Part-Time CBVI Job Coach in McKean/Elk County
The CBVI job coach is a part-time position (a maximum of 29 hours/week) at an hourly rate to be determined at the time of hire. This position requires a high school diploma or GED-equivalent with preference given to associates and/or bachelors degree holders and/or those with relative experience working with teenagers or young adults. The ability to obtain Act 34, 151, and FBI clearances, along with a clean driving record is required. The job coach must complete substitute teacher training or job coach training certification, as well as first aid certification. They must also participate in the IU9’s annual in-service and quarterly CBVI meetings. Responsibilities may include light physical demands and hours may be scheduled outside of normal school day hours.
The CBVI job coach provides transportation, supervision, instruction, and assistance to students and recent graduates with disabilities in a community work setting. The job coach’s duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
” Daily activity logs, as well as bi-weekly and monthly assessments
” Maintenance and cleaning of assigned IU9 car
” Assist students with post-training or post-job shadow surveys

Registration ends this coming Monday, June 26 for camps being presented Monday through Friday, July 24-28 by Rand Whipple of the Box Of Light Digital Arts Studio at the Deane Center at 104 Main Street in Wellsboro.
The camps are being held to give children from Tioga County and surrounding areas the opportunity to learn about digital arts, animation and film.
Kids can register for more than one camp. The deadline is Monday, June 26, or until all seats are filled, whichever comes first.
The camps are made possible thanks to support from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, the Bradford Regional Arts Council and Northern Tier Partners for the Arts.
Lego Maniacs Camp
There are six openings in the Lego Maniacs Camp, which is for kids ages 6 to 8. It is being held from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Monday, July 17 to Friday, July 21. Four days of the camp will be focused on Lego animation. Working in teams of three, the campers will plan, build and then film a stop motion animation using Lego mini figs and Lego brick sets. Once the animation is complete, these young filmmakers will learn how to add sound, titles, and the all-important credits for their own Lego creations. One day will be spent building and programming robots using the Lego Mindstorms System.
Adventure Film Camp
There are three openings in the Adventure Film Camp, which is for kids ages 9 to 12. It is being held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, July 17 to Friday, July 21. In this camp, the Box Of Light Digital Arts Studio will help kids make the most amazing adventure movie ever. They will learn how to frame a shot, act for the camera, structure a dramatic or comic scene, edit video, lay in sound effects, and even create a simple musical score.
Digital Arts Camp
There is one opening in the Digital Arts Camp, which is being held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Monday, July 24 to Friday, July 28. Kids, ages 8 to 12, get a taste of digital arts processes. There is a different challenge every day. Being covered are: Claymation, green screen, film, digital books, and robotics. Youth will sculpt, build, film and program.
Stop Action Animation Camp
The popular Stop Action Animation Camp, a “hands-on” mixing of art, film, and computers, is for youngsters ages 8 to 12. It is full and has a wait list. This camp is being held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, July 24 to Friday, July 28. Rand Whipple will show the campers how to make the inanimate world come to life as clay, paper, paint, and even bottle tops get up and move across the landscape the kids create. They will make animated movies, add sound and credits and, in the end, their films will live online on the studio’s website.
Film Screening Festival
The camps will end with a Film Screening Festival on Friday, July 28 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The young filmmakers can invite their friends and families to this special screening on the last day of camp. They’ll walk the red carpet, pose for the paparazzi and enjoy films from all campers at the Deane Center.
Fee
The fee for a youngster to attend one camp is $25. Families with more than one child attending a camp will receive a 10 percent discount. Scholarships are also available.

HILLS CREEK STATE PARK IS HOLDING FREE IN-PERSON PROGRAMS THIS WEEKEND JUNE 23, 24 and 25
Coming up at Hills Creek State Park at 111 Spillway Road, Wellsboro, PA 16901-9676 are free in-person programs this Friday, Saturday and Sunday, June 23, 24 and 25.
The park is seven miles northeast of Wellsboro in Charleston Township via Charleston Street and Hills Creek Lake Road. All programs are held rain or shine.
Bat Survey is This Friday, June 23
From 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. this Friday, June 23, in the park’s Nature Center, learn about the many benefits of bats, the very real threat they face today, and what you can do to help. A Game Commission survey of bats present in the park will also be held.
This Saturday, June 24 is Squirrel Wars
Learn about the different species of squirrels and how to deal with them from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. this Saturday, June 24 in the park’s Nature Center. Mounts will highlight this presentation.

BRMC to host Chicken BBQ fundraiser for local fire victims this Friday
BRADFORD, PA – Bradford Regional Medical Center (BRMC) will be hosting a Chicken BBQ fundraiser on June 23, with all of the proceeds benefiting local Bradford fire victims. The Chicken BBQ will run from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm in the North Bennett Street Parking Lot at BRMC.
Please follow the signage that directs vehicles to enter the parking lot in front of the medical arts building for fast, efficient service to pick up a chicken dinner.
The cost will be $12.00 per dinner, which will include a quarter chicken, baked beans, potato salad, chips, cookie, and drink. The fundraiser will also include chance raffles, 50 /50 raffles, and a bake sale at the event.

