Dora M. Mahoney, 90, of Hemlock Road, St. Marys, PA passed away on Tuesday, December 20, 2022, at Pinecrest Manor following a battle with dementia.

She was born on May 6, 1932, in St. Marys, PA, a daughter of the late Nicola and Michelina DiColantino D’Amore.

On June 19, 1954, at Sacred Heart, she married the late Gerald Mahoney, who preceded her in death on April 7, 1995.

Dora was a lifelong resident of St. Marys and member of Queen of The World Church. She worked as a waitress at several local restaurants for many years. She will be fondly remembered for her faithful and devoted service as a local registrar for more than 20 years. In her free time, Dora enjoyed sewing and going to Bingo. She was a sweet and loving wife, mother, and grandmother who loved spending time with her friends and family, often sending them home with “goodies”.

She is survived by 4 children; Greg Mahoney and his wife Barb of St. Marys, Shawn Mahoney and his wife Lori of Kersey, Sandra Bahn and her husband Jim of Philadelphia, and Lorena Hamilton of St. Marys, and by 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother; Joe D’Amore and his wife Mal of St. Marys, a sister; Theresa Geitner of St. Marys, a sister-in-law; Lois D’Amore of St. Marys, and by several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Dora was preceded in death by 2 brothers; Carmen D’Amore and Anthony D’Amore, andby a sister in infancy, Emilia D’Amore.

A Memorial Service for Dora M. Mahoney will be celebrated on Friday, December 30, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Lynch-Green Funeral Home, 151 N. Michael Street, St. Marys, PA, with Fr. Jeffery Noble officiating.

Family and friends will be received on Friday, December 30, 2022 at the Lynch Green Funeral Home from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.

Burial will follow at St. Mays Catholic Cemetery.

George Santora, 74, of Bradford, PA passed away Saturday, December 10, 2022, at Bradford Ecumenical Home. 

Born October 26, 1948, in Bradford, he was a son of the late Florence (Chimento) Santora.

George was a 1967 graduate of Bradford High School. After graduating and working construction in Florida. He returned to Bradford and worked at Evergreen Elm, later Cummins Construction and S.M. Gleason Construction. He retired after 25 years. 

George was a member of St. Bernard Church, he sang in St. Bernard Resurrection Choir. 

He was a member of the Local 5 Labor Union in Pittsburgh Pittsburgh, and enjoyed going to the YMCA.
 
Surviving is one  sister, Hazel “Toby” Stahlman, of Bradford, and several nieces and nephews.

George was preceded in death by his mother, two sisters, Michelle K. “Mickey” Santora, and Rose “Sis” Santora and one brother, Frank R. Santora.

Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at 1:00 PM in St. Bernard Church with Fr. Jim Gutting, as Celebrant. Burial will be with his mother in St. Bernard Cemetery.

Luella M. Moyer, 94, of Lovers Lane, Kersey, PA passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at the Elk Haven Nursing Home.

Robert Frederick “Pop” Erway, 90, of Lawrenceville, formerly of Mansfield, PA passed away at his residence surrounded by his loving family. 

He was born on August 26, 1932 in Wellsboro, the son of the late Charles & Mildred (Seeley) Erway.  He married the former Joyce Welch on September 1, 1951 and have celebrated 71 years of marriage. 

Bob worked for the North Penn Gas Company, now UGI, retiring in 1995 and is a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Wellsboro where he served as an elder.  Earlier in life he was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Mansfield and served as a trustee and elder. 

Bob served as a scoutmaster of Troop #106, Commissioner, Committeeman for Troops 106 and 24, executive board member of the General Sullivan Council, Vice President of the Council and President for two years.  Was a member of the Five Rivers Council executive board and the recipient of the coveted Silver Beaver Award. 

Bob was an involved member of the Mansfield community, serving on the Tioga County Borough Association and served as President at the time of the ground breaking of the Tioga-Hammond Dam in 1974.  He was also an active member of the Kiwanis Club, the B.O.O.M. Committee, the Chamber of Commerce, the Mansfield Fire Company and Ambulance Association, Mansfield Borough Council, serving as President for three years.

Bob was a member of the Friendship Masonic Lodge #247 and a 32^nd degree Mason.  He also served on the Wellsboro Chamber of Commerce, the GROW Industrial Committee and the United Way.   Bob enjoyed growing vegetables and fruit, growing hay, and raising bees on his farm in Lawrenceville, PA.  

In addition to his wife, Joyce, Bob is survived by a daughter, Linda (Ellsworth Richardson) Andrews of Middlebury Center; two sons:  Michael (Debra) Erway of Ottawa, KS; and Jeffrey (Alisa) Erway of Richmond, VA; an adopted daughter, Toni Brauchler of Dunkirk, NY; 10 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren. 

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by a son, Timmy Erway, a granddaughter, Sarah Erway, 8 brothers and 2 sisters. 

A memorial service for Bob will be announced at a later date. 

In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial contributions in Bob’s name be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 130 Main St., Wellsboro, PA 16901.

