2022 winding down for Penn College athletes
WildcatWeeklyHighlights2022-23
Action was light for Pennsylvania College of Technology athletes with just one men’s basketball game played last week. The college’s wrestlers wrap up the 2022 portion of their schedule with matches this Monday and Thursday.
FLASHBACK
Men’s basketball
On Monday, the Wildcats grabbed a nine-point, 47-38, halftime lead at King’s College, only to be outscored 66-52 in the second half of a 104-99 nonconference loss that saw their overall record drop to 4-5. The five-point margin was the closest in four games between the two teams since 2014.
For the second time this season, and fourth of his career, Gavin Barrett, of Roselle, New Jersey, recorded a triple-double for Penn College as he finished with 22 points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds. Max Jackowsky, of Garnet Valley, had a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds, while Will Sulesky, of Huntingdon, added 19 points, and Obens Luxama, of Port St. Lucie, Florida, and Nouhamadou Diallo, of Stafford, Virginia, each tallied 13 points, marking the first time since the 2020 season that five Penn College players reached double digits in a game.
Penn College now is idle until Jan. 2 when it travels to Centenary University.
UE Presidents’ Cup
Through the Fall 2022 season, Penn College was ranked sixth in a field of nine for the Presidents’ Cup. The cup winner is determined by a scoring system that rewards a school for success during both regular season and postseason competition, and the rankings will be adjusted twice more (after winter and spring seasons) before the Presidents’ Cup is awarded in May.
Current standings:
- St. Mary’s (Md.) College
- SUNY Morrisville
- Lancaster Bible College