Four area graduates receive board of realtors scholarship
OLEAN, N.Y., June 20, 2023 — Four recent graduates of high schools in Cattaraugus and Chautauqua counties received awards this year from the Chautauqua Cattaraugus Board of Realtors Scholarship Fund at the Cattaraugus Region Community Foundation.
Mathurin Griffith, Brayden Hayes, Elizabeth Lai and Andrew Maguire each received the Chautauqua Cattaraugus Board of Realtors Scholarship.
The board of realtors scholarship fund provides four annual $500 scholarships to students in good academic standing in Cattaraugus and Chautauqua counties. Preference is given to students pursuing a business-related degree.
From Cattaraugus County, Andrew Maguire of Allegany-Limestone Central School and Randolph Central School’s Mathurin Griffith received the scholarship.
Maguire plans to study business analytics at Alfred University. Griffith will attend Georgia Southern University to study accounting.
Recipients from Chautauqua County included Elizabeth Lai of Maple Grove High School and Brayden Hayes of Sherman Central School.
Lai will attend the University at Buffalo to study biochemistry. Hayes will study sports management at Baldwin Wallace University.
Since the Chautauqua Cattaraugus Board of Realtors established the scholarship in 2016 the fund has made possible $12,000 in support for graduates of Cattaraugus and Chautauqua counties to pursue their educational goals.

Jack K. Morrison, Sr., 89, of Bradford, PA
Jack K. Morrison, Sr., 89, of Bradford, PA passed away on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at his home.
He was born on April 22, 1934 in Carrollton, NY, a son of the late Howard and Olive Amsler Morrison.
He was a 1951 graduate of the Bradford Area High School.
He was a U.S. Army veteran who served stateside at the Pentagon during the Korean War until his honorable discharge in 1955.
On January 8, 1958 in Bradford, he married Helen B. Lingaton who preceded him in death on May 27, 2018.
Jack was a member of the American Legion Post 108. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and his dog; Kobe.
He worked construction for a number of years with J.A. Luciano Builders prior to working at the Kendall / Witco Refinery until his retirement in 1997.
He is survived by five children, Jack Morrison, Jr., Janice Morrison and Jamie (Joe) Rhoades all of Bradford, Jeff (CarLisa) Morrison of Westmoreland, TN and Jon (Wendy) Morrison of Stilesville, IN; one sister, Leanore “Toots” Rinfrette of Bradford; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife he was also preceded in death by one son, Joseph Morrison, Sr.; one granddaughter, Barbara Morrison; four sisters, Beverly Harrington, Donna Miller, Sandy Sheldon and Barb Cross and one brother, Howard Morrison, Jr.
At his request there will be no funeral services.
Burial will be in McKean Memorial Park, Lafayette.

Jeremy Phillip Rossi, 43, of Ridgway, PA passed away on June 20, 2023 at Penn Highlands Dubois surrounded by his family. He was born on October 9, 1979 in Lafayette, IN.
Jeremy was a graduate of Ridgway Area HS in Ridgway, PA. He then attended Seminole State Junior College in Oklahoma, and The University of Pittsburgh where he played collegiate baseball.
He enjoyed time with his friends and family. He loved playing cards, pool, darts, as well as kayaking trips down the Clarion River. He was a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pittsburgh Pirates. He was an avid animal lover, and a devoted friend to many.
Jeremy is survived by his mother Tammi (Ralph) Rossi, of Kutztown, PA; father, David (Xiomara) Rossi, of Dubois, PA; sister Jessica (Joseph) Aiello, Ridgway, PA; sister Erin (Eric) Cessna, Punxsutawney, PA, his adopted grandmother, “Betty” Manno, of Ridgway, PA, as well as his four nephews, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents “Bubba” (Catherine) Franz, Faye and Francis Troxel, Ben and Laurene Rossi, and “Chip” (Richard) Manno.

Marianne Johnston, 81, of Birch St. in Kane, PA passed away early Friday morning (June 16) at the Warren County Hospice House. She was born Jan. 11, 1942, in Kane the daughter of the late Andrew and Alice (VanHorn) Petruney.
Marianne was the head cook at the Kane Elementary School for many years and was a member of the United Methodist Church. She also greatly enjoyed camping, crafts, spending time with her family and her dog Trixie.
She is survived by one daughter, Kelle Bari, of Kane; two sons, Dan (Lauren) Johnston of Kane and Todd (Karen) Johnston of OH; three granddaughters, Stacey Powell, Amanda Vessel and Meagan Johnston; three grandsons, Bryan Johnston, Matthew Bari and Steven Bari; three great-granddaughters, Sydney Powell, Shaelee Powell and Zellie Johnston and one great-grandson, Stone Powell.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Johnston one daughter, Shelle Johnston, a sister Terri Asel and a son-in-law Michael Bari.
Friends are invited to attend a visitation which will take place on Thursday (June 22) from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Cummings Funeral Home and again on Friday from 12:00-1:00 p.m. A funeral ceremony will follow at 1:00 on Friday, with the Rev. Calvin Cook officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Tabor Cemetery.

William James GARDNER, 83, of Rigby, ID
William James GARDNER, 83, of Rigby, ID, died Tuesday, September 20, 2022, in Shelley, ID.
Born December 3, 1938, in Eldred, PA, he was the son of Lynn and Ruth Gardner. On May 4, 1959, in Ulysses, PA, he married the former Mary Evelyn Dunn, who predeceased him on June 25, 2012.
Surviving are: two daughters, Debbie (Ken) Blanchard of Mill Creek, UT and Sherri (Mark) Caspers of Ocala, FL; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by a son, William J. Gardner, Jr., on June 15, 2020; and a great-grandson, Mason Nash. His son, Charles R. “Charlie” Gardner, died on May 31, 2023. Bill and Charlie were interred in Raymond Cemetery, Genesee, PA.