Clara Anne MERRELL, 84, of Bolivar, NY, died Tuesday, December 20, 2022 in Olean General Hospital. 

Born July 7, 1938, in Rochester, she was the daughter of Earl and Fern Prevost Gerew.  On June 4, 1960, in Rochester, she married Burdette Lewis “Bud” Merrell, who survives. 

She was employed by Genesee Hospital in the dietary department and then stayed home to raise her children. 

Clara was a member of Riverside Assembly of God in Wellsville.  She was a great mother and grandmother, who had a strong faith and was always praying. 

Surviving besides her husband, Bud, are:  ten children, Burdette L. (Ellen) Merrell, Jr. of Perry, George W (Louise) Merrell of Cuba, Kimberly Ann (Jim) DeGroff of Bolivar, Tina (Rex) Francisco of Scio, Michael (Vonda) Merrell of Niagara Falls, Linda (Dana) Harris of Wellsville, Clarence (Marsha) Merrell of Lima, Pauleen (Rory) Dudley of Bolivar, Richard James Merrell of Lexington Park, MD, and Sandra (Brian) Brizzee of Wellsville;  47 grandchildren;  47 great-grandchildren;  two great-great-grandchildren;  two sisters, Eileen Stevens and Cheryl Curry;  nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Keith Merrell of Bergen, who was like a son. 

She was predeceased by a daughter, Sharon Merrell;  and three grandsons, Kristopher R. Francisco, Michael Witter, and Zachary Keller. 

Friends may call at Riverside Assembly of God, Riverside Drive, Wellsville on Friday, December 23, 2022 from 10:00 – 11:00 AM, with a Memorial Service following at 11:00 AM.  Rev. John Francisco and Rory Dudley will co-officiate.  Burial will be in Bath National Cemetery.

Patricia F. McAnallen, 91, of Smethport, PA passed away Monday (December 19, 2022) at UPMC-Cole, Coudersport.

Alida Wilcox, 89, of Frostproof, FL passed away December 17, 2022 at the Lakeland Regional Health Center in Lakeland, FL. 

She was born April 21, 1933 in Blossburg to Adalbert and Zelma (Smith) Stadler.  On July 19, 1951, she married Clifton Wilcox and together they shared 71 years of marriage. 

She had been a member of the Stony Fork Baptist Church, and enjoyed camping, travelling, and needlework, especially knitting and crocheting.  Most of all, she was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who loved being around family.

She is survived by her husband Clifton Wilcox of Frostproof, FL; a son:  Robert Wilcox (Kim) of Wellsboro; two daughters:  Joan Wilcox of Frostproof, FL, and Kathy Compton (Mark) of Glendale, AZ; seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; many great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters:  Dorothy Phillips, and Beverly Markowicz.

There will be a memorial service in Florida at a later date, and she will be interred in Tioga County Memorial Gardens.  Her family has entrusted the Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home, 139 Main Street, Wellsboro, PA.

Gene F. Hulings, 78, of the Lutheran Home at Kane and formerly of Milan, PA, Kane and Wilcox, PA died Saturday morning, December 17, 2022 at the Lutheran Home. She was born March 16, 1944 in Wilcox a daughter to the late Howard and Pearl Marie Sellers Finn. On November 30, 1963 she married Harold Hulings, Sr. who preceded her in death on December 10, 2005.

Gene had been at the Lutheran Home for the past 3 years and had spent her later years in life with her children in Milan, PA. She had also lived in Kane for many years. She spent much of her life in the Wilcox-Rasselas area and was a 1962 graduate of Wilcox High School.

She was a member of the Wyndham Community Church in Wyndham, PA and enjoyed the teachings of Pastor Pfleiger while at the Lutheran Home. She was also very involved in the many available activities available to her at the Home. She was a breast cancer survivor!, a very active grandmother and had been a member of the Kane Eagles.

Gene had worked as an Activities Aid for Dickinson Mental Health for 3 years and had worked as an Activities Aide at Bradford County Manor for over 20 years.

Gene is survived by her 3 children; Harold Hulings, Jr. and his wife Tammy of Gillett, PA, Annette Hulings and her companion J.B. Martin of Rome, PA an Timothy Hulings and his wife Brianna of Rome, PA and 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by 3 sisters; Gert Coder and her husband Bill Heatherdale of Kane, Connie Geiser of St. Marys and Gayle Finn of St. Marys and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is predeceased by brothers Willard, Ronald and Billy, and sisters Janice Heatherdale, Rita Lehman, Frances Allegretto and Suellen McIntosh.

Funeral services and interment for Gene F. Hulings will be private and at the convenience of the family. There will be no visitation.

Wanda M. Daghir, 97, of S. St. Marys Street, St. Marys, PA passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, December 19, 2022, with her family by her side.

She was born on April 21, 1925 in Cherry Ridge, PA, a daughter of the late Clarence J. Rickard, Sr. and Veronica “Vera” Mongovan Rickard.

On January 27, 1951, at Honesdale, PA, she married the late George L. Daghir, Esq., who preceded her in death on October 3, 2019. Together they shared more than 68 years of marriage.
