2023.

Shapiro Administration Provides Update on Plum Stray Gas Investigation

DEP working with the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission, local and county agencies

Plum, PA – Earlier this week, Governor Josh Shapiro directed the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) to launch an investigation into the house explosion in the Rustic Ridge neighborhood of Plum Borough, Allegheny County.

Under the Governor’s direction on Monday morning, August 14, 2023, in coordination with local and County authorities, DEP inspectors began conducting a stray gas investigation at the incident site to look for sources of combustible gas near the structure and inspecting nearby natural gas-related facilities and infrastructure under DEP’s jurisdiction.
