County Line 4-H News
We are back. February 19th the County Line 4-H had a meeting at Redmonds Eco Valley Farm. Our guest was Dr. Amanda. She took the time out of her busy day to come and help us. She showed us how to burn kids (baby goats) horns and give them pain meds. We learned the reason why some people prefer to have goats without horns. Then we went to ultrasound a gilt (young female pig). To much of our surprise Coffee Bean was bred. The boar ADD did his job. Then we got to work with more lambs (baby sheep). We had the opportunity to put ear tags, dock tails and band testicles. We saw how much the baby pigs grew from the last time they were here. Of course I see them everyday. We got to see Toco Snow twin kids. She is one of my goat’s that survived the fire. We then ate snacks and jumped on the trampoline. It was a good time.
Here is a picture of all of us.

The Oswayo Valley School District was awarded more than $43,000, while the Smethport Area School District received more than $34,000.
“These grants, which come from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, are an important investment in our schools and the students they serve,” Causer said. “Nutritious meals help support learning.”
The funding is awarded to schools that participate in the National School Lunch Program. Schools often use the grants to purchase items such as new refrigerators, freezers, stoves and dishwashers.
Across the state, more than $2.7 million in funding was awarded to 130 schools.
